Dogs are such beautiful creation of Allah. Allah created them with nature that is very affectionate to humans and they can be great tool to teach children to care for others and responsibilities of feeding a dog or a cat helps kids learn to later become generous to feed needy and orphans. Dogs also can give us good example how we should be loyal to each other and loving and approach each other with love and affection ..Salaam and we love you brother. And we should all love each other and spread peace on earth ..

Ruling on keeping pictures and children’s toys
      01-07-2008
      Question 20325
We know from Hadith that the Angels do not enter into a house where pictures/phograhps of living things (humans or animals )are displased.
What is the ruling for keeping the photographs of family relatives and pictures appearing in magazines/news papers etc. and toys like dolls and sruptures of animals.
Your kind reply based on teaching of Quran and Hadith is most kindly requested. May Allah bless you for this act of kindness.
      Answer
      Praise be to Allaah.
      Firstly:
Image-making is of two types: one by hand and the other by means of machines.
Image-making by hand is haraam, and is in fact a major sin, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who does it. He did not differentiate between images that have a shadow (i.e., three-dimensional) or those that are simply drawn (two-dimensional), according to the more correct scholarly opinion, because of the general meaning of the hadeeth.
With regard to image-making by means of machines, i.e. cameras, there is a difference of opinion among the later scholars on this matter. Some of them forbid it and some of them allow it.
In order to be on the safe side, it is better to avoid that, because it is one of the doubtful areas. And whoever is careful with regard to doubtful matters will protect his religious commitment and his honour. But if he needs to do that for a specific purpose such as proving his identity, there is nothing wrong with that because if there is a need, the matter is no longer doubtful.
      Secondly:
With regard to keeping pictures, this is also of two types:
The first type is keeping images that are three-dimensional. Keeping them is haraam. Ibn al-‘Arabi narrated that there is consensus on this point. See Fath al-Baari, p. 388, vol. 10). He said: This consensus has to do with things other than girls’ dolls.
It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “I used to play with dolls in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and I had friends who would play with me. When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered they would hide themselves and he would call them to come and play with me. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 5779; Muslim, no. 2440.
The second type is images that are not three-dimensional. These are of different types:
1-Those that are hung up to be venerated and respected, as in the case of pictures of kings, presidents, ministers, scholars etc. This is haraam because it involves exaggeration about a created being.
2-Those that are hung up for the sake of memory, such as hanging up pictures of one's friends. This is also haraam, because of the hadeeth narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari from Abu Talhah (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said: “I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘The angels do not enter any house in which there is a dog or an image.’” Narrated by Muslim, no. 2104).
3-Those that are hung up for the purpose of adornment. These are also haraam because of the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came back from a journey and I had hung a patterned curtain on which there were images over (the door of) a room of mine. When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw it, he tore it and said, ‘The most severely punished of the people on the Day of Resurrection will be those who tried to imitate the creation of Allaah.’” She said: “So I made it into one or two cushions.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 5610; Muslim, no. 2107.
4-Those that are treated with disrespect, such as images in carpets and pillows. Al-Nawawi narrated from the majority of scholars among the Sahaabah and Taabi’een that these are permissible.
5-Those that have unfortunately become widespread and are difficult to avoid, such as images engraved on coins etc which have become a problem for the Muslim ummah. It seems to me that there is no sin on the one who acquires these without wanting to acquire images.
      Thirdly:
With regard to dolls that children play with:
An exception is made in the case of children’s toys, which are not regarded as haraam or makrooh. But what are the toys which are exempted? We know that the toys of the past did not have eyes and lips and noses as they do nowadays. I think it is better to avoid these toys and limit oneself to those the kind of toys that were known previously.
      See Fataawa al-‘Aqeedah by Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, p. 66, 663, 679
      And Allaah knows best.

People have been misunderstanding dogs for such a long time. Allah states the means to cleanse yourself after touching or being touched by them. Allah states it is haram to eat them because they are supposedly domestic pets/trained pets. Dogs are such loyal and protective animals, plus they are cute 😙 I had 4 myself, they stayed outside beyond our front door and are not allowed in, but my family gave them a shaded area on the yard, no cage, no chains. They were house guards and the family pet. They were never hit, thrown, nor in any way abused for anything. We loved and played with them, and they did lick our hands, feet, as expression of love. It actually allowed us to be alert of the area we needed to cleanse and purify.

Just one honest remark. For guarding I rather have my dog inside. The reason is that an intruder will never ever have enough time to stop the attack of the dog at such a short distance. Plus as an owner your alerted too so dog + owner= very bad day for the intruder.
The cleaning the part the dog licked I understand. I am just happy to here that you cared and loved your dogs that good. Dogs are the most loyal friends a human can have. Always more loyal than most people (muslim or not). I believe Allah has given us dogs to help us through are live here on earth.

Couple years ago story of a blind Muslim kid who was assisted by guide dog hit the news headlines when he wanted to go to mosque for Juma prayers. Unlike muslim countries here in Canada you can't deny entry of a guide dog any where. This question always bothered me that why there is such strict rules about dog in Islam. What if my child is blind and a dog can become his eyes in his daily life. A bind person is already missing a big part of his ability and on top of it we limit him more by not letting him at our home, mosque, restaurants, taxi, bus, school just because he is accompanied by a dog.

If you read the qur’an it actually praises dogs. There is nothing in the qur’an that says put the dogs outside the house.’Do NOT prohibit, hurt or abandon dogs’!!
Surah Al-kahf 18:22 - Allah mentions the dog 3 times in this one verse alone even though there’s no need for it. The dog in this verse is INSIDE the cave guarding.
The reason why muslims started believing these stupid things about prohibiting dogs in the house, dogs are dirty, wash your hands with dirt, your prayers don’t count if a dog walks in front is because of the Abu Hurairah Hadith! Abu Hurairah was known to have a bias against women and dogs. Guess what Abu Hurairah means? It means ‘Father of a Kitten’. Use your brains and common sense people.

Mullas and mufti are adding flavours that guard dog shouldn't be here or guard dog shouldn't be pet. To hell with these stupid ppl of our ages. Loving and kindness to animals is encouraged by Prophet SAW. But please don't let the dog inside room or prayers area.

Same here. I have a dog and love him very much. And, he stays in my house. He is very clean, and I'm a practicing Muslim. Allah swt specifically mentions the dogs in the Quran and places no prohibitions on them. The Quran is the criterion for what's right and wrong, not the Hadith. The Hadith should support the Quran, not mention new rules. I believe the false stigma on dogs stems from culture and not pure Islam.

I am heart broken since then. I pray 5 times a day in a diferent room in my house where dog cannot come in. My dog has been with me for 12 years, he seen the good and the not so good times with me and stayed loyal.. he is sick of lately because of his age so I take care of him.. but I cry a lot thinking I will have no good deeds left if Allah Subhan Wa'Tala allows me to stand infront of Him on the day of judgement, because of what the Sheikh said.. My only hope that I am holding to everyday is... Not to give up hope from Allah Subhan Wa'Tala. His Mercy is greater than my sins... Oh Allah Subhan Wa'Tala Forgive me please.. for I am so confused. That is really good to hear, because I never really understood how cats are seem as great and clean pets in Islam, whereas dogs are seen as terrible and dirty. Everyone who owns cats knows that they'll have even bits and pieces of their own stool in their fur every once in a while, the only difference to dogs is, that they lick themselves clean. Also cats are sometimes rather mean to babies and children, whereas dogs tend to be gentle and playful with them. One thing that bothers me about both of them as pets is the fact that they shed hair and that an apartment or house is not a appropriate place to keep them in. Keeping them in the garden only doesn't seem to be totally morally correct as well to me as long as they're not guard dogs. It's weird lol

I am a new muslim convert. I converted to Islam on 1st Ramadan. Everything is going extremely fine but there is one concern. I have a pet dog at my home and many of my muslim friends say that give your dog to shelter or my salah would not be accepted at all. And one of my friend say that if dogs saliva touches me once then i am impure for 40 days. So in this 40 days none of my prayers and duas and charities will hold no meaning at all... I am really depressed because of this so please can you suggest me what is right???

    • @munibashah8984
      @munibashah8984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Since you just converted to Islam, take it one step at a time. Try to get your basics down first. There are hadith which show that keeping dog is not permissible unless for guarding or hunting. And according to my knowledge, the saliva is impure and there is a particular cleaning ritual you have to do when it touches your skin (wash seven times, one of which should be with earth)
But your prayer being invalidated for 40 days, I don't think that is true. I have never heard a scholar say such a thing. Yes, I do know this applies to a person who drinks alcohol - the prayer being invalidated, that is.
But brother, try your best. Being a revert, try not to overwhelm yourself and get the basics down first and then build up from there. Allah never burdens a soul from more than what it could bear (paraphrasing here). And He knows how much capable you are. Don't overburden yourself. And keep asking for His help and His forgiveness. You might be familiar, that before the ruling of prohibition of alcohol was revealed, the Muslims were revealed not to approach prayer with their minds befogged. Because alcohol consumption was pretty common in the time of ignorance. Now, I'm not advising you to start drinking alcohol or the like. But advising you to try to shape your life according to Islam as best as you can and at a pace that you can manage.
And I would confirm that keeping a dog without the reasons permitted by Islam is not permissble. So you have to be mindful. And also, there's a hadith I came across online:
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog that is trained for hunting or a dog for herding livestock, his reward will decrease each day by two qeeraats.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5059; Muslim, 2941; according to another version narrated by them both, “one qeeraat”).

*Rule 1:* You can’t have a dog come inside your house
      Source: Narrated Abu Talha:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Angels do not enter a house that has either a dog or a picture in it." (Sahih Al-Bukhari: 3322)
*Rule 2:* We can only have Dogs for useful purposes
