I'm a Landy fan through and through but unfortunately my darling wife somehow doesn't share my enthusiasm ;-) We have been talking recently about sorting a camper van so this is very helpful, especially learning what works and also what doesn't. Space and weight are the biggest issues and more of one thing will always be a compromise against something else and also learning what we do and don't want in it. Cheers for another great video.
Don’t think I’ve ever commented but the production quality of the videos and the way they are structured with different shots has gone through the roof lately (couldn’t help myself) pleasure to watch, thank you. Keep it up.
@@Bugoutvehiclesuk no worries at all. I shall endeavour to do my best to not put clarkson memes on posts 🤦🏻♂️. You know what them voices in your head get like. They keep you up at night and that’s when you start buying car parts you really shouldn’t 😱. She’s coming on a treat though. Have you named it yet?
It's all going to be worth it in the long 🏃♀️ run, well Rome was not built in a day . As thay say built for comfort not for speed. Nice one 👍 Rich catch you on the next one 👏.
I am digging this Sprinter build Rich. I am liking the medium Silver on Black trim paint of this van, but I think something like a darker silver would look better when you get it wrapped.
Yea I wanted one of the blue ones so I could justify painting it. I’m not a fan of how bright it is but it’s in amazing condition for it’s age. Ideally I’d like a dark tan and black
It's coming along nicely. I am getting to the age where I want/need to be more comfortable and able to actually stand up in the back. The pop top looks like a good alternative. 😉
Rear windows look superb. Totally change the look of the vehicle. Was a bit confused as to why you need the side-flares if you're going to have a bed in the pop-top. Is the plan to have a bench-seat across the back that can be used as a bed or are they just there to create more interior space? Y'know, fitting the tank for the diesel heater to the door is actually a smart idea.... if you can find a way to do it neatly. Even if you spill a tiny bit of diesel while filling the tank it'll stink up the inside of a vehicle so fitting the tank to the door means any spilled diesel goes on the floor instead of inside the vehicle. I have a fuel tank for a diesel-heater and a water tank in the back of my Disco' and I've found the tidiest way to fill them is to fill up a 5 gallon drum and then use a little submersible electric pump to transfer fuel/water into the vehicle's tanks. Just got to make sure I don't mix up the pumps or drums. 🤢
Watched it all Rich ! That makes me an analytic hero! Great content and you seem really exited about the build! Having had a T5 pop top, it’ll be interesting to see how you keep the rain out at speed! 😅
Looking good, I have switched from landy based camping to a home converted van which I am stumbling through building at the moment. Great to keep up with what your doing gives me some ideas too 🙂👍👍
Hi Rich Have you seen the Bluetti D050S? You can connect it to you power station to act as a B2B charger in the van, you can also charge from solar at the same time, Loving the build 👍
Hi Rich How are you getting on with the round snorkel pre-cleaner? We fitted one to our van prior to a trip to Morocco and the Sahara last year to keep the sand intake down but had to change back to the standard snorkel intake after the blocked air filter dash warning came on when we started long mountain climbs south of Fes. We had checked the filter and it was fine. So sussed the engine was being starved of air. When we spoke to a French sprinter 4x4 driver out there we noticed his snorkel bowl was much larger than ours hence being able to pull in more air so he hadn’t had a problem. The supplier agreed to us returning it when we got back but it was already discoloured by the heat so binned it and now just reverse the intake the same as the Moroccans when heading through sand n snow storms.
Looking great ! How did you pick that particular pop top - Is there much difference in quality between various brands? Love the idea of it fully unzipping and opening up. Do you know the brand/model of the pop top you had installed? I’m trying to price up a dream conversion but am based over in France 🇫🇷 .
I absolutely love the idea to fit a T6 roof to a sprinter. Because I’m from Germany I wonder whether there is any registration requirement in UK if you cut such a large hole in the roof to fit a pop top that is not originally designed for this vehicle. Did you have any issues there?
We don’t have any rules on things like that. The only issue would be if some one died in a crash and that was a cause. For every bit of strength I have taken out I have replaced it with more in different places.
Is there a reason why all of the pop tops, open towards the front of the vans? I would of though that if travelling at speed, it could rip up? Never see them pop up at the back.Great vid! Vans looks awesome!👍🏼
Its beautiful but it's a rust bucket in 6 months this is not made to be put into deep water sorry I got a brand new sprinter 4x4 and in 6 months I had crazy rust not worth buying to be honest but like I said beautiful build
Great video man, but first you make me want to get an ambulance like you did and now this. Your a bad influence. My only complaints would be I would have loked to see how you mounted the diesel heater, and I need a UK dictionary to know what a "turrent" is.
Its looking great, really enjoy how you think out of the box and push the boundaries. thanks for sharing
I do get a lot of help and iv got a fair few ears that I bend.
Rich, love the progess you are making on the van, as well as explaining that thing are temporary to get them working!
Fantastic, a real proper guy doing a simple and practical video. Love your approach mate. Van will be great 👍
Thank you very much.

Liking the new editing mate, that roof gives you plenty of head room. Can’t wait to see it in person

Really enjoying the build, I'm a landy man but I actually really like the way this is going.

Checking out your build, after subbing last night while on uao’s livestream
Great build, coming along nicely. Also, this new format of slightly shorter snappy videos is working really well. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you. I’m still filming as much but cutting way more out. I still plan on longer camp vids but I’d like to keep these to the point.
Looking forward to the whole build..
Nice one
Another great video, still missing Edna though 😢 cheers for the educational builds 👍
Yea. Not long till Edna’s fixed and I think I will have to take both out for a local camp.
Really interesting, enjoying the build

Looking the dogs danglies
Wow that's some progress 👏 looks Bill thanks for sharing 🇮🇪 🚐 😀 👍
Thanks 👍
cool vid thanks lee

Van looking pretty smart now. Could you/would you plumb the diesel heater directly into the vehicle's fuel tank? Or is it more faff than it's worth?

How about a land rover pannier for you're diesel ⛽ fuel tank mounted beside your filler cap outside insulated & secured💂

Is there any reason why you didn't run the heater fuel line into the vehicle fuel tank ?
Yes. I like to see what I’m using and red diesel is half the price.
Somebodies been busy.
Oh yes.
mega van
So did the power bank actually run the diesel heater? All of the smaller ones that I’ve seen, are too low power and shut off as the heater starts.
Poptop uk sell the sprinter/crafter poptop roofs
hi rich, thats more head room than i imagened, how dose the fabric seal to the roof on the pop top? lookin better as you go,
It’s got a bit of trim that screws to the roof trapping it then a bead of sealer round the edge.
Nice van Rich, whats happened to the army truck project?
It’s on hold until I have a usable camper
Is there a reason why all of the pop tops, open towards the front of the vans? I would of though that if travelling at speed, it could rip up? Never see them pop up at the back.Great vid! Vans looks awesome!👍🏼
Because the tallest point is where you get in. The lowest point is where you sit or lay
@@Bugoutvehiclesuk well that makes Perfect sense 🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
❤
Where did you get the van the 4x4 aren't easy to find. And it it a standard lift ?
EBay
No comment. Just helping with the algorithm.
Thank you.
How ever 🤣 it looks minted mate
😂
Why not feed the diesel heater into the main fuel tank won’t need an extra tank
Because red is half the price and I can see what I’m using.

It would be much better if you would include the price of the parts you buy
Then I would have ppl moan at me for the prices being different when they look for them 6 months later.
@Bugoutvehiclesuk fair play sir

What's the idear with throwing your arms around

@@Tinyoutdoors apparently I need to stand to attention while talking to camera. 😝
@@Bugoutvehiclesuk knife hands
So Mr Burns, what’s the idea with throwing negative comments around ?
why don't you use the vans fuel tank.tap into it, no messing about filling up and stinking up the interior when you have a whoopsie,
Because I can always see how much I have. How much I’m using and I can use red that’s half the price.
Looking good.
Thanks 👍
