The door sills on your car can take quite a beating over time and there is no reason not to replace or upgrade them while you are at it! This is such an easy install, so get to it!
Required parts and tools:
BMW M Performance door sill plates (x2) - 3D51472472521
plastic trim kit

It would help to show how to remove the plastic rivets that are stuck in the frame after you remove the sill. They are a pain to get out.
