Just put down a chunk of money on mine! Absolutely beautiful, absolutely sounds like nothing ive ever played befor... the set up it so unbelievable, this guiar plays itself! Only problem ill have is it is truly a work of art and so beautiful, i have to wear my all cotton bathrob when i play it at home bc im so terrified to get even a finger print on it lol.. really man im not jokin, i almost just said no way man... thats way to nice lookin ill just get a 314ec and call it a day! But i just couldnt resist with the full bevel arm rest and the inside cut away bevel... and i hardly had to apply any finger pressure to make a chord, and the volume this thing projects at is nuts. And it better for the amount of money im spending on it even thou i got beyond a great deal, saved about 960 bucks! Ya... i couldnt pass it up. Tax n all with taylor hardshell case i got out the door under 4200 bucks! Ill never ever sell this guitar and all the money ive spent on 1000 dollar guitars, 600.. 1600 i said to my self get it.. ya its insanely expensive but get what you want this time n youll never need another acustic guitar ever! So... ive got a few more electric guitars im gonna buy and thats it.. im done! 1 2 more amps.. the roland jc120, and the evh 5150iii combo.... ive got a fender twin reverb 65 reissue but i need a hi gain so itsbthe evh for me... roland jc120 i had yaers ago n got n rid of it like a fool, an 80 jc120... anyways im 54 n had just about every thing and now my guitar buyin days are just about done! My suggestion to anyone wanting to buy a guitar... dont buy that 5 or 600 dollar guitar, if you want a 2000 strat, tele.. or that gibson les paul... just save up and get what you want 1st time around bc the years will go by n something will always come up to where ya cant save the money n next thing ya know youve spent 8000 grand on basically b.s. and there not worth 300 bucks each now... save yr money and get that all American hand built guitar thats gonna hold some value! If it feel absolutely great in yr hands, plays so easily, sounds great... and its 100% the one you want BUY IT! dont settle for anything less EVER.. if its everything you want but then color, or the neck isnt the wood you like.. what ever dont buy it, it will bug you for ever! Get exactly what you want, or order it also!
Happy Saturday, I'm going to buy a new Taylor guitar. I have it narrowed down to the 814CE, 914CE, or K14CE....its a tough decision because I like them ALL, and their all an investment. CHEERS
The bass on this instrument doesn't boom all that much. They don't always need to boom in the bass, I just like a solid low-end. Like most Taylors, the sound is balanced to itself and voiced nicely. It's too bad so many trees have been harvested to the point that premium tonewoods are becoming increasingly more scarce.
No one has noticed the change in the bridge shape? It is much better and doesn’t look like a Klingon weapon any more. But still has plastic knobs on the guitar. I don’t think a work of art like that should have plastic knobs. Much brighter than any Taylor I’ve ever heard.
Enough bass it sounds like an OM guitar Taylor very nice looking guitar :) but the pick up iES 2 sounded muffled especiaaly when using Churos effects I prefer the Es 1 ot no pick up at all so I can put LR baggs Hifi !
I hope they do the 517 717 and make a 617 builders edition like this with gloss finish. I've the 517 and 717 but jeez they slide about and the natural looks cheap to me...the sound certainly doesnt .
It would be great if you guys could provide more information in your videos. Your videos often strike me as flying by the seat of your pants, which you openly admit at times. I would love more detail and B roll of close-ups. For example, what does a four piece top amount to? Is that good or bad? Does the glass finish affect the sound? Is the bridge more comfortable? How does Adirondack differ from Sitka. Etc. There was so much more to be said and all we really get is, “Taylors have great playability.”
The old one sounded better. Both are beautiful and probably play great. I know guitars change over time, but at this price point it should wow from the beginning. I had a Martin D28 that was ok. Sold it and bought an HD28 reimagined; maybe I got lucky, but it was amazing from the first strum. A dog doesn't turn into a gem.
Great playing as always Quinton! I'd love to hear a comparison of the 814ce with the equivalent Martin. The Taylors have a thinner, almost tinny, sound to my ear. What would the closest equivalent Martin be to the 814?
I would put it next to an OM28... similar body size and scale length... spruce top, Indian Rosewood B/S. The thing with Taylors is that they're bright by nature, especially when they're new (haven't opened up and are a bit tight) AND with new strings! Martins usually have a much more pleasing sound from the go. Taylors need some time and at least have slightly worn out strings...
@@allend3127 I've an 810e (2016) as the first owner. I can describe it as powerful low end and sparkly top end. But the guitar in this video is way too brittle than mine.
Adirondack spruce typically sounds like this especially for small/medium sized guitars. Very tight and sparkly when it’s brand new but sounds much better as it ages.
as mainly a bluegrass guy. and a dreadnought only player. i had the opportunity to play an 814 and that amount of brightness was overwhelming. way way too much for me.
I notice that neither of you (Paul and Quinton) said anything noteworthy about the sound of the guitar. I have almost always experienced that quality sound (tone) of even high end Taylor guitars is just not there. Hence the price is not commensurate with sound quality.
Not worth at all. I've tried many guitars and I was not impressed by the lows on 814ce be especially for this price range. There are definitely better guitars at this price range.
They are pretty, but the tone is very, very thin and unbalanced! The guitar here sounds less impressive than a $600.00 Indonesian built Epiphone. BTW...Eastman is kicking out tons of two piece Adi topped guitars for a third of the price, I think they may have bought up the entire world of Adi. Nice play Quinton!
Simply beautiful.... now make it satin finish with a burst top.... yes please! I love the 14 series.
Taking mine home last weekend of August 2023.. 1 more week! Can't wait.
Looks the part but I'd take the older X braced 800 series..I find it much warmer, more bass ect!
Yea, the V-bracing doesn’t suit every guitar.

The neck profile is slightly different on BE as well. Great demo. Thanks, Quinton and Paul.
I bought a non ES and put in an M80 but run it on passive, I have control over gain.
Yes, we have boards for our tops="piano tops".
As long as it is the best quartered spruce.
Those Taylors sure are loud!.
Our lead guitarist just traded for one of these and I can't wait to hear it in person

What did you decide ? Between 814 and Koa myself( all purpose)

Imagine if you could get this in the tobacco sunburst on the Adirondack wood
Very nice.

Taylor has done it again! They found yet another way to raise the retail price of the 814ce. Impressive!
One advantage with separate planking is that one can place the more compliant grain on the bass side.

I feel the same way about my 717. Wish it were gloss.

The new Taylor v bracing is not our grandfathers x bracing
You would have to try these in person. Because that microphone is not giving you an accurate representation of the sound.
A bit too tinny and thin sounding. I'll keep my old 1995 Taylor 910 and a bunch of Martins...
Too bad they kept the pickguard ...
$4500 I don't know if it's worth it
Is it me or is this too bright even for Taylors?
I bought one at GC. Returned it the next day. WAAYY TO BRIGHT.

I was just thinking the same thing! Thought it was me!
the regular has much better tone then the weak bass builder guitar

ES system is trash
I used to think the same thing.
