I enjoyed the momentary facial expressions you insert to "say" something; they put a smile on my face. I also appreciate your not telling people at the top of the video to push the like button and subscribe. Instead you politely and appropriately ask us to push the thumbs up / like button at the end of the video. I first came to your channel (and ended up subscribing) when searching for videos on the Trangia (for emergency cooking). Although not a backpacker or even a camper at my age of 74, I find your videos educational and entertaining because of your pleasant, upbeat style of communication. Now regarding the cost of all these stoves, you can tell your wife she can be proud of you for how you serve the public even to the point of providing a service to senior citizens like me.😊 Thanks!
The thing I love about remote stoves is that with a small adaptor you can use both canister and cassette stove gas, giving fuel options. Some parts of the world it is hard to get canisters, but easy to get cans for a cassette stove. The cans for the cassette stove are also about half the price.
Ok, this stove arrived today and I did my own boil test. First of all I used an adapter for propane use. For the pot I used the Optimus Terra Weekend HE (heat exchange.) The outside temp was 57 degrees with 19 mph wind gust. Here are my timed results for a rolling boil. 16oz water took 35 seconds and 24oz came in at 1 minute and 1 second. This stove is a beast!
Sweet Christ. That thing sounds like a jet fighter. I'll stick with my Coleman 533. I like a hot drink later in the evening and don't want other campers to hate me.
I bought this stove off E-bay last year for $16.00. Now they more than doubled in price, wish I gotten two of them. Worked great at 9,000 ft elevation with 70 degree temp. I itching to see how well it performs at a 12,000 ft elevation and a 58 degree temp. I enjoyed watching your review, it was cool ! BRS Stoves aren't bad at all. Peace !
Hello Ernie... I picked one of these up for 'hopefully' fulfilling a budget-friendly stove that might be a high-value/low-cost, robust and compact enough single-burner option for outfitting folks on river floats. Occasionally you'll find a customer that may not wish to rent or purchase our higher-end stoves, maybe getting into stoves and want something user-friendly/cost-saving, or a small extra just in case. I liked the overall construction, stability, and simplicity. My findings so far are underpowered, not good at all in wind (I can blow this stove out easily) and the liquid to vapor copper tube feature might just be there for looks (after repeated try and up to temp in standard upright canister burn times... inverting canister causes massive flare-ups) Curious what your findings are? The product indicates a no return policy... so might help folks out knowing this stuff. Thank you for your thoughts and time. I look forward to your reply.
After failing this morning with my top mount canister stove at 31 degrees. I need a better iption for winter. What would be your go to for the cold? Any benefit to white gas? I assume these invert since they have the preheat tube.
One issue is the direct center flame, I like cooking food along with boiling water.. This for scratch cooking isn't gonna cut it for me.. Still sticking to my SOTO Windmaster.
I bought the BRS-11 for Christmas, and I'm puzzled by the performance. For its first use I tried boiling a quart of water to make soup. I had a new propane can and the appropriate adapter. Everything started off fine, but after a minute I needed to open the valve further. I had to continue to open the valve incrementally to keep the flame set to a mid-way setting. Then all at once my adjustments caught up and the burner kicked into a higher gear. In this state of higher flow rate the stove began pulsing like a top fuel dragster getting staged for a race. I shut the stove off and moved my pot to the kitchen stove to finish the water. After this I noticed the BRS-11 valve body was cold. Is there a special trick to the stove or is this normal? Are these camping stoves intended to be run either full-on or off? Is the valve getting cold doing something to the gas flow rate? At this point I'm wondering if I should try another one from Amazon or try a different style. I liked this one because it was sooo stable and could handle large and small pots without issue, and it keeps the cooking profile lower. I'm clumsy, and I can't cook on top of a narrow tower.
You're so excited about stoves, you've renamed the OXO scale an "OXO Stove" in your video description :) Good stuff, as always. Curious what your top recommendation is for a sub $35 option.
Lixada has a new liquid alcohol stove I'd like to see.Has a built on fuel tank, the whole gizmo looks like a food bowl you'd leave for a pet.Reviews were scary, but just might need tweeking.Thnx!
I am in the market for a 4 season stove , this seems to have the preheat burner tube , so far I like the gsi pinnacle 4 season , do u have a recommendation for a good one , will be using for winter backpacking
Hey Doc, for th price and limited usage this looks like a good stove. I like you am in the south, Roll Tde, and have learned to appreciate the cat can for simplicity and fuel abundance. Not good at high altitudes of 9k up
Great video thanks for your hard work I was wandering if you could do a video on your backing stoves that I can cook food and also boil water with thanks. I want to start car camping with my daughter and as she gets older mabe some light packing trips. She’s 3right now
So excited to this title as a fan of remote canister stoves but...for me bulk is almost more important than weight and unfortunately that thing is bulky, even for a remote canister stove.
But Ernie, you didn't test it with canister inverted. Critical for winter use. At least winter up here in NJ. Also thanks for doing these tests so don't have to. 😂
You have 30 of them, but I feel you'd be happy to have 50. Me too. You gave me your disease. I have seven to date. Now when I watch your videos, I wear a mask.
Good stove for a group - heavy and bulky. A plus with and remote canister stove : It's easy to fashion an effective windscreen from an oven liner pan. Made in China - not the best decision as a purchase these days.
Yeah that little stove is wicked not to take anything away from ur fine video but saw that crazy Russian hacker did a review also, im getting one great for camping , overlanding
I got this on the back of the review and reference to the pre-heater tube as a possible lighter replacement for my Bulin. Yes its lighter and more stable but its a weird conical shape packed. The big downside is that the puny pre-heater does not support inverted canister unlike the Bulin with its massive in-flame pre-heater. Going to keep the Bulin despite its extra weight and folding legs. There are as good wind resistant stoves out there at half the price.
? when you measure fuel usage, you do it at the point of boil. why not boil for a minute or three; for making safe water? also, if you have so/too many stoves, why not have a give away contest? thanks Doc!
Ha ha wife says 30 is to many. This is why she is your wife. And you will remain married for some time. This is how life works. And you should live longer too. Something to do with aggravation makes us live longer. So enjoy it and take care of her and live a long life. Ha. It is worth it though, doing it now. No point trading her in for a new one.
It's a pass for me. For a remote stove, it makes more sense to have a wider flame. This has the same problem as the BRS 300, too concentrated heat and too damn loud.

Your passion and levels of excitement for stoves is both contageous and joyful, cheers!

That sounds *Likely.*
Want one for bicycle traveling and power outages…
I have this stove and love it.
It's strong and has balls.
That wind bowl is nice too.
It's a winner for me!

The pot is a beast itself. Super fast

I miss Hiram Cook doing stove reviews. Nice to see you taking over for him. :)

Can you please review more stoves? Thanks.
Interesting little stove. Thanks for sharing

Great option! I haven't seen this one before. I'll check out some of your other videos to help with the choice. Thanks!
You forgot one of the pros - the loud nature of the stove will keep bears away
?? Sure I guess... For about 3.75 minutes
Very cool design! Thanks for the review!

Looks like it has some great features. I really like the wind feature. Great informative video as usual Ernie !! Take care and stay safe my friend!!!
Me being me, I have always wondered how long the hoses last. One doesnt want a failure on the trail.
I wanted to like this, but the piezo on mine never worked, and its not very windproof, and quite heavy
Yeh we made you do it !
Great video, thanks for all you do👌🤠👍

Pretty nice imo. Thanks for the review!
You don't have a problem, and we aren't enablers. That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

We all made you buy more stove 😆. Good one. Anyway, great review. Thanks
Dang... like I need another stove.
>hits "buy it now" button. 😆
Are you a BRS affiliate ? “awesome, awesome, awesome”.😂😂
Cool Stove……3 awesomes is a bit much though!
Thanks 🙏
Good day , please have a review on Camping Moon XD-1 . Thank you
Sounds like a MSR Dragonfly.. won’t the plastic piezo starter melt?
Can you invert the canister in cold weather?
Wish it wasn’t a little knob. Also like the aesthetic of titanium burn in

Already 3? Then you had better start stocking up now on a variety of stoves and associated gear .. you don't have much time 😏.
I just forked out too much money on my SVEA 123R! I just can't justify another stove at this time!
It's hell being a stovey more stoves
So excited to this title as a fan of remote canister stoves but...for me bulk is almost more important than weight and unfortunately that thing is bulky, even for a remote canister stove.
Ernie! Stop it! You're turning me into a stovehead!
This yellow flame is not a good sign for the quality of the burning process.
Yeah, the wife makes me have to justify my gear too. Methinks a bigger shed will be needed.
But Ernie, you didn't test it with canister inverted. Critical for winter use. At least winter up here in NJ. Also thanks for doing these tests so don't have to. 😂
Another nice review as usual, doc.
Will this stove support smaller pots like the Stanley Adventure pot?
I like the tornado type of burner.
I'll have to check and see...it will be close
@@PaleoHikerMD -Thanks for responding.
Can you review more Goshawk stoves? Fascinating designs and hardly any Yt vids on them.

Hard to beat my Trangia iso/butane burner with my FB Nano.
Neat stove
How to replace gas hose if someday it leak or broken in time
That is a pretty cool stove! Just subbed ya ! I did the click! LOL 2 clicks actually
Where did you pick it up at?
you and Jiujitsu2000 should do a stove collab, he has a similar stove addition
Is that the new Space X Raptor engine ?
I don't know if I will ever be able to catch up...
Yeah that little stove is wicked not to take anything away from ur fine video but saw that crazy Russian hacker did a review also, im getting one great for camping , overlanding
You should try the Primus Firestick stove. Packable and effective. I chose this over the Windmaster. I also have around 30 stoves.
Interesting stove but initially I thought you had stolen a prop from one of those UFO sighting channels.

Eight Chinese character, the first 4 from left to right. patented product. Next 4 character. imitation will be prosecuted.
A ballsy claim, considering imitating patented products is essentially the entire economy of China.
👍🏻 yes I can confirm that translation
They copied the warning and then translated to Chinese

Yeah..dirty job but someone has to collect all these different stoves...
