Joetta Sharrard died in 2014 of complications from swine flu. Ben Sharrard still lives in Grants Pass and works for a furniture company. In another sad update the boys' father, Chuck Sharrard, passed away on March 25, 2022 of pneumonia and other ailments.
That happened to my older brother. His arm went through the window in the back door and he bled a lot. It was so scary. He can move his arm, but sometimes it cramps up and hurts him more than his uninjured hand does.

I remember this show, I turn 42 this year & this episode in particular I’ll never forget, when I was 9 an old globe heavy light fell on me almost cutting my hand off. It was hanging from bone on outside of right hand. So this episode hit me more than rest.
When my hand went through the glass of the door at my friend's house, I thought of this episode. Luckily for me, it wasn't bad enough to need medical attention. I felt really stupid, though, because I was 17.
Same but nothing but scrapes. I went still and carefully pulled my arm out. Plus it was plastic and not glass but boy did this episode come in my head lol
Wait until he is alot older. I had a injury similar to what happened to the boy, had surgery when i was around 7 years old. I Recovered back then was able to do everything normally. Now im 37 and have lost a bit of strength in my arms. Talked to bunch of doctors about it and had bunch of tests with conclusion that The accident I had when i was 7 is 90% most likely the cause of bit of strength lost and with age possible that would loose more of the strength as time goes on.
As a responsible parent or guardian, don't leave your younger children left home alone unsupervised and those boys need to be careful while playing outside near windows, door windows, and glass or ended up just like what the hell happened to Benjamin
It seems like the dispatcher just assumed it was a slight cut instead of a gushing artery, like she should've. Then, her comment about feeling frustrated after the call pissed me off further. I hope she got a different profession. It's dispatchers like her that allow people to die because they don't think it's an actual emergency, so they don't prioritize it.
Today marks 28 years since this happened so Ben is 35 and Michael is 39 almost 40. Glass is dangerous. It can cut you and you could bleed to death. I bet Ben has scars on both arms. They may be visible but I'm sure no one notices them. When I saw Ben fall through the window and all that blood, I was terrified. It looked like gore. This happened on a Friday. Friday the 13th that is. Michael was thinking “Oh no, what have I done?! This is all my fault.” Joetta died of the swine flu in 2014.

When you put your hand or arm through glass, stay where you are at, do not pull yourself out through the broken glass, you can make it a million times worse,do NOT EVER pull yourself back through glass !!!! You can bleed to death, there's veins in your wrists tbat if sliced, you can die within minutes.
Joetta is in Heaven waiting 4 us. In 2014 God wanted Joetta 2 go 2 Heaven. So God took Joetta 2 Heaven. She's pain free, sorrow free, suffering free and she's all better and all new. "See U again someday when God calls us 2 go 2 Heaven".

Remember that this was a different time. Kids were left at home all the time. It was socially acceptable at the time. Everyone did it.

I was 12 left alone around this time it was normal. It was like an hour and we had the phone numbers and told not to leave the house.

Two lessons were learned. Never leave your children unattended at any time and learn about safety involving glass.
