- In today's video, I completely renovate this lawn. It goes from looking acceptable to absolutely awful, but the work will pay off in about a month!
If your lawn is out of hand, put the hard graft in now for better results moving forward.

Your neighbours must love you!
Excellent job, I'm going to be doing this on my daughters back lawn soon as it's really bad with thatch/moss.
I'm currently looking at the different compost spreaders, but it looks like the Landzie is favorite.
Thoroughly enjoy your videos, very easy to follow with no faffing about, here's hoping for a decent summer, goodness knows we're due one.
Best wishes from Northern Ireland 👍
Good job. Will look good in a few weeks. 👍🏽
Nicely done and explained.
Look forward to seeing the improvement is a month or so.
Like the previous comment has said, you should have taken those dead shrubs out and a dug a circle round the birdbath, make it a feature.
It would help drainage and they could either plant it up or put a mulch/decorative stone chip on.
good effort lad
Take out those dead box hedge plants, they are just in the way. Level up and build it up to the same height.😊
It’s a good shout! Not my lawn unfortunately, but it’s something I’ll be suggesting.
Nice one mate, the weather isn't playing very nice here down south lol, still waiting to renovate
I was hoping to get seed down this weekend on the front lawn, but got a lot of wind. Whips up badly from the field in front.
@@NoviceGardener yh the weather is being very strange of lately,at least the temperature is decent but fingers cross get some sunshine soon 👌
I would have asked if you could move the green stonehenge to a corner, make life much easier for mowing, great job
Green Stonehenge 🤣
Looking forward to the end results.
Using the compost spreader how many square metres would a 50L compost bag cover?
Couldn’t say exactly. But the lawn in this video is roughly 100, maybe a tad less. And I used 5 bags in total.
What’s with the bushes around the bird bath?
I assume you do your neighbours lawn in return for content? Nice idea. We have so many birds around us but never had an issue with them eating the seed...until a fat wood pigeon arrived and cleared the entire garden in one day. My dogs performance was disaapointing
Yep, win win for us both 👍🏻
We have so many pigeons that eat the seeds! I do try to unleash my dog put he’s rather sniff the plants!
Another great video. Can you link the compost spreader please and how comes you don't use fhe hayter hawk anymore?
I’ve been using it on my front lawn. Only been using the Bosch on the grass verge and this lawn as there’s sometimes unexpected bark that crops up!
Oh ok. Iv just ordered a hayter hawk 43 for £350 got them to price match it for me. But it's been 2 weeks since ordering it because they lost it at first
@markeverett2010 nightmare, but great news about the price match - it’s worth every penny!
How do you stop birds eating the seed great video keep them coming
The top dressing usually does the trick for the most part. Or you can put a kind of scarecrow up (just a plastic bag on a stick), but some birds take no notice regardless 😅
Are you doing customers lawns now aswell as your own...love your content👍
Nice one 👍🏻
Just the neighbours for now. It’s keeping me very busy which I’m glad about!
Good instructional video.
What setting did you have the Scotts spreader?
What compost did you use and was there much rubbish in it?
I had it on 18. With the seed being fairly big and now spherical, you’re best going with a higher setting because if the holes are too small on the spreader, it can get blocked easily.
@@NoviceGardener Thanks for the info. What compost did you use and was there much rubbish in it?
Would love to know what compost you used as well
Is there any reason you didn't roll the lawn after seedling, to get good connection between the soil and seed
I’ve never used one when seeding. Once it rains, the top dressing and the loose soil below make decent contact 👍🏻
I’m about to do this to my lawn, I’m going to go for a A1 lawn seed, are there any you recormend?
Depends on what you want. Make sure that you check the grass types for each one before you buy so that you know if you’re getting bent, fescue, the or a mix
No starter fert?
And ever thought of using a pre emergent ?
I have used it in the past, but haven’t for around 12 months now.
When using the topsoil spreader how much coverage are you getting out of one bag of soil? I am thinking of getting a spreader, but I only have about 30m2 to cover and not sure how much soil I will need to top dress my seed.
You’d probably get away with 3 bags of top dressing with that size. My back lawn is slightly bigger and I used to use 3 bags to cover about 45sqm.
@@NoviceGardener 3 bags of topsoil went down today using the Landzie spreader. Perfect amount. Thanks for your help.
What lawn top dressing did you use?
Clover compost
What scarifier are you using pls.
The Ferrex scarifier. You used to be able to pick it up for about £70 from Aldi, but not sure if you can anymore.
Was that the deepest setting?
It says -5 or -8 on the scarified from what I can remember. Not sure exactly how deep it is though - but it’s harsh!
@@NoviceGardener good stuff
Did you have it on the -5 setting pal or the max setting? I have the same machine
