  • Shifting the emphasis away from high-energy, high impact practice during an injury, to a focus on basics such as posture, presentation, and musicality. I make the very most of available ice time without excerbating the pain and without draining energy. I also analyse a general cause of the injury.

Posture is key in skating. I once had a coach who used to say “You look down. You fall down.”

it is possible to look down without falling down. the name of the sport was based on a discipline where we looked down all the time. lol. but yes posture is important for technique and style.

Many thanks for these tips and reminders of the importance of a good posture. I tend to lift up my shoulders which ruins the abdominal tension. Still struggling with this... (I'm an adult beginner). Can you also give some advice how to establish a good rhythm for jumps and jump combos (ambitious beginners level ;-))?
P.s.: just watched your malevolent landscape program -- big fan of your approach to ice skating!

Nice, nice, important video. Can you make a tutorial how to keep hands up and in order. My other arm is lazy and tries to float downwards all the time. Best wishes from Finland.

keeping the arms and hands in a nice position takes awareness, self-reminders, and stamina. Keep it up! be satisfied with slow, steady progress.

rips for handling etiquette of men/boys zooming past and toddlers too close!
And through the center circle, the rinks respond with you should be skating during paid $$$ figure sessions, ha!
you need to be a level or with a coach
