  • 1 day Japan travel itinerary guide on what to do and eat in Kobe. Kobe offers much much more than just Kobe Beef!
Kobe is under an hour away from Kyoto and Osaka, so it makes the perfect day trip as well.
Kobe is very well known for their famous Kobe Beef, however this city has much more to offer than just that. In this video let me show you how to travel around Kobe efficiently and visit the must see places in just one day.
1 day in Kobe is enough to see the main areas of the city, however if you want to do more activities like hiking, going to the onsen or more hands on cultural experiences then a few days would be better.
Also, If you have more days to spend here then I definitely recommend checking out more of the local areas and back streets!!!
Things to do in Kobe city, Japan:
    JR Shin-Kobe Station
    Shin-Kobe Ropeway
    Nunobiki Waterfall
    Nunobiki Herb Gardens
Kitano District (Ijinkan foreign residents houses)
    Sannomiya Station
    Steakland Kobe Beef
    Nankinmachi Kobe China Town
    Meriken Park
Kobe Great Hanshin Earthquake Memorial Park
    Kobe Maritime Museum
    Kobe Port Tower
    Kobe Harborland
    Kobe Cruising
    Mosaic Shopping Mall
Kobe City Hall 24th Floor Free View

I do agree. I don’t know why I had great time every time I traveled Japan. The most popular place Hong Kong people go for sightseeing is Japan.

My wife and I were in Kobe last year 2018, we went on the ropeway to the herb garden, absolutely amazing, wonderful views & aromatic plants and herbs. We travelled from Kyoto by bullet train, again a wonderful experience. Roll on 2020 when we will be returning to Japan.

Just went to Kobe, beautiful town! Loved the Sento I stayed at, and the Mosaic shopping district and Mall nearby were great for the adults and teens, while the Anpanman museum is right there for little ones. The people there are definitely very nice to us, as was for our entire trip around Japan.

I lived in Kobe for almost a year and I'm planning to go back there asap.
It's a wonderful city, it has everything!
I ate the most expensive Kobe beef (around 150€ for 30g) and it was AMAZING, absolutely one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten!

Kobe is the perfect place to go and see nature, Mt Maya or Mt Rokko are really beautiful with many small hiking paths and the air up there smelled always like nature. Whenever I needed to escape the city I went uphill.

The one hour hike up to the herb gardens was really nice! Good exercise and you get to be really close to the waterfall. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research ahead of time because we went in the afternoon and by the time we got to the top, the garden and ropeway was closed.
I went to a restaurant near Kobe station I think for Kobe beef. Found the restaurant by chance. It was around 10000 yen for a dinner set that came with an appetizer, salad, beef main course with rice, and dessert. It was so delicious!

Last semester (spring 2019) I studied abroad at Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus. I was able to join the tennis club 同好会 and we had a match against Kobe Uni/Shindai (神戸大学/神大) who's courts are located in the mountain area of Kobe, offering a lovely view to the bayside. After the matches finished, my friends and teammates went to celebrate one of our guy's 20th birthday at Torikizoku (鳥貴族) near Rokko station and it was also fabulous!
Needless to recall, we went back to some of the spots in this video: Meriken Park and Nankingmachi in one of my last days in Japan for that time. I truly love Japan, its culture and its people. My dream is to work and live there someday 💓

I enjoyed visiting Kobe & think I can understand with Osaka people regard it is 'romantic'. I find it orderly, calm & lacking the noise and excitement of somewhere like Osaka. And this appealed to me a lot. Also that area where foreign traders used to live is really well worth a look. To me Kobe is one of those place, like Fukuoka the offers that really nice balance between City & Countryside.

I live in Kobe and make occasional videos too! One of my favorite parts of Kobe is visiting the animal pasture on Rokko Mountain. You need to either hike up to it or take one of the many buses but it's a fun alternative to what can be a busy afternoon in downtown kobe.
