  • Russian passenger airline Ural Airlines crashes--for the second time in a few years--into a Siberian field. The Airbus A320 ran out of fuel in one instance, and ingested multiple birds in another (reminiscent of the "miracle on the Hudson"). Are Russian airlines safe?

though unconfirmed, I think various networks and unofficial media have independently enough drawn a coherent and workable picture of the events of the 2nd crash...
basically, the pilots were refused a Mayday landing at Omsk by the controller, and re-directed to the alternate (Novosibirsk?)... whether this was done to keep the plane out of his patch (thus not allowing the stain of an overshoot to be on the airport) or for other rumored reasons (such as that it was done not to close the airport blocking the imminent arrival of an important local official), the controller could not refuse landing or force a Pan-Pan pilot to accept a diversion legally, but the pilots did not challenge the unprompted command, nor expressedly declare a full emergency which would have given them priority.
it is rumored both the controller and pilot were more comfortable with an off-field landing than with whatever disciplinary actions a challenge to the tower (for the crew), or (for the controller) having an on-field incident, might cause.
though this is all hearsay and not proven.

Have you shut down the YT channel? It's been about 6 months since your last video (this one) and was just wondering if you've moved off the platform entirely or if you've just been busy with other things. As a writer myself, I really enjoy the quality of both your analysis and the script. I'm not a "noir" kind of guy, but you make it fun -- without ever disrespecting the victims of crashes or making light of the seriousness of aviation safety. Thank you.

Thanks for that. I took some time off and did a type rating in the 737 that burned a couple months early this year. I’m working on a couple of accidents right now, so hopefully within a month or so I’ll have some new stuff.

This channel seems fairly new, but I like your analysis from a few videos I have watched. I have some hours, but never got to the solo stage. I will hang around until you piss me off. It's funny how good stuff just seems to pop up in your feed to make you curious to check it out. The first vid I saw was the unfortunate guy who had the Cirrus where the controller didn't seem to give a shit he was in either a runaway trim/or in a PIO in a crowded pattern. Why don't these people pull the 'chute?

Not the first time an FS "Incident" has set up a trauma which, when repeated in real life, reveals itself as an IAS fugue.

Interesting about Sully's failures but they also forgot to hit the "ditch switch" upon landing which could have been a simple misunderstanding [poet who didn't know it/I know it and knew it before].
Kuul channel and glad I've stumbled across it
