I have a '19 250X and I take it to Glen Helen all the time. So long as you're not trying to clear triples, my 250X handles any terrain you throw at it. Tracks, trails, dunes, desert, the 250X is the all-in-one machine.
I agree its very versatile.
Ayeeee good ole breezewood. I also test rode this bike when five star was there for rally in the valley. Just recently sold my Yfz450r will be picking up a yz250 in the spring for sure.
In the olden days, a MX track used to be rough and we knew we had bad suspension. Today, most tracks I see on you-tube are more like dirt roads with jumps and berms. I just picked up a 2019 YZ250 after 18 years of not riding, and I hear the SSS suspension is much better than anything I ever rode with. But how can they tell? :)
My last bike (of many MX bikes) was a 97 KX250, and they make the 2-strokes too damn tall today. If you are 5'10" or shorter, get the bike lowered so your not sitting on a skyscraper. I am paying about a grand to get my 2019 lowered, so I can ride the damn thing. I can't believe I don't hear people complaining about how tall the bikes are today. No wonder why our corner speed stinks today and they need booster blocks for the start.
I'll have to disagree with you on the height. Lowering a bike a sad thing to do unless you're 5 foot 4 or shorter.
My wife is 5 foot 2 and rides a KX250f stock height with 0 issues.
Hell Ricky Carmichael was like 5 foot 5 or 6.
@@mxgryan he’s old
@@aidanmacdonald6602 lol
I second your complaint about how tall bikes are these days. Probably doesn't matter too much on an MX track but in an enduro environment a bike that is too tall makes the bike almost unridable.
@@Rossi46Moore I do agree with you, even the 65s and 85s get so tall, I rode a 2021 yz 85 and holy its tall for a little 85. The other day I rode a mates 2001 kx 250, and I actually liked it more than the newer bike just because it's wasn't a skyscraper, and I was way more confident on it than a 2020 450
video is crisssppppp
Video quality is looking better?!
I want! I want!
Were you referring to the 250FX or F?
In which statement
250X it’s the 2021 2 stroke
@@mxgryan i think when you said you would rather ride the 250x over 250f he is wondering if you meant 250fx or just x
@@mrsnow4444 250X...which is what I said. Haha
Turning faster laps on that than your KTM, I believe.
It definitely felt like stepping back in time...its nice to visit 2003 every once in awhile
The MX Guru Hard to believe you can go faster on an antique than the new age equipment lol
@@briantrofy9951 haha I actually felt fastest on this track on the 2019 rmz 450
How's the power delivery compared to a 250f?
250F is way better obviously, but this has the best power delivery of any 2 stroke MX bike.
@@mxgryan lol the 250f is closer to a 125 two stroke. You didn’t get into the power once it’s not a lazy 4 stroke.
@@allenseferagic9426 Lol you're a clueless troll. There is more to motorcycles winning races than max engine HP, you squid boi.
@@mxgryan yeah it's called skill
@@mxgryan well to be fair you were riding it like a 4 stroke so it probably does feel like the 250f is better. You didn’t get Into the meat of the power at all on the X
Is this bike considered a cross country bike?
Yessir. Although its also considered a single-track bike. Just depends on the specific setup.
It is, but it's a really great bike no matter what type of riding you do. I like mine for single track and general cross country trails and fire roads, but I've had it on an MX track before and it's great on that too.
In all honesty that bike was not running well way outta tune..I have an and when my bike was not jetted right much like that one the vibration was so bad it numbed my hands..when jetted correctly its way better..but it's still there
450 all day
That’s not a 2021 the 2021’s have blue number plates
Man...i bet that makes a big difference in how it rides too.
Jack mehoff
c'mon dude, that’s a woods bike bring to single track bro and let see if it shines .
I will next month, but sadly this was the only option I had for this ride. Trust me, im not into taking bikes with kickstands onto mx tracks.
@@mxgryan I can't see the bike as you ride, but it did not look like the track was too much for it. You even came up a bit short a few times, and still looked like a good landing. I don't think you were riding as fast as you know how, and I still did not see MX 4-strokes beating you down.
@@EarthSurferUSA you're right about this for sure! Theres nothing at all wrong with the YZ250X. But would I want to be on one on a motocross track over my KTM450? Never.
