I've tried covering Nirvana on countless occasions, and there's something magical about their songs that I have never been able to capture, and I've seen other musicians much more talented than me suffer the same issue. The concern was completely unwarranted. This cover brought the magic.
Fun bit of trivia, in the original 1991 recording there is a cello that sounds a little bit off. The cello is not off, the rest of the instruments in the band were tunned to Kurt's guitar.... which was perpetually out of tune. Despite multiple "better" recordings of the song including the 1993 Unplugged recording existing the out-of-tune 1991 version generally gets used. It was also the version used in the 2020 batman trailer that put the song in its best-ever billboard rankings including a top 2 in the US for the first time.....29 years after it was recorded. Edit: I'm not so proud that I won't take advantage of this being a top comment Leo might read. "We kill the flame" - Leonard Cohen cover, please!! - Also not only was Kurt's guitar out of tune for that recording, but the tempo was also so off that Dave Grohl apparently had a really hard time applying the drum track. On the distant chance someone still reading this doesn't know who Dave Grohl is....google it for a treat.

He always keeps you on you toes as you never quite know what he'll do next or how he'll do it. Like this cover, he kept the beautiful and haunting overtone of the original with a bit more intensity without going full on screamo which is what I expecting when I clicked on the video. He's fantastic
