  • Join me as I search the Thames foreshore for objects that people have lost or left behind. Even a button or a bottle stopper has a story to tell and I love to bring these lost and found objects into the limelight. Im always delighted to receive information about my finds so put a comment in the comments section if you think you know something about any of the items in this video.
    You can follow me on twitter and instagram @tidelineart
    You do need a permit to search the Thames foreshore in any way. You can find out details of how to apply for one here:-

    Fascinating, particularly when you consider that only a short time mudlarking enables one to uncover such windows into the past! By all means, hire your Mum as a researcher.

    I love the mud Christmas present analogy! I often feel that exact way when I'm working with Amber. You never know what beauty it hides until it's exposed. I knew you were standing next to Frederick Jury's resting spot the moment it showed on screen. That was a great larking adventure and I thank you for both that, and for keeping his memory alive. Loved seeing your Mum!! She did a wonderful job! All the best to you both!

    Nicola, I will probably never go mud-larking. but I really love watching your videos. They are so well made and relaxing with that "Never no what you might turn up next factor". I hear youngsters nowadays say there is nothing to do or I'm bored. If its not a computer game or a face book page the majority show little interest in anything else. I was fortunate enough to have parents that bought me up to appreciate the great outdoors and all it has to offer, from nature, history, foraging and so much more. If there is such a thing could the Mudlark community come together and advertise this fantastic hobby to the younger generation? Sorry its an o.a.p. rambling!

    I’m now officially addicted to your channel... As a child my sister and I would mudlark along the banks of the river Tweed, one summer finding so much lead that my father sold it to the battery recycling man at the family garage: Tweedside Motors. We felt quite rich after that. Again to my question: why so much unfired ammunition? Butterfingers?

    • @nicolawhitemudlark
      @nicolawhitemudlark  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @ashbell6712
      @ashbell6712 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can tell you that misfiring was a very common incident with any model of older military machinery, from Lee Enfield rifles to shelling equip. once they heated up they often started to misfire

Xx Now every time l see those great little buttons, l can see myself sewing a cream ladies blouse/shirt in a modern design and placing the better buttons, all polished and sprayed on this blouse, (to prevent tarnishing). Wouldn't that be something just great, perhaps buttons from the textile industry or the like and another type of metal button encased in 9ct gold for a pendant. Anyway, hope you had a lovely Christmas with Mum (Anita) last year. Love and kisses to you both and thanks so, so much for the video. Xx

    Oh! Yes! I think you should start an annual tradition amongst your fellow mudlarks of getting together & exchanging gifts of items you’ve found. Everybody bring a find it a sealed container of mud!

    How wonderful to see your Mum Nicola!! She's sweet and reminds me of my Mum, who passed a few years ago!

    They say the Apple 🍎 doesn’t fall far from the tree 🌳. It’s nice to share time with your mum. You two are very similar. All the best forshore 😁🇦🇺

    Love watching your videos, each is such a treat. Thank you so much for giving renewed life to treasures of the past. You have a gift for telling their stories. To be sure the greatest treasure in this video is your mother. How I long for mine. ❤️

    I don't know anyone else would be so excited by a gift wrapped in mud. They are so very interesting even to me here in the USA.

    You can never have too many white clay tobacco pipes! Your Mum did any excellent job - definitely hire her full time. Happy New Year

    My favorite mud-wrapped Christmas present has to be Nicola White out on the foreshore and Mum Anita by her side during the wrap-up. Thanks once more for a thoroughly interesting adventure. So looking forward to what 2020 will bring!

    Only came across your videos recently, slowly going through them from the start (after watching many of your recent ones first), I love all the history behind the items you find - well done Mum! - I'm from the UK but now live in Cyprus. If only we all knew what 2020 had in store for us! Right on to the next video.....thanks for sharing your larking with us all xx

    Brilliant stuff, the story behind things is fantastic. Good research Anita! I'd love all my presents wrapped up in Thames mud! Still working on getting my permit and up to London (health permitting) I even have a printer's letterpress tray ready for finds! Always inspired by you Nic. Happy finding for 2020. 😊

    Great pieces of social history being unearthed by you. Wonderful stuff. It does,as you rightly say,bring these people back to life.
