  • Test run of a 60 year old development 2 stroke motobecane engine with Dr Joe Ehrlich's boost port technology. The engine never went in to production and has been in storage for many years along with numerous parts created for the development. It was fitted to a 1966 Motobecane D52 moped, sent to Dr Joe Ehrlich at the DeHaviland aircraft small engine division. The bike ridden by Rex Avery set a 1 hour 50cc endurance record before the 1966 Monza Grand Prix with a top speed of over 65 and an average speed of 47 MPH. This video was taken at the second successful test run, the head has since been changed to one with higher compression and it now runs a lot better.

It cur out at the end because it had run out of fuel. It seems to use quite a bit, I think that was normal on 2 strokes of this era.
