My husband is one of 13/ children and grew up poor but by gods grace he has been saved and he weeps when he hears this song his parents did the best they could especially his mother she always instilled god in all of her children and we were all blessed to have her for a wonderful mom she died in 2002 at the age of ninety oh how we were blessed to have such a wonderful mother ❤
I was saved at age 10 at home with my dad and mom right beside me, but as I got older I just had to see what this old world had to offer, kind of like the prodigal son. At a later time in my life I found out really fast, that this old world is cruel and the world loves its own. I found that in my Bible. Redecorated my life to the Lord in my 30's because the old world couldn't offer what the Lord Jesus could. I love this song so much because I'm just an old sinner saved by grace.
How so right u are! I love it when ur at church and the Spirit of God walks in and shows out. Ohhh, his LOVE for us ol sinners! Thank God for his forgiveness for such a sinner as i
I live in Australia and there are many churches that have brought gospel music into their church....they needed to bring the followers back and music has done this. A wonderful church at the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia is The Dream Centre. I met a lovely man who introduced me to this church and it has brought me so much happiness and music over the years.
Through all our highs and lows, our accomplishments and failures, may God help us to remember that we are nothing, absolutely nothing but unworthy sinners saved by the marvelous and all encompassing grace of our Lord Jesus.
Im 38 years old and was raised on the cathedrals back when i was 8 years old they had the nqc in nashville tennessee now its in louisville ky george and glenn and roger have went home to be with the lord i hope to see them one day in glory
God's everlasting mercy on us sinners is vast and wide...Without his love and grace, we would be separated forever from the Presence of our Redeemer! It is not what we have done..it is what HE has done...I am just a sinner....gloriously Saved....not by my works....but by his GRACE !!!
This pulls at the strings of my heart. I stand in awe at what Christ Jesus accomplished on the cross when he shed his ever so precious blood. Now my life must reflect him.
This song, of all the many beautiful and blessed songs The Cathedrals ever performed, is the one that says it all!! Without Jesus, we are nothing but lost and undone. But with Him, we are of all men most blessed. When we get to thinking too much of ourselves, this will bring us back to where we need to be - totally in debt to Jesus for what HE did and does for us every day .
Amen. I will be going Home before long. Love awaits me there!! But I will be l loves ones here. But they can go home in their time. Thank you Jesus for Home
I'm just a sinner continually being saved (delivered, held) by GRACE. Grace isn't a one time thing. It is truly God. God's grace, is God in the gift of, Himself incarnate in Yeshua making himself receivable. We of ourselves are nothing. He didn't come to make bad people good He came to make dead people alive in Him.
I love gospel songs, even" A SINNER SAVED BY GRACE", but I'm a Christian saved by Grace. If I sin I go to the Father and ask Him to forgive me and know He hears me and does forgive.
If you are listening to this song l pray that you become thirsty like this men and be filled with The Holy Spirit who is the Living Waters that when we drink it it Flows through us forever so we will be satisfied
2024 I'm still listening to this I wasn't a Christian when this was first uploaded in 08 sadly but since 2009 I've been a lovely loyal Christian to the Lord and this sinner saved by grace is a beautiful song
This is one of my very favorites. George said that "his verse" fitted his life as well as any he'd sung. Well both verses apply to my life. This song reminds me so clearly of who I am and who God is.
If you could see what I once was If you could go with me Back to where I started from Then I know you would see A miracle of love that took me In it's sweet embrace And made me what I am today Just an old sinner saved by grace I'm just a sinner saved by grace When I stood condemned to death He took my place Now I live and breathe in freedom With each breath of life I take Loved and forgiven, backed with a living I'm just a sinner saved by grace How could I boast on anything I've ever seen or done? How could I dare to claim as mine The victories God has won? Where would I be Had God not brought me Gently to this place? I'm here to say I'm nothing But a sinner saved by grace I'm just a sinner saved by grace When I stood condemned to death He took my place Now I grow and breathe in freedom With each breath of life I take I'm loved and forgiven backed with a living I'm just a sinner saved by grace Now I grow and breathe in freedom With each breath of life I take I'm loved and forgiven backed with a living I'm just a sinner saved by grace
Long before I could put faces to this song, I listened to them every Saturday evening on a little station aired in Toronto called WDCX with host Doug Riley. I loved them then and still love them today, And this song more than all they have sung means a lot to me. A lot! Thank you
I know that I was the one that uploaded this video but I just listened to it again and every time I do I get chill bumps. Danny just blows me away!!! He harmonized beautifully yet demonstrated power at the same time. Nobody could touch him as far as I am concerned.
WOW!!!!! What truly powerful, powerful song that glorifies my Lord. What genuine emotion and love for God. A beautiful song by an amazing group to an all-mighty God! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
My favorite version of the Cathedrals. Probably the best version of this song. The end is amazing Danny Funderburk at 415-424 is KILLING IT and Gerald Wolfe TEARING UP the keys. A beautiful song love the second verse. How could I boast of anything I've ever seen or done. How could I dare to claim as mine victories GOD has won. Where would I be had GOD not brought me gently to this place. Awesome.
I have asked my Pastors wife to sing this song at my funeral as she is so much younger than I am and this is my theme song and even though GOD did not give me the gift of voice,I try to sing it Accupuncture as that is painful,One of the prettiest songs I have ever heardn
I have also requested that this song be played at my Funeral and I believe that Bill Gaither wrote this song especially for George Younce and he did not disappoint
i love this song, and the singers, but the message is what is so wonderful. i believe in my heart that i am saved by grace. you can see my joy in the way these guys are singing. bless you, The Cathedrals.
i just love some of these older groups the cathedrals are one of my all time favorite groups.you can still get chills as they sing these songs.you just know that they were eant to write and sing these songs to uplift God in every way possible.
Chill bumps.... over every square inch..... I love the Cathedrals and the powerful message they deliver. I miss them and am glad I own quite a bit of their music so it can live on in my heart and soul. ~phoebe/ phx az
I've seen a lot of comments questioning the song's scriptural content- - personally I hear no encouragement to keep on sinning and simply have grace, or anything of the sort. The first verse plainly states, "If you could see what I ONCE WAS". Meaning simply as the Bible says, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God-- but by grace all of us who believe are restored to life and fellowship in Jesus Christ. We live and breathe in freedom, because whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
My husband chose this song, sung by George, to be sung at his funeral. Very fitting because he had changed from a sinner to a saint through the shed blood of Jesus Christ!
The Cathedrals embedded themselves in my childhood and even today with different views and a different life I still can't stop myself from coming to this page and listening to their songs.
The Bible says in Romans 10: 9-10, if you declare with your mouth “ Jesus is Lord , and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified , and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith , and are saved. This song is about amazing Grace , taking a sin filled woman, giving me Life in the Lord!! And I know where I’m going when my life on earth is complete.
Best there ever was William. I'm a professional musician and was blessed to work with them quite a few times. George and Glen (bass and lead singers and owners of the group) passed away some years ago. The group disbanned after Glen died. He went first. Wonderful people, all of them.
William, each song is a sermon beautifully presented, I am in Sydney, Australia and years ago found a cassette with their songs on it in an op shop. I'm gonna live forever was on it. Through their music, I was brought back to the Lord. Really brought back. I bought CDs and DVDs I love them. This song could have been written for me. They brought me back to the Lord who gave me a new life and the old things passed away. What a legacy they left. Their Christian living and singing showed me (an orphan passed from foster home to foster home) how to live. What role models they were, I thank God for that day he led me into a humble 'Bibles for Missions" op shop.
I know you wrote this 5 years ago but I am adding to it...This was one of my favorite groupings of the Cathedrals...with Mark Trammell and Danny Funderburk...I still love the one Danny was featured in "Somebody Touched Me." & with Roger on the piano..Gosh/That was awesome! So was "I just started living!....SO Powerful!!!!!!
If you could see What I once was If you could go with me Back to where I started from Then, I know you would see A miracle of Love that put me In it's sweet embrace And made me what I am today Just an old sinner Saved by grace....
Wow! Setting here with tears in my eyes! I was so fortunate to see that Cathedrals so many times over the years. The first time was in 1984 (I think. I was 11 or 12) and Danny had only joined the Cathedrals a month before. Man, the guy blew me away then,, and still does! And no one will ever again sing like Glen Payne. This was the BEST ever line up of any group, IMO.
Thank god thats what we all are just an old sinner saved by grave thank you seems so little to say to him but by the grace one day ill take him by the hand and tell him face to face thank you jesus just think about it.
I have been gone for nearly a week and got home from an 8 hour trip in the blinding snow. Finding these new videos you have posted of the Cats has completley made my day. I am like a kid who just woke up Christmas morning. A million thanks! P.S. post more if you have 'em.
The new generations of singers have a lot to learn from the cathedrals
Yes
Amen!

Wish I could go back in time when Southern Gospel music was this awesome. It was filled with the Spirit and moved us closer to Him.
Amen, we still have good music but yes back then it had something even more special.
Take me with you
How so right u are!

The Greatest Gospel Group of All Time they touch my heart and soul. Thank you Gary for providing these!!
I just LOVE the ENERGY that Glen puts into singing in this hymn! I sure do miss him! See you soon Glen!

Im 38 years old and was raised on the cathedrals back when i was 8 years old they had the nqc in nashville tennessee now its in louisville ky george and glenn and roger have went home to be with the lord i hope to see them one day in glory
what a time to be alive... to see them live and be able to shake there hand... george clapped me on the shoulder one night, gave me that crooked smile
God's everlasting mercy on us sinners is vast and wide...Without his love and grace, we would be separated forever from the Presence of our Redeemer! It is
not what we have done..it is what HE has done...I am just a sinner....gloriously Saved....not by my works....but by his GRACE !!!
I’m just a sinner Saved By Grace.

Thank you Jesus for saving me
This is one of my favorite song. I praise the Lord for this song, each one of the quartet lifts me up to God.
This pulls at the strings of my heart. I stand in awe at what Christ Jesus accomplished on the cross when he shed his ever so precious blood. Now my life must reflect him.

Never will there be another quartet as good as the cathedrals Glenn Payne and George Youce were the best
I love gospel songs, even" A SINNER SAVED BY GRACE", but I'm a Christian saved by Grace. If I sin I go to the Father and ask Him to forgive me and know He hears me and does forgive.

Love this song never to old for me! So true for me. Thank you Jesus!
Top 10 greatest quartet endings/songs in the history of southern gospel music IMHO.
Without a doubt one of the best gospel groups I’ve ever seen ❤
It is pure anointing by God's precious Spirit.
This is one of my very favorites. George said that "his verse" fitted his life as well as any he'd sung. Well both verses apply to my life. This song reminds me so clearly of who I am and who God is.
HALLELU YAH!! it's been many years since I have heard the Cathedrals sing this song!! Wow!
I was privileged to know these men. I grew up in the Cathedral of Tomorrow in Ohio
Praise God Almighty for his neverending love and mercy shown to us all,by sending his only begotten Son to Earth;John:3:16-17!
One day. We will never have to retire. Never grow old. Never die. One day.
If you could see what I once was
If you could go with me
Back to where I started from
Then I know you would see
A miracle of love that took me
In it's sweet embrace
And made me what I am today
Just an old sinner saved by grace
I'm just a sinner saved by grace
When I stood condemned to death
He took my place
Now I live and breathe in freedom
With each breath of life I take
Loved and forgiven, backed with a living
I'm just a sinner saved by grace
How could I boast on anything
I've ever seen or done?
How could I dare to claim as mine
The victories God has won?
Where would I be
Had God not brought me
Gently to this place?
I'm here to say I'm nothing
But a sinner saved by grace
I'm just a sinner saved by grace
When I stood condemned to death
He took my place
Now I grow and breathe in freedom
With each breath of life I take
I'm loved and forgiven backed with a living
I'm just a sinner saved by grace
Now I grow and breathe in freedom
With each breath of life I take
I'm loved and forgiven backed with a living
I'm just a sinner saved by grace

Danny just blows me away!!! He harmonized beautifully yet demonstrated power at the same time.
Nobody could touch him as far as I am concerned.
I agree with you 100% ! Love all their songs, but my favorite of them all is " I Will Serve Thee ". No one else can sing that like Danny.
Funderburk my all time favorite.....Gerald plays up a storm on this song too
This music has so much Biblical truth, we truly need it in 2022!
I always feel touched by the Holy Spirit when I listen to them.... and overwhelmed with Love for our Lord and Saviour
Still listening, 7 July 2024, South Africa
WOW!!!!! What truly powerful, powerful song that glorifies my Lord. What genuine emotion and love for God. A beautiful song by an amazing group to an all-mighty God! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
Still listening July 2024 in Tn
This is the most beautiful song sung by the best quartet of all time!
My favorite version of the Cathedrals. Probably the best version of this song. The end is amazing Danny Funderburk at 415-424 is KILLING IT and Gerald Wolfe TEARING UP the keys. Couldn't have said it better myself. One of the greatest all time quartet performances. Combined with the lyrics it truly is KILLER!
Bill and Gloria knew how to compose songs
"Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great." Psalm 18:35
Thanks Lady Gather, one of if not your best
I have asked my Pastors wife to sing this song at my funeral as she is so much younger than I am and this is my theme song and even though GOD did not give me the gift of voice,I try to sing it Accupuncture as that is painful,One of the prettiest songs I have ever heardn

I agree. Paul even said he was once a sinner but had received the forgiveness only Jesus can give through His shed blood and mercy!
Eph.2:8-9 " For by grace we have been saved, it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast.
There is NOTHING unscriptural about this song. Paul said he counted himself "chiefest of sinners".
My husband chose this song, sung by George, to be sung at his funeral. Very fitting because he had changed from a sinner to a saint through the shed blood of Jesus Christ!
@@cindybrunken4005 I'll look for him in paradise!
