“The Jimmy Neutron boy genius” movie is basically an hour and a half long pilot of the series that was released in international theaters and Oscar nominated. Not even SpongeBob had the privilege to be Oscar nominated with its first two movies.
Fun Fact: Debbie Derryberry (Jimmy Neutron's voice actress) is the same person who voices Nergal Jr. in the Grim Adventures of Bill & Mandy!

Jimmy Neutron was always intended to be a show. The reason the movie was created first was because the creators realized they could simply recycle movie quality 3D models (which would normally be too expensive for a TV budget) when it came time to make the show.

Jimmy’s was meant to be a show only but Nickelodeon wanted a movie to see if were be successful, the movie was released in theaters. This movie actually did really well considering it’s not a high budget film, it even was nominated by the Oscar’s but lost against Shrek.
Making it a movie first was a really good move. They had more time and money to create assets and locations that could be reused in the series.
(At 13:00) Most of the songs I remember were sung by Aaron Carter, who was a lot popular in his younger days. Unfortunately, he recently passed away 2 years ago on the 5th of November.
I still have his song "Leave It Up To Me", from this movie on my iTunes playlist. Along with the version of "Parents Just Don't Understand" sung by Lil' Romeo, Nick Cannon, and 3LW.
Yep, the 2000s had some good music.
I saw this movie in theaters and I still remember the whole experience.I especially still love the climax where he turns into the size of a planet and just blows away the enemy

You wouldn't believe how many years in took me to realize that. The same way I didn't realize the woman who plays the voice of Libby also plays Tamika from the Cartoon Network show, "Class of 3000".

NSYNC I believe only had one song in this movie (song during the Retroland sequence), Backstreet Boys also had a song that you can hear if you listen closely while Jimmy, Sheen, and Carl are walking after school. However Aaron Carter did the most notable songs in this movie, "Go JImmy Jimmy" , "Leave it up to me" , and "A.C.'s Alien Nation". Unfortunately he ended up passing away in 2022, but his work in this film will be remembered; as the soundtrack and movie wouldn't be complete without it.
This movie led to the first CGI show on Nickelodeon.

Jimmy Neutron has the honor of being my second favorite Nickelodeon show, behind SpongeBob. It’s fully CG animated but still looks REALLY good for its time.

Retroland must have a isurance, because on the TV show (which is set after the movie) the park has all it's rides. Or maybe Jimmy instaled all the rides an auto pilot to make them return earth by themselfs, ,since Jimmy still has the rocket on the TV show

I have a personal theory about Jimmy Neutron, the whole town of Retroville is a military run community and Jimmy is the result of a genetic experiment, the reason why the military is there is to make sure Jimmy's experiments succeed. That's just my personal theory, but I love this movie I grew up with this show.
Theres a reason they started with a movie and not the show itself. It was pitched as a show but because it was cgi and the recent success of Toy Story a few years prior nick wanted a cgi movie under their belts. (It’s also the first major cgi movie to be made with all publicly available materials and software so because if this they could just import the same 3D models into the show with just lesser lighting)
They made a few gags in the series about how they can apparently breathe in space.

Jimmy Neutron is another great movie and series. It{s just fun wacky antics, not much like story for being a being cartoon, but just fun to watch. Just to think a 10 year old is that smart is just so cool and neat to think. Genius or not he is still a kid. He still has a lot to learn.
Special note, Goddard best boy, I mean he can self destruct and rebuild himself from scraps. Easily Jimmys best creation

I was like four or five years old when this movie was in theaters. Also you should totally watch the Jimmy neutron series. One of the best Nickelodeon shows and pretty interesting for one that used silk shading shading auto correct hates words
Movie is a great, fun time capsule of beginning-of-2000’s pop culture too. **NSYNC was awesome and the other songs like “Kids of the Future”, that take off scene was a ton of fun.

The show creators pitched to Nickelodeon that they start out with a feature length movie that way they can spend a movie budget to make the character models and other assets and reuse that for a tv series. It ended up with a tv series that had better looking 3d animation than anything else on tv at the time and didn’t cost a fortune to produce.
