Carn Bhac and a Wild Camp in Glen Ey

Ascent of the Munro Carn Bhac from Inverey, wild camping the night before near the ruined Altanour Lodge. The prolonged heatwave made it too much for Jura, the cocker spaniel to do the whole route in one day especially the Munro ascent during the hottest part of the day. I was joined on the walk by my son Lewis, who's in training for walking The Great Glen Way. This was our 1st wild camp and it was a really enjoyable trip. A dip in the river was very refreshing after coming down from the Munro and fish and chips in Braemar was just what we needed after the long walk back along Glen Ey.

This video brings back memories of my days as a ponyman ghillie some fifty years ago when I worked on Mar Estate. Altanour Lodge was a regular stop during the stalking season. The name can be seen written on some maps as Allt an Odhar meaning the Dark Burn.
