Just mowed 2 lawns, didn’t stop the engine once, and still about a half tank left. This makes the machine that much more usable. Next up heavy duty pulleys so I never ever have to deal with the pulleys.
@@1975oldschool That's great! Yes, I haven't put the new pulleys on yet, kind of have them sitting as insurance for now. I also bought new m5 screws with nylon inserts for the recoil assembly because one original nut got lost. So from now on I'm only getting flange nuts with nylon inserts to make sure nothing vibrates itself loose.
@@jasm.5823 ...As you may had seen on Garage Gear YT Comments,...I just got my Timemaster last Friday (April 2nd),...and I've already done your mod of Turning the Pull-Cord assembly!
Hey, just a tip... You can mount that hour meter on the black plate at the front left of the engine. I used some HVAC self tapping screws. Worked like a charm. Even some automotive grade double-sided sticky tape will work.
Original plan was to be able to use a single large tank and keep it simple. Good idea, may look at that in the spring. It’s a bit tight for space though so it may not have enough room. I wonder if there is a wye or tee fitting that could also work.
I think you did a good job! I just bought one new 3 days ago (Aug of 24) I would like to find a little smaller tank. I ran out of gas, and had 15'X130 LEFT. DISAPPOINTED.
Thank you for this. I'm on 0.65 acres of weeds. I feel like I'm constantly refueling on the original tank. I probably empty the bag about 15 times - makes me want to poison the entire yard and seed dwarf fescue. My yard is poorly graded too - bump city - aftermarket wheels with better tread would be helpful too.
I don’t bag anymore, and that’s saved a ton of time and hassle. I try to mow at least once every week, and let the grass grow a little longer to crowd out the weeds. I think I have it set to “C” height right now. If you have a lot of bumps have you considered adding soil and using a wide leveling rake to work out the level? With a larger yard it will take some time but can be done. This is what I did at my parents house and also at my house.
I like the tank mount but I'm not sure why you want to change pull cord direction instead of just bringing it up to the handle bar as designed, unless you bag a lot.
Very cool! I found that the big tank is all I need so I never bothered with the smaller one. Added a fuel shut-off and took the filter off for now. It’s a tight fit to have both so gotta figure out the tubing. Good luck!
I only tried the side because of the oem toro mounting bracket. If mounting behind the engine you could and angled bracket bolted off the deck, and then check for clearance. The handle mechanism may get in the way. Sorry I can’t help more.
1 acre = no way. With the factory tank I could barely cover 1/3 of an acre. With the new tank I would say a little less than 1 full acre, or .68 of 1 acre.
This is mis information I just got one for 1600 is used it on over an acre only filled it 2 times and still had enough gas t it to do a normal yard there is no possible way to run out of gas on a residential house with this mower if your doing commercial and over an acre then ya maybe add a gas tank or maybe drop a tank in the area your most likely to run out. I don't think modify this is the way to go
What part of not having to stop to refill don’t you understand? Also how is this misinformation if I’m purely showing how to add a 1 gallon tank? Take your nonsense somewhere else.
I have a pretty small lawn and I can't mow the whole lawn without refilling. I have to mow the back yard first so that when it runs out of gas I won't be far from my garage where I keep the gas.
@PendeltonWhiskey something maybe be wrong or your grass may be extra tall but I can say this after returning a mower like 5 times to the home depot I got it from I noticed that some of them are faster then others and some gas tank last longer it makes no sense there's definitely something off either the settings on these things
I pieced it together mostly from eBay stores. I figured I would upgrade the Timemaster with the tank and heavy-duty pulleys to get it closer to the Turfmaster, without spending another 1000. So the tank parts and the pulleys add about 200-300 depending on what you can get. I’d been planning this for a while so I definitely put some cash aside to add the parts. I plan to add the pulleys in March and will post up a video. These are solid pulleys too and should last a LOT longer than what this comes with. Check out ebay seller mowandsnow, I bought the tank and bracket there.
The extra weight of the gas will really keep this dog of a lawnmower from going up inclines. Worse transmissions in mowers, save your money and get something else!
Gas is approximately 7 lb per gallon. If you’re not using the original tank also you are adding maybe 3 lb in capacity. I get more than 3 lbs of clippings built up under the deck.
Just offering advice here, but you could also edit the videos to remove unnecessary commentary. For example, no need to say "removing the bolts will be the next clip" or whatever is coming up. People on this channel will know that it will be necessary to remove bolts when removing a cover. Again, I'm only using this as an example.

My stock pulley's broke 16 hour into it's life, so I upgraded to the turfmaster pulley's as well a month or so ago. No issues so far.

Makes the machine unstable??? I think that you seriously overestimated the weight he added.
Excellent idea of rotating the Pull-Cord carrier.
Thanks, I also replaced the nuts with nylon lock nuts since these like to work themselves loose. (Replacing with lock nuts wherever I can).

Thanks man! This is a huge help.
Can't they just make a tank that screws and connects tightly into the existing gas port and maybe put a couple latches to firmly secure it in place?

Great tip, thanks!
Why not install a petcock so you can utilize both tanks? Then, treat the small tank like a reserve.

very nice

How come you didn't use a Y-connector and use both tanks at the same time?
At the time I didn’t think to, after I looked again it’s a very short tube. So I’m just using the big tank and don’t need the smaller tank at all.
Have you had any issues with the gas line being the same level/height as the carburetor?
No issues, there is a very slight downward slope. It would work even if a bit inverted.
I like the tank mount but I'm not sure why you want to change pull cord direction instead of just bringing it up to the handle bar as designed, unless you bag a lot.
It’s easier to pull to the side and away from the handle frame this way. I don’t bag at all, bags are brand new.
so im doing this but im using a ptfe y fitting and using the factory tank as well for even more

Part number for the Y fitting?
Did you got part number of the tank and the bracket ?
All parts are in the video notes. You will also need the gas cap.
Any way to mount in back? If so do you lose _all_ adjustability of the handle?
I only tried the side because of the oem toro mounting bracket.
If mounting behind the engine you could and angled bracket bolted off the deck, and then check for clearance. The handle mechanism may get in the way. Sorry I can’t help more.
How large property can you mow with the factory gas tank? 1 acre or no?
1 acre = no way. With the factory tank I could barely cover 1/3 of an acre. With the new tank I would say a little less than 1 full acre, or .68 of 1 acre.
Jas M. Ugggh that’s so disappointing. How does this save any time if you have to re-fuel?
@Josh B the sponge in the gas tank doesn't help either. I have a typical suburban lot about 1/2 acre and the original tank barely makes it
@@mct8888 i don't have to refuel at all with the new tank - that's the point you can do a whole lot more. In any event it is still worth it.
