The long awaited tutorial. This is kinda like doing 3 trailers at once, plus a script, plus a voice-over, plus dumb jokes for some reason. It cost me a lot more time than I anticipated. Part 2's coming in 2 days! Hyper Mystic Sonic(HMS) will come after that.

This is NUTS! I can't believe just how much crazy stuff can be pulled off! Here I am thinking I'm pretty good at SMS and then I see all of his untapped potential! This is CRAZY!

But holy hot damn, the fact that you need to make two parts to explain SMS' move set is eye-widening. i genuinely want to try out this mod now just due to the sheer amount of moves there are.

I hope there is a map that's directly for SMS's speed and abilities. He is insanely fast and it would be fun to mess around with that speed.
There's plenty of huge maps. Die.pk3 is an obvious one to practice in. www.dropbox.com/s/9mqo2hrv5dftjpu/die.pk3?dl=1 But Cyberdime, heroes, 2006, etc all have spaces to run wild in.
Of course, the idea's that you try to use SMS' speed everywhere. I was hoping people would see the things SMS can do in the tutorial video and not assume you need a massive open space for him to work.

It's SMS sliding across walls when running really fast. It's current implementation is a bit hacky, but it'll get better one day.

Quick question: What custom button mappings would you recommend for this character?
I use Right Shift for Custom 1, Left Shift for Custom 2, X for Custom 3. But I do use an unusual control scheme.
i just got done with this first part of the tutorial.. despite SMS seemingly being one of the most overpowered characters ever, he requires alot of skill that i do not have, even if i practice... this'll be interesting... onto part 2 i guess
SRB2 in general is hard to learn, but it'll become second nature given enough time. SMS is like that but multiplied.
Any of y'all remember Senku, Senya and Nitemare? What about Crawlie the Crawla, Clawer, Jetter the Jetty-syn, Bizz, Cara and Pawn-010 "Hunter"? Shit, and that town map where people loved loading in a bunch of bots and running around. I forgot the name of that thing. There was also a cool hotel match map. I miss these final demo mods! Thanks for bringing SMS through to the present.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, no, yes, no, no, and no! (Oh god, it's like I'm writing Samus' save system all over) You're probably thinking SA-city from SRB2 JTE. I forget the name of the match hotel, but I know exactly what you mean. It's probably included in one of the OLDCs!

What song plays during Sonic’s speed shoes?
If you made a mod of the version of Sonic that shows up after sms dies, would he just be adventure sonic?

It's "SuperSonic Speed" by Die Happy, the nightcore remix, edited further to fit within the speed shoes time limit.
And yes, he'd be Adventure Sonic. Except we get an even better dedicated Adventure Sonic soon enough by Metalwario64.
A question that has nothing to do with SMS. I keep trying to load die.pk3, but it's always starting me in GFZ. Do I need to do something different or am I just dumb?
It doesn't replace GFZ1. Enter it through the level select, or a console command like `map die`.

I know, this video is a year old, but can you give us an option so all versions of sonic DON'T turn into super mystic? instead it's just the skin? i just want to play with multiple sonics but with super mystic around then all of them can go super which makes it more confusing

I wish there were some sort of "Mystic Sonic" mod, so you have a version of Sonic specifically made to transform with the SMS mod. He wouldn't be as powerful, of course, but I think it would still be neat.
there's adventure sonic by him now, which I think is basically the same one used for the special stage untransformed sms

I managed to understand how the 1.09.5 thok combo works, Jump Bind > Hold Spin Bind > Press Jump Bind > Repeat Until No Targets
This is wonderful, and I'm sure over a small bit of time I'll know how to use this, however-
I have no clue how to get the mod to work. I'm new to SRB2, and idk how to properly put the files into the right spots since this is unlike trying to get 3d Junio Sonic to work. Could I please get some help with this?
Just activate the mod and play as the character, if there are still some problems re-install the mod.

Not a priority at the moment, but maybe after I get Samus done I'll do something like that if the creator really doesn't want to make a proper port. That'll be a while down the line, though!

Hey, I'm having a bit of trouble with using the blind dash while already in a dash, explained at 2:35 . Can someone help me out, if it's not too much trouble? I only seem to be getting it some of the time, and even then, I can't do it in a specific direction.

Are you using controller or automatic controls? If so than use joytokey and bind s to back on the stick or use manual/strafe settings.

I noticed a save config button at 5:10 but I can't seem to find it on my menu. Please can you let me know if there's a newer version or something?

GoldenShine You can kinda beat some of them with modern sonic as well.
GemerlYT I did use modern sonic on sea gate but it's was hard getting through the tails section and after that you cannot beat the level without using noclip

What i need to press to activate the ringburst?
Have 10+ rings, then just hold back& and jump while "boosting". Alternatively, double-tap custom 1 while boosting.

I found that sms can break mine carts spinning
Yep! That's covered in Miscellaneous next video alongside the rest of the minecart actions too.
The way I found this was by playing a level mod that is 98% mine cart sections
there is one problem i have it wont let me homing attack unless i hold spin is that how it is supposed to work?
Yes. You hold spin to do multi-homing thoks and also walljump, or don't hold it for a speed thok.

Not unless you:
A: Know what you're doing.
or B: Are prepared for it to backfire.
SMS can keep cranking up the risk-reward factor of his playstyle to ridiculous levels. I'd try and master his abilities one by one until you can see the big picture and recognize a level's possibilities at a whim, then take full advantage of them all. (Though runshoes are probably unmaster-able.)

where did you get that srb2 heroes port? and 06 port?
Cassie ported Heroes. I quickly ported 06 myself to show it off for the video. Both are a little buggy, especially the Heroes pack, which has pain plants and can't be beaten by anyone but SMS atm.

What buttons do you recommend on keyboard for Custom1, Custom2, and Custom3?
I need help deciding so I could use SMS's controls(like sprinting or haymaker) and do stuff like entering the speed break state more easily.
That...really depends on where you have movement keys and if you use mouse too.
I use both WASD and the arrow keys together, so my Custom1 on is on Right-Shift, Custom2 is on Left Shift, and Custom 3 is X.

Try aaaall the buttons! Fire, Normalfire, Weapon Previous, Weapon Next, Toss Flag, everything does something! But so long as you are HMS, you'll win no matter what!

How do I use it?
Like you use any other addon? Use the addons menu.
Unless you meant to ask where's the map? It's mapH0. Simply typing "map die" in the console will get you there too.
It also shows up in the level select, both the single player and multiplayer version.

Is there any models for sms?
Superphanto's SMS Shuffle model, someone's old-ass Wizard SMS from 1.09.4 was recently ported, Manuel's custom SMS model, and LonelyFoxz chibi-esque SMS model.
There's also a joke one floating around somewhere, I don't know where to look for that one.

No. The Chaos Emeralds don't matter. You always have the Mystic Emerald. You'll just need 30 rings for SMS, then 50 more rings for HMS.
