    New Caledonia has HUGE amounts of nickel which France has hauled out by the tonnes for years and years, earning FRANCE a fortune. New Caledonia is given a slice, but only a meagre slice.

      This made the French government hugely popular for a moment of time with the people of New Caledonia and the independence parties knew this, which is why they chose not to vote knowing they would lose in a landslide, and decided to save face by boycotting. Yeah let's not immediatly crucify france for not giving independence to a colony that voted 3 times to stay a colony. I'm all for independence to all nations but a lot of times these colonial areas actually receive more money from the government than they produce. I'm going to need more information to make up my mind. Maybe it really is just a bunch of hooligans.

      Those protests are because the US government funds 60% of the Israeli military and the IDF killed over 35,000 innocent people, and so the students AS US CITIZENS are protesting their government.
      The US government doesn't fund and prop up the French government.

    In this context, France hasn't changed that much since the 1800s. They have terrible relationships with all their former colonies. It's very easy to see why, from Central African Republic to South America they are constantly trying to take from and advantage of the people. Their policies are still as racist as when they were in control of North Africa. Makes me wonder why their culture is so exalted around the world

      Concerning membership of the BRICS, the basis of which is initially based on two strictly economic criteria, but not forgetting the political issues, a unanimous vote of the five countries is required, as in the Security Council, or membership in NATO. , a single country with a veto that can block any membership.

    Kanaks represent 39% of the population of New Caledonia and their population increases compared to other communities. The Kanak people enjoy wide autonomy and run many territorial institutions. What to say in comparison to the situation in Australia or New Zealand, where the native populations were exterminated (3% of the Australian population) (15% of the New Zealand population) and where their autonomy is marginal. They could also talk about the fate of the native populations of North or South America and their degree of autonomy. Anti-French criticism is based on prejudice...look in your own country at the fate of minorities before criticizing others.

    • @JamesSmith-je7vf
      @JamesSmith-je7vf 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      That is no excuse to continue the subjugation and exploitation of the Kanak people, which is also in violation of the UN Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and People. Kanaks voted 100 % for independence, the fact that the French colonizers want to continue the exploitation is completely irrelevant to the rights of the Kanak people according to international law and UN Charter. As Nelson Mandela said “only through hardship, sacrifice and militant action can freedom be won” and the Kanak people deserve freedom.
