Last semester (spring 2019) I studied abroad at Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus. I was able to join the tennis club 同好会 and we had a match against Kobe Uni/Shindai (神戸大学/神大) who's courts are located in the mountain area of Kobe, offering a lovely view to the bayside. After the matches finished, my friends and teammates went to celebrate one of our guy's 20th birthday at Torikizoku (鳥貴族) near Rokko station and it was also fabulous! Needless to recall, we went back to some of the spots in this video: Meriken Park and Nankingmachi in one of my last days in Japan for that time. I truly love Japan, its culture and its people. My dream is to work and live there someday 💓
My wife and I were in Kobe last year 2018, we went on the ropeway to the herb garden, absolutely amazing, wonderful views & aromatic plants and herbs. We travelled from Kyoto by bullet train, again a wonderful experience. Roll on 2020 when we will be returning to Japan.
Kobe is the perfect place to go and see nature, Mt Maya or Mt Rokko are really beautiful with many small hiking paths and the air up there smelled always like nature. Whenever I needed to escape the city I went uphill.
We were staying in Obayashi on three trips to Japan. On rest days we would take the train "into town" to get a Wifi connection at the Starbucks next to Chinatown. Great city. The walk from Shinkobe station to Nunobiki waterfall is well worth doing.
Sorry for the late upload - this one took a bit longer to edit! Travelling around Kansai visiting some friends, so look forward to more of those videos coming soon ;)
I grew up in Fukiai-ku from six days after my 3rd birthday in very early July of 1968 through February of 1971, and then from then through 1979 up on the Nishinomiya side of Mt Rokko above Hankyu Line's Shukugawa Station, on Kentani-cho! I still feel Japan is my true home!
I live in Hong Kong and go to Japan at least once a year for holiday and your videos are the BEST! It's informative and not too long and not too short. Please continue posting.
I have been to Japan in the last 3 weeks and was watching a lot your videos before hand. While we were in Osaka I did a 1 day trip to Kobe as you suggested and I'm very glad I did take the time to explore the city. :) Thanks for your helpful and interesting videos, keep up the good work!!
Thank you so much for your videos I'm finally coming to Japan after dreaming to go for 15 years and I want to visit more than Tokyo so your videos are super helpful!
Thank you for your nice video! I visited Kobe in March 2014, and I lived in the Oriental Hotel (the one shaped like a boat). Superb night view from the balcony of the hotel. Kobe is actually my favorite Kensai city so that is why I always check out the videos on TH-cam to see how it looks like now. I currently live and work at NYC. Will definitely go back one day!!!
I lived in Kobe for almost a year and I'm planning to go back there asap. It's a wonderful city, it has everything! I ate the most expensive Kobe beef (around 150€ for 30g) and it was AMAZING, absolutely one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten!
Too many travelers in Tokyo. You should definitely check out Kobe, and it’s beautiful landscape and location! The walk from pier to mountain is literally only 15 mins, and it’s a wonderful place to be in!
Thanks for the video. I'm in Kobe right now because of a training program and because of this video I've visited most of the places you showed and recommended. I'm from Chile and I'm gonna be here for 7 weeks.
Jam Jam jazz cafe in Kobe is really cool. It's a large underground cafe/coffee shop/bar with a collection of vinyl and a high quality stereo system. I really enjoyed my time there.
Wow, that garden looked fantastic. I never really thought Kobe would have something I would want to go to, but I guess if I ever go, I will definitely make a bee line there.
Thank for everything. Me and my family just returned after our week vacation in Tokyo. You and your videos helped us plan and really enjoy our trip. Planning next year already. Tokyo is too big. Impossible to see even half of it in a week. Food and people was awesome. BEST THANKS
I have watched most of your video all are very good quality video. 6 month ago i don't have any idea about Japan. Now by watching your video i have a good understanding about Japanese food and place,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I had problems with my battery also, got a external battery for backup, eventually that wasn't enough either, took it in, battery replaced no charge, all good now. Great videos.
Thank you for your video. I love your recommendation of visiting Kobe by foot and economical considerations. Very thoughtful for low budget traveler like me!
Spent half day in Kobe during my trip, kobe chinatown, hike to nunobiki falls and the bridge near maiko jr station, i forgot the name but i was amazed with that suspension bridge. Not really a must go there place in Japan, but i still enjoyed it.
I kinda regret didn't found your videos before leave my country. I was in Kobe bu only visited City Museum and Sannomiya. But I will be back to Japan for good. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you for the video just got back to Osaka from my day trip to Kobe. I did everything on you list. Rope line out of this word. Plus the best Kobe steak.
The one hour hike up to the herb gardens was really nice! Good exercise and you get to be really close to the waterfall. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research ahead of time because we went in the afternoon and by the time we got to the top, the garden and ropeway was closed. I went to a restaurant near Kobe station I think for Kobe beef. Found the restaurant by chance. It was around 10000 yen for a dinner set that came with an appetizer, salad, beef main course with rice, and dessert. It was so delicious!
I live in Kobe and make occasional videos too! One of my favorite parts of Kobe is visiting the animal pasture on Rokko Mountain. You need to either hike up to it or take one of the many buses but it's a fun alternative to what can be a busy afternoon in downtown kobe.
We really enjoy watching your videos and you, what you show us is truly beautiful. Thanks and Kobe join my travel list. And what a beautiful voice you have when you speak both languages.
Every time I watch your videos I wish I was exploring with you, lol. Great video. I haven't been to Kobe, but it's definitely on my bucket list. Especially for the beef!
I live in Kobe now, and I tell everyone who visits that Kobe is the "one day city." Everything can be seen/done in a single day haha. Also, I call that Starbucks in Kitano the "Harry Potter Starbucks" because the inside of it reminds me of the Hogwarts Gryfindor common room!

it's like every corner in Japan is a tourist attraction
You just gotta find it ;) Which is what I love to do!
Ed Pal
I do agree. I don’t know why I had great time every time I traveled Japan. The most popular place Hong Kong people go for sightseeing is Japan.
Haha
I live in Kobe and love it from the waterfalls to the sea it rocks
There are a lot of beautiful spot in kobe. And delicious food. For example, kobe beef , Akashi yaki, cake, bread ,and so on.

Jeremy Galloway Is it expensive to live in Kobe?
It's fairly expensive for it's low density.
