Thank you so much. I am the chair of our local Floral Design Group in St Johns Newfoundland. We have not been able to conduct our monthly meetings in person for a year now. I have been sending monthly emails with demonstrations from our members and guests. I also recommend online videos for our members to watch. This month I will be choosing your two videos on elements and principles. Very educational and the designs are gorgeous. Thank you to Leanne and the Floral Design Institute foe these free you tube videos

That's an excellent summary of this informative Live, Nurjehan! It is all of those things and more, and it really does explain the elements and principles of floral design well. Thank you for stopping by to say hello and watch the show. We hope you are having a delightful week and we wish you the very best in all that you do!
Thank you for always providing such great insight and information. Free to anyone! I follow all your tulip Tuesday videos. I am 40 years old and I felt I was too old to start a new career. But hearing the age diversity of new students in your classes really helped me make the decision. I was also not wanting to just do weddings, I like the idea of having more freedom within the industry and I’m learning the possibilities are endless. Can’t wait to get started.
Hi Krista - Thanks for your comment and kind words. Let us reassure you that you are never too old to work with flowers. Many of our students choose to do this later in life after they have had other careers, and it brings them great joy and pleasure. And there are many opportunities in the floral industry so you can choose the area in which you want to focus. If you are interested in our courses, both on-line and in-person, here is the link to them: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/classes.html And if you have any questions, just give us a call and we can chat with you about your options - 1-503-223-8089. Wishing you all the best and have fun with flowers!

We do our best to share all kinds of floral design with you so you feel inspired to create something beautiful. We hope to see you as often as possible and we hope all is well in your corner of the world!
I'm finding that floral design classes online are very expensive, so to see something this educational for free is appreciated. I especially like how you designed the foam container display. It appeals to my modern contemporary taste. I'm going to use eco-friendly fiber foams for my designs but otherwise the principles and elements as you clearly described and illustrated, are to be remembered as these applied practices are essential for success. Thank you!🌿
Hello Lisa and welcome to Flower School Live! We are so delighted that you found our channel and hope that you will join us whenever you can. I went to school for fashion and ended up in floral. The design principles are the same but I do like working with bright dyed flowers. They are appealing to the younger generation...so fresh and unexpected.
You are absolutely right, Elizabeth! The design principles are the same in many ways, but the materials are different.
And thank you for watching our show. We love having you for floral education and we hope you will join us again soon. Our classes are in English, but we hope the demonstrations that Leanne and the other teachers do will help you learn more. Hopefully you will join us again when you have the time. Nos vemos pronto!
We are so happy to hear this, Bdusty! You are starting in the best possible place with your floral education. The elements and principles of floral design are fundamental to success. Color theory is another good place to explore and we have several excellent shows that address this topic including: th-cam.com/video/DSP0vqQ9N40/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/B1xq57md1Ro/w-d-xo.html. Thank you so much for joining us today and we hope to see you again very soon. Wishing you the very best in all that you do!
Hello Tami! That's a great question and perhaps you are asking about doing a bud vase with a single flower or a single bloom (flower) with foliage that is wrapped in paper or plastic like a bouquet. Either one is a beautiful choice and usually an affordable one as well. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch our show and learn more about floral design elements and principles. We hope you will visit us again soon and we look forward to seeing you then. Best wishes to you and please have a wonderful weekend!
That's marvelous, D, and what a busy Valentine's Day you had! 350 is a lot of designs to make, and so glad to hear that it was successful. Hello Charlotte, and thank you for reaching out to us with those excellent questions. Welcome to the Flower School channel! Our program is focused on designing with fresh flowers. Students can use silk flowers once in a while in their projects, and the concepts we teach can be transferred to silks and dried flower floral design as well. The project submissions do need to be created predominantly with fresh flowers, and we look forward to seeing how you would incorporate silk flowers with fresh products. If you would like to talk with us about your interests, we would love to chat with you. Please feel free to give us a call at 1-503-223-8089, and we'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. You can also e-mail us at rose@floraldesigninstitute.com if that's more convenient for you. We appreciate your interest in our program, and we look forward to speaking with you soon. Sending you best wishes, and please have a lovely holiday week! P.S. You don't have to know all of the names of the flowers as we'll help you learn them. We also have a great resource here with the Floral Design Institute Flower Library: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/blogs/resources-flower-library All the best to you!
That's lovely news, Camille! Welcome and we are so glad to have you join us for fabulous floral design. Perhaps we will see you tomorrow for Flower School Live at 3:00 pm PDT? In the meantime, enjoy your time working with flowers!

Also we broadcast both here on TH-cam and on Facebook Live as well so members can watch on either platform, whatever is best for them. Guessing that if it is 3:00 pm here, it would 6 pm or later in Newfoundland? Either way we look forward to seeing you all! P.S. We are on every Wednesday so if it doesn't work out for all of you this week, another Wednesday is possible as well.

Hello Deborah and welcome to Flower School Live! We are so delighted that you found our channel and we hope you will join us often. Our show airs on Wednesdays at 3:00 pm PST (our school is located in Portland, Oregon) and if you join us then, you can ask questions of Leanne and the teachers while they design. You might also enjoy our resource page which is filled with information about floral design: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/resources.html You will also find more information about our classes there.
Thank you for teaching us! My question is this… I am somewhat an artist, and a crafter and about to turn 70! I need to get a job and have an interview in our small town( the best floral shop around) I’m teaching myself as much as I can on TH-cam. Do you think I am to old? I never thought I was, but what do you think? I appreciate that you don’t look 16 . Lol ??
Hello Jana and welcome to Flower School Live! You are never too old to start a career in flowers, and that is so exciting that you have an interview with your local florist. Your background in the arts will serve you well as you create your new career in floral design. We hope it all goes well and using our shows to help you learn is an excellent way to develop and grow your design skills. We have a number of resources on our website too and those might interest you as well. You can find them here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/ Thank you very much for dropping by and for watching our show. Please let us know if we can be of assistance in any way and best wishes for your interview and beyond. Please take care and have a marvelous weekend!
Hi June! If you go to Flower School Live and the front page of our channel, it should show up in the left hand corner near the area where the videos are displayed. Sometimes you have to refresh the page a couple of times for the live broadcast to show up, but the video will say LIVE on it and it should say, "Floral Design Elements and Principles Part 2" as well. Once on, we can send you a link, but it should just appear on the Flower School channel and you can click on it to watch. It's probably a good idea to be logged in to TH-cam if you want to comment or ask questions during the show. We'll be on throughout the broadcast and can check the comments to see if you need any help. We really do look forward to having you join us today and hope that you will enjoy the show!
If you are not a florist but wants to order flowers then what should you do ?We don’t have too many choices where I live so please suggest something .Thx
Great question Narinder! We have a couple of resources that we work with: fiftyflowers.com, and fabulousflorals.com. Thank you for watching, we hope to see you next week for Live at 3pm Pacific Time.
Yes, you should be able to order from them, Narinder. Just give them a call or check the websites to see what their process is. Thanks so much for your interest, and best wishes with your orders!
Towards the end of the video, when Leanne started using the calla lilies, she kind of bent all of them to the side and ran her hand down the stem before she cut. Is this some kind of trick to get them into a better shape? Was there a reason?
That's a good question, Morgan. Yes, she was manipulating them to shape them for her design. Callas are receptive to this treatment, and will work well with it. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching the show and hope to see you next week for Flower School Live!
Hi Leonny! Thank you very much for stopping by and watching our show. We want to answer your question in the best way possible, but we may need a little more information to do that. If you are using a round container and your design is going to be viewed from all sides, then the form of the design is probably round as well. Does that help? If not, please let us know and we'll respond to the extra information you provide. Hope all is well in Sydney and you are enjoying the beautiful summer flowers there right now. Wishing you all the best, and hope you have a lovely week!
@@FlowerSchool thank you sooo much for your response’s I will try my best to And let you know the outcome come Which also I will search from your TH-cam perhaps in the passed times
You are most welcome, Leonny! Are you looking for round designs as examples perhaps? We do have a few and can point you to some of the videos if needed. Please let us know and we'll try to help!
For example, here a couple of videos that might help. The first one includes fruit as well as flowers, but it gives you an idea perhaps: th-cam.com/video/oGHiu1GTEbs/w-d-xo.html The next one is a bit larger but it may give you an idea of how to do this: th-cam.com/video/8dsLCowwEM4/w-d-xo.html

Sometimes people decide to mix and match their courses. They might take Basic Floral Design on-line and then come to Portland for a week to take Advanced Floral Design in-person (or vice versa). Or they might choose to do the entire program on-line. Either way we would love to have you study with us, and we'll be glad to help you plan your program. Here is our website so you can learn more about the courses themselves: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/pages/classes Please feel free to reach out to our office at 1-503-223-8089 or e-mail rose@floraldesigninstitute.com if you have questions or want to chat with us. We look forward to hearing from you and wish you all the best! P.S. We also a wide range of playlists here on our TH-cam channel that you can access if you are looking for different types of floral design. You can find them here: www.youtube.com/@FlowerSchool/playlists
Hello Najwa! We are so glad to see you again and we hope you enjoyed the show on elements and principles. It's a great way to be introduced to what essentially forms the foundation for floral design. Thank you so much for joining us and we hope you will join us again soon, perhaps at Flower School Live on Wednesday. Wishing you a lovely and peaceful week!
This is my first time to tune in. I am starting my floral career journey tomorrow. I have never had any formal training but will be working in the floral department. Little nervous. Do you have any books or videos that might help me along. Great channel.
Hello Jodi and welcome to Flower School Live! Congratulations on your new position in the floral department too. It's a wonderful opportunity and you will learn so much along the way. We are here to help, and we have a wonderful resource library that you can find here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/resources.html You might also enjoy the many videos on our channel including those on color theory and the Tulip Tuesday tips. Just use the search engine (magnifying glass on the right side of our channel's page) to find them. Our introductory course, Basic Floral Design, is also a great place to get started and you can find it here along with our other courses: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/classes.html Other resources such as books and tools are found here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/shop/ If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to give us a call at 503-223-8089 or send us an e-mail at rose@floraldesigninstitute.com. We hope you will enjoy your new position and we look forward to being your partner in this wonderful new floral journey. Wishing you all the best and please take care!
Hi, Leanne! Using this quarantine as a chance to learn from your free classes. What would you say is the difference between Harmony and Unity as principles in design. Much love from the Philippines!
This is an excellent question, Karina! It is possible to have unity (a common goal) without harmony (blending to please the eye) although for a design to work, it should have both. Hope this helps, and thank you for watching our shows! If you are interested in taking classes with us, we would love to have you join our on-line program: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/distance-learning.html Wishing you all the best, and have fun with flowers!
Wow, that's brilliant news, Maria! Congratulations on your tremendous success for 2021, and we hope that 2022 is equally prosperous for you. Thank you very much for watching our shows, and we hope they inspire you as you create your own beautiful and unique floral designs to share with others. Sending you best wishes for the holidays and the New Year, and please take care!
That's an excellent question, Rainbow Kitty! The first place to start is through floral education and that's something we can help with at Floral Design Institute. Our teachers are talented and experienced floral designers who know what is on trend and much needed in the world of flowers. Talking with floral professionals in your area is another way to gather information. What are florists in India creating? What are the popular holidays that include flowers? Building your knowledge and skills will help you move into the world of floral design. We have students from all over the world in our on-line courses and they really appreciate the support and feedback that our teachers provide. You can find our on-line courses here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/classes.html We also have a lot of videos on our channel that you can watch to help you get started, and a wonderful resource library on our website as well: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/resources.html Thank you so much for watching our show and we hope to see you very soon. Wishing you a peaceful and happy New Year and please join us often in 2021. P.S. Let us know if we can help in any way. We are here to support you through your floral journey!
Perfect! We look forward to greeting you all during the show. And please do let us know if there is anything we can do to help you during this time when you cannot meet in person. Thanks so much and have a lovely day, June!
Wanted to share one additional resource with you, June, for your group to use. It is the Floral Design Institute Flower School Video Library: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/flowerschool-videolibrary. Many of the videos are the same as those on our TH-cam channel, but they come with transcripts which help you follow the presentation. We hope this will help your members and again we are so glad you could join us today for Flower School Live. Wishing you a peaceful weekend!
Liatris is one of our favorites too, Brent, as it really defines the line in an arrangement! Thanks so much for watching our show on the elements and principles of floral design, and we hope that you will be with us again soon for more fabulous floral design with Leanne. Wishing you a lovely week!
Some people like Baby's Breath a lot, Mele! Others are not fans of it. Personally we love gypsophila and have been fascinated by the color enhanced versions that have been appearing at the wholesale market. It tends to go in and out of style, but it is one of those timeless materials that all floral designers use at some point in their careers. Thank you for stopping by to watch Live and learn more about the elements and principles of floral design. We hope that you will visit us again soon, and we wish you a superb week in the meantime!
Are you logged into your YourTube account? And have you liked our channel? That should make it possible for your to comment. So glad you made it! Will let your members know.
That's very exciting, Jan! Good luck and best wishes to you in your new position. We hope your orientation goes well tomorrow, and just remember to relax and breathe so you can learn as much as possible. Do take snacks and water with you as well as comfortable closed-toe shoes. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn on the job as floral counters in grocery stores provide a wide variety of services for their customers. Your colleagues will help you learn, and we are here as well to help and inspire you when you need it. Take it a day at a time and enjoy it as much as possible. Our playlists are also a great source for ideas and and motivation, and you can find them here: th-cam.com/users/FlowerSchoolplaylists Wishing you all the best, and please let us know if we can help in any way!
Marvelous - 7:30 pm it is! We really look forward to seeing you and your members tomorrow (Wednesday) at Flower School Live, June. It will be wonderful to have you with us and we hope you all enjoy it!
Hello June! Just wanted to make sure you had links to both platforms for today's show. On TH-cam, the live broadcast usually appears towards the top of the channel page on the left hand side and the link for it is: th-cam.com/users/FlowerSchool On Facebook the link for the Floral Design Institute page is here: facebook.com/FloralDesignInstitute/ One does not need to have a Facebook account to watch the Live broadcast as it is open to all. We look to seeing you and your members today and we hope you have a lovely day!

Hello June and welcome to Flower School Live! Thank you very much for reaching out to us about your floral design group in St. Johns Newfoundland. We are honored that you will be using some of our videos to support your meetings and we are happy to help you select them if you need assistance. Our shows on the elements and principles of design are excellent choices as you mentioned. We have created some new playlists that you could share with your members as well and you can find them here: th-cam.com/users/FlowerSchoolplaylists We would also love to invite your group to one of our Flower School Live shows on Wednesdays at 3:00 pm Pacific Time. P.S. Our playlists are organized thematically - for example, Spring Design Inspiration or Wedding Floral Design or Tulip Tuesday Tips - depending on what you are looking for and we release new ones all the time. Your members might also enjoy our resource library as well: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/resources.html All the best to you!
Outstanding arrangements and colour combinations- very well explained that one can understand it so well.

There are people who create floral fashion too and that is a lovely and creative aspect of floral design. Your bright dyed flowers sounds fabulous, and it would be fun to see what you create with them. Thank you very much for watching our show, and we hope that we'll see you again soon. Please take care and have fun with flowers whenever you can!

And thank you for watching our show. We love having you for floral education and we hope you will join us again soon. Our classes are in English, but we hope the demonstrations that Leanne and the other teachers do will help you learn more. Hopefully you will join us again when you have the time. Nos vemos pronto!
Love this serie so much ! Im realy into floral arrangment yet dont know how to start
What do it mean to do a single bloom with greenery?
Best wishes to you and please have a wonderful weekend!
fulfilled 350 in east texas. Now planning out Mother's day.....usually bigger than valentine for us......
That's marvelous, D, and what a busy Valentine's Day you had! 350 is a lot of designs to make, and so glad to hear that it was successful. Mother's Day will be here before you know it so planning for it now is a great idea. Thank you for watching our show today and hope to see you next week for Flower School Live!
lovely
The designs are lovely indeed, Maria! We are so happy you enjoyed them and hope that you will join us again soon for more Flower School Live. Our Live show airs at 3:00 pm Pacific Time if you ever want to join us. You can ask questions of Leanne and the teachers while they design. Hope your week is stellar in every way possible and please take care!
Thankyou
You are most welcome, Linda! We are so happy to have you join us for the elements and principles of floral design and hope that you enjoyed our show. It's wonderful to see you here and we look forward to hosting you again soon. Wishing you a peaceful week and sending you best wishes for it all!
Do you teach silk design and witch is harder and do you need to know the names of your flowers?❤
Another new viewer from Toronto, Canada. Just subscribed to your channel. Am hooked.
That's lovely news, Camille! Welcome and we are so glad to have you join us for fabulous floral design. Perhaps we will see you tomorrow for Flower School Live at 3:00 pm PDT? In the meantime, enjoy your time working with flowers!
CARMEN
This is my second time to watch your video, I know you are a great designer. 🤗🌹🌹🌹
That's wonderful news, Fan Brenda! We are so happy that you are taking time to watch our shows, especially this one on the Elements and Principles. We hope you will be with us often this year as we introduce new trends in floral design. Thank you very much for your presence on our channel and we look forward to seeing you again. Have a peaceful weekend!
I have emailed the group with the information and I am hoping to join in live this week with perhaps a few others from our group. Thank you
That's wonderful news, June! We would love to have you join us and hope that some of the members will be there as well. What is the full name of your group so we can say hello to all of you? Also we broadcast both here on TH-cam and on Facebook Live as well so members can watch on either platform, whatever is best for them. Guessing that if it is 3:00 pm here, it would 6 pm or later in Newfoundland? Either way we look forward to seeing you all! P.S. We are on every Wednesday so if it doesn't work out for all of you this week, another Wednesday is possible as well.
Good evening, I've been watching for awhile and really enjoyed floral design. Thinking about floral design school. I live in Springfield, Mo. My name is Deborah Richardson
At some point we would love to have you as a student and would be happy to chat with you about our courses. You can always phone us at 503-223-8089 or send an e-mail to rose@floraldesigninstitute.com. Thank you so much for watching our show, and we look forward to seeing you soon. Please have a lovely New Year and may it be one filled with flowers! P.S.
Do we just search flower school live and that will allow us to join ?
Here is the link to the Live today, June: th-cam.com/video/vxWtNU19cDo/w-d-xo.html Hope you find it!
Did you find us, June? We hope you did! Two of your members are on with us.
Thank you so very much !!!So if I’m not a wholesaler even then Can I order from them?
Beautiful!
Thank you for your kind words, Linda, and for watching our show! Hope we see you again next Wednesday for Flower School Live!
How is the best terminology by using a round low ?
bowl containers
my name Leonny from Sydney Australia
@@FlowerSchool thank you sooo much for your response’s
I will try my best to
And let you know the outcome come
Which also I will search from your TH-cam perhaps in the passed times
You are most welcome, Leonny! Are you looking for round designs as examples perhaps? We do have a few and can point you to some of the videos if needed. Please let us know and we'll try to help!
For example, here a couple of videos that might help. The first one includes fruit as well as flowers, but it gives you an idea perhaps: th-cam.com/video/oGHiu1GTEbs/w-d-xo.html The next one is a bit larger but it may give you an idea of how to do this: th-cam.com/video/8dsLCowwEM4/w-d-xo.html
Am a new born in learning floral arrangements
Welcome to the world of floral design, Stacy! This is an excellent place to begin and we hope you find it interesting and fun. Please use our channel as a resource and let us know if you are looking for anything in particular. We have a wealth of playlists that are organized thematically by different aspects of floral design that may be of interest to you. You can find them here: www.youtube.com/@FlowerSchool/playlists Thank you very much for spending some time with us and we hope you will visit us again soon. Best wishes to you and hope you have a lovely week working with flowers!
How do I sign up for flower school?
Hello Saundra and thank you for your question! We offer both on-line and in-person courses for Basic and Advanced Floral Design. Our on-line courses can be done from anywhere you have an internet connection whereas our in-person courses are offered at our school in Portland, Oregon.
Hi I'm from Canada
Love you love them love me love...thanks for this
76 valents orders
Thank you Lourdes!
Great job Lourdes!
Hi I had

Wow, that's brilliant news, Maria! Congratulations on your tremendous success for 2021, and we hope that 2022 is equally prosperous for you. Thank you very much for watching our shows, and we hope they inspire you as you create your own beautiful and unique floral designs to share with others. Sending you best wishes for the holidays and the New Year, and please take care!
We love the Silicon Valley, Maria, and are so glad that you can provide them with your gorgeous and special floral arrangements!
Hey everyone 🌷🌷🌷
So happy to have you join us today!
I want to become a florist designer but I hv 0 experiance...how will I get all the knowledge n experience. Thank u from India
The name is Newfoundland Horticultural Society Floral Design Group
LOVE LIATRIS
Liatris is one of our favorites too, Brent, as it really defines the line in an arrangement! Thanks so much for watching our show on the elements and principles of floral design, and we hope that you will be with us again soon for more fabulous floral design with Leanne. Wishing you a lovely week!
@@FlowerSchool its my most favorite flower to work with!! I have been teased about why I really liked that flower.
My daughter don't like gypsophila because of the smell😂 but i love the gypsophila ❤
Hi Leanne 🌿🌷🌸
Hi Matrix!
I’m on live but can’t comment on live stream
Are you logged into your YourTube account? And have you liked our channel? That should make it possible for your to comment. So glad you made it! Will let your members know.
So glad you and your members were able to join us today, June! Thanks for being here with us for Flower School Live!
Help…… I have orientation tomorrow to work in a florist at a grocery
I believe it’s 730 Nl time
Marvelous - 7:30 pm it is!

Arizona is a lovely place, Cindy, and we are so glad you joined us from there! Thanks so much for watching the elements and principles of floral design and we hope to see you very soon for more marvelous floral design with Leanne. Wishing you a delightful week with lots of flowers!
