  • Last year me and Stuart took on the Berlin marathon but sadly, it wasn't meant to be, although we came away with some cracking times, it wasn't the times we had trained for.
    2022 we were lucky enough to get a another shot at the iconic Berlin marathon.
    We return to try race ourselves our dream goals of sub 5 hours and sub 2 hours 40.
    Can we achieve them one year on?

    Amazing effort and so special that you smashed the sub 5 and at a world major! Hope that medal is in a frame 😁. I've got 1 marathon in the bag but no where near a sub 5. Hopefully 1 day!

      Thank you. It took me 4 marathons to get that sub 5, at times I really didn't think it was possible, especially as I did Berlin 2021, and it didn't go to plan at all. But I can say it was worth the wait. You'll get there, even when it does seem impossible. Good luck with it 😁

    Nice video!. Congrats you Berlin Legend 🎉.
    Please I want to ask about how you got in?.
    I tried but was unsuccessful via Ballot for Berlin and London. I'm seriously hoping to get in next year for one or both ✌🏾

      Thank you. Yes ballot, took a while though! Berlin I got in after my 3rd ballot but London was the killer, 12 attempts. Just keep trying, its worth it

      @@DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures thanks for your response.
      Got it.... you're right, it's definitely worth it.
      I'm trying in so many ways to get places. Maybe even as a Pacer. I'll keep trying. Thank you and good luck for your next races 😊💪🏾

    Well done on a huge PB! I’m yet to do Berlin but it’s on the list as I’m going for the world majors - New York next week and Chicago next year! Only Berlin and Tokyo to go after that 🎉 Well done 👏

      Thank you. That is so exciting, Im hoping to aim for Chicago next year too. So jealous of you doing New York!
      You'll love Berlin when you do it.

    Congratulations on sub 5 ! Did you follow any pacing strategy? Thnx 👍🏼

    • @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures

      Thank you Not really, I knew my average pace needed to be around 11:25 for just under 5, so in training i did alot of miles at marathon pace. 11:25 is a pace I can easily run but in a marathon it's such a long way and last year I struggled. So just made sure I did alot paced training which must of worked 😂

      @@DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures thanks. What wqs your longest distance (or time) that you trained at marathon pace ? I'm preparing for my first this December.

    • @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures
      @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plan was to aim for around 15-16 miles, on this occasion I did manage a full 20 at marathon pace, but I did have the training already there. You don't need to do 20 at marathon pace, do whatever is best for you. Start with something easy like 5 miles then build up. My first training block was so hard, found it better this time round but struggled near the end, but thankfully paid off 🤞

    I find it very strange that you are upset that you don't get the finisher shirt for free. The BERLIN MARATHON is by far the cheapest WMMAJORS. Not everyone wants a finisher shirt. And if you want one, you can just buy it.

    • @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures
      @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      The London Marathon is actually the Cheapest at only £50!.
      I wasnt upset, I have bought my own finisher top for the past 2 years. I was just stating that its the only major you don't get a tshirt included. I agree that not everyone wants one, why I didnt buy one for Sundays 10k race. Its good to see positive changes to avoid wastage

      I wish I could buy a place in the London Marathon for just £50. 😂 £126 for international runners.But in the raffle there are actually almost no starting places for international runners. So you have to buy a very expensive BIB through a tour operator or a charity. 😏

    • @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures
      @DanniiAndStuRunningAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow, that's quite a difference! I'm doing Chicago this year, which is costing me over 200, cant remember the exact amount. So more expensive then Berlin. I know London is the hardest to get into for international runners which is such a shame really
