    1001 camper versions on thé web, and I’ve seen many of them. The key is to watch as many of them yourself so you can plan your layout and get the best out of the space. Good luck with it, it ain’t no Land River 😂😂

    Would a transit AWD have been a better choice? Merc spare and servicing are pricey.

    Nice one Rich. I have the T1N 4x4 MWB high roof with separate shower and toilet, as you say, essential. Kitchen half in the door and full size double bed but down the van not across which turns into two bench seats with table, we can seat 6 at a push. We love it and it has got us to some fantastic camp spots over the years. Look forward to watching the build.

    Looks and sounds great. Have a look at Muddy Campers. They convert sprinter vans. Use flair sides and hydraulic double beds that lift up to the roof leaving a dining area below.

    Nice Rich I think it’s a good move, as lovely as the land Rovers are off-road, the 80% of time when you are on the road, this will be an absolute dream compared to the Landy and far more reliable! 👍

    Were those fuel economy stats based on fully laden? Small engines are great when you aren’t heavy but are much more susceptible to heavy loads. I had my HGV swapped for a supposedly more fuel efficient smaller engined version because it was cheaper and that’s all fleet managers care about, but my fuel usage went through the roof because my regular run was always fully laden and the smaller more fuel efficient engine just couldn’t cope with the weight. Ultimately it probably won’t affect you that much and I’m in no way trying to say you bought the wrong engine, but it may be worth keeping an eye on your weight as you build the van.

    I think the vans thar come gtom.the factory with the 4x4 button plus the low range but .... when specified with oem low range its quite likely your hold a slightly larger range fuilt tank that a standard sprinter of a sprinter with just 4x4. Useful to know of your planing on installing la fuel tank protection plates.

    Recently done exactly the same, love my land rover camping but the idea of more comfortable long trips has seen me buy a lwb vivaro, not 4x4 obviously but I'm not using it for that. Just started sound deadening an insulation.

  • @SiCrewe
    @SiCrewe ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting choice.
    You're probably going to miss the Landy's off-road ability 5% of the time but the Merc's going to be much better the other 95% of the time.
    And, it also means you could - if you wanted to - buy a small(er) 4x4 and kit it out as an overnighter without having vehicles that fulfill similar roles.

    I'm writing this not knowing if it's possible but it would be epic. Have you seen the seats on trains in Sydney? they convert between forward facing and rear facing (there's a video on youtube) you could keep the bench seat in the front if you converted it so you'd have a "sofa" in the front when camping. you'd have to have a safety lock for driving i would think but how unique would that be?

    Hi I’m looking at both 4wd and 2wd versions of this. Haven’t purchased my van yet… You mention briefly about the engine size and fuel efficiency. Did you buy a 314 or 2 something? I’ve heard 3 might be better but keen to know what you have and if you know if there is much of a difference Thanks

    • @Bugoutvehiclesuk
      @Bugoutvehiclesuk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got a 316 906.
      It’s a 2.1 bi turbo. I went for that because it’s pre ad blue and better on fuel. There is a newer 3Ltr but I didn’t fancy that because it’s harder to work on and uses more fuel but I’m sure there are lots of up sides to it.

  • @civiprepper
    @civiprepper ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's what I drive. My take is this. You lose about the top 5-10% in off road capability. In exchange you get something that much more reliable and truly a great drive. It's also trade tested and commercially used and designed to carry a much higher load than a 4x4. so great parts availability and millions of drivers hitting 300-400k miles in these when maintained.
    Great to hear your ideas for a new project. Can't wait to see it.
