And nobody even knows who wrote it lol look at all of Phil Collins other songs, they all suck. No way he wrote this. Most big bands never write their own songs anyways, the industry is pretty effin corrupt and rigged. Sell out or never get famous. The only 2 options, talent comes 2nd.
I admire Leo's fearlessness in the songs he chooses. So many of these songs should be impossible to cover, especially as heavy metal, but he makes them all awesome.
Fun fact, Gabriel’s Genesis bandmate Phil Collins was playing the drums as usual when his beats were accidentally picked up by the microphone used by audio engineers to talk to the band. That microphone wasn’t meant to record music-its heavy compressors were designed to turn down loud sounds while amplifying quiet ones. The equipment also utilized a noise gate, which meant the recorded sounds were cut off shortly after they started. The result was a bright, fleeting percussive sound unlike anything heard in popular music. Gabriel loved the effect, and made it the signature sound on the opening track of his album. A year later, Collins featured it in his hit single “In the Air Tonight,” perhaps the most famous example of gated reverb to date. Time: 3:13
Mostly accurate but according to the engineer, the noise gate wasn't part of the initial 'discovery' but rather something they added on later "almost for a laugh". www.psneurope.com/studio/reverb-sound-discovery-hugh-padgham

Hello Leo, I'm a 51 years old man and this song is in my head together the '80 & '90 classics... Thank you very much for this great version. Have a great 2021. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina (South America).
Always made me smile when I'd see people talking about this track being about revenge instead of personal despair. Phil collins did a wonder with this track. The internalised turmoil and man vs his worst enemy, himself. I remember being knee high to a grasshopper when I was given advice that was "remember only you, can ever truly break your heart" For a pop star this song is a dark representation of self hatred and self destruction and Leo pulled it off a seriously perfect cover.
First verse sounds like he was a bystander to something horrible. 2nd verse has a lil of the 'Hello me, it's me again' kinda vibe but its unclear about much except that the subject(s?) are keeping silent about what happened. I picture a child witnessing his single mother getting killed then growing up with it festering. Then years later.. 'I've seen your face before, my friend But I don't know if you know who I am'. Then he confronted and killed (since it was the last time) the killer 'It's the first time. The last time we ever met'. Then living with the guilt of the secret same as the original killer did. 'Well, the hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows It's no stranger to you and me' Being consumed by and acting on revenge would be self destructive and cause self hatred so maybe some of that is in there but the hatred in the first verse certainly seems like its toward someone else. Since Phil Collins himself won't admit to knowing what the song is about, I guess its all speculation but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if phil has a few skeletons in the closet.
Leo is obviously a genius. All the versions he does are simply amazing. They are all kind of funny, heavy yes, but funny also. This one is a different beast. It's dark, dense, gives the goosebumps

An excellent homage to Phil Collins' song. I have heard several versions from other bands, and I'm still thinking it's a toss up between this and In This Moment's version, both of which I love. Chris Daughtry did a good job with Brad Arnold, but as with most bands, I feel there isn't the passion and power behind it. So, in closing, Leo, you are somewhere in my top 3, with In This Moment, and the original. Well done! I think I'll have to listen to it a couple hundred more times, just to be sure... ;)
Damn. Leo, my dude. You knocked this one out of the park. The park, is like... A tiny dot in the distance from here. This cover is crazy good, definitely in your top ten, maybe top three. Aces.
This is the ONLY version of this song that I can listen to. I love Phil Collins (I'm an 80's guy) but have always found his version of this song to be probably the most nauseating hit song from the 80's. If I ever suffer from insomnia I know I can put his song on and it will knock me out like anesthesia. For me this song takes too long to finally rock (Phil's never does) but yours really kicks ass at the 4 minute mark. I like the close up facial expressions in your video (That's metal).

Hell yes. Badass song. Shred city.
Do it!
Love this idea!
Perhaps this is the most delicious outstanding clip - the music of this musician!😋
Even a fun loving guy like Leo can't sway from the seriousness of this song. What a sick cover
First thought when i see leo covering this masterpiece, "how dare you touch this perfection?!".... then i listen and i should have known it would be good cause Leo is a genious. A genious covering a genious
The same thoughts, original is just a masterpiece, but cover is definitely not bad
@@unbeliever12 no, of course not. Leo is great. But no one can out Collins the Collins
@@kjc4792 yep
When does this guy sleep? . Truly phenomenal talent
This is the first time since this song came out that i could understand every single word in the song. Its amazing what a little annunciation can do. I like this as much as the cover of Funky Cold Medina and Sultans of Swing!
Me: „Hey Leo, which bands and songs can you do cover songs of?“
Leo: „Yes“
“I Ran” Flock of Seagulls.
Word...
Yes!!! That would be epic!
Already done. last year.
@@chriscasseday7707 i dont think he did
Everybody listening... "I'm waiting for that drum roll pass..."
Perfect drum roll followed by wicked guitaring
3:13
Yeah...
And he did not disappoint
Well..yeah.
One of my favorites 😢actually can relate Thank you Leo
I was just thinking about this song earlier this morning. Chills from this version. Lit
"Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers ?🤷
That would be a good cover. Good suggestion
That would be so sweet would love to see more older songs like that turned into a cover.
I couldn't help but think about Paul Simon's "you can call me al". I can only imagine how much fun you would have with that
This dude is absolutely awesome in a class of his own soooooooo goooooood.
DAMN dude,,that song rocked but you just took it up to a whole nother level .
NONPOINT
And now this version.
Perfection.
was waiting for someone to mention the nonpoint version which i honestly prefer over this but still a good cover.
damn. this hits hard. Phil nailed it. you did it respect and nailed it too. this song doesn't get touched unless your on it. well done.
Great Cover!!!!!!! Of a Great Song!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 70 still Rock n Roll!!!!!!!
Well done!
I think I'll have to listen to it a couple hundred more times, just to be sure... ;)
I love In This Moment's version!!! This one is awesome also!
Nonpoint did a good version too
I haven't heard Nonpoint's version yet, I'll have to look it up!
How about a metal version of Faith No More - Epic.
That would be: Epic!
Look up Atreyu. They did metal cover of it years ago if you wanna hear a metal version of it. ;)
One of the best bands!!
Damn. Leo, my dude. You knocked this one out of the park. The park, is like... A tiny dot in the distance from here. This cover is crazy good, definitely in your top ten, maybe top three. Aces.
Great version of a great song
Well done Leo, well done
even his "thank you for watching my video" sequence at the end is better than most of today's pop songs.
Much prefer your voice when you sing like this, nice job man.
Yeah same like it when he shows us his range as a singer.
Deffo mate, would have been cool to have a kick ass Erock solo in there as well, they should work together more.
Thank you Sir . You made everything great again .
