Good evening Joe ! Very well made and real fun to watch video !!! Your grapel is built strong like a army tank but your design is closer of an aircraft engineering concept !!! Hi Joe! It took a lot of patience to experiment and get the cylinder stroke range to match the range of motion you want on the grapple. Well done to you and Dave! Using your Jib crane as a camera boom was brilliant! Looking forward to Part 3!
Good evening Sir, Joe is really behind the creation of that grapple marvel !!! I'm just there to have fun !!! and I really do !!! LOL Cheers and thank you for the kind comments Sir !!!
Hey Joe, looks like you and Dave made a lot of progress. I like that idea for the camera mount at the end. I am planning something similar for my workshop too. Only not as heavy duty as the jib-crane. My camera only weighs a pound or two.😀
I was thinking the same about the weight of the camera. But if you want to have some stable moves, it might be interesting to have it sturdy, so it does not endlessly swing up and down. Thanks Corey!

Hi Joe, Great design! Looks like you Tee'd off of the curl cylinder circuit to operate the grapple. So, they will both move dependent upon the reaction force strength. If that causes any problems in the future a diverter valve placed within hands reach could work great. I used one on my backhoe thumb control and found it was a great addition. Always enjoy your videos!
Very professional method you're using Joe...That will be very strong fingers....with the one cylinder in the middle stroke....you did very good on the welding...lot`s of work in that....liked the blooper part too....CHEERS
@@FromSteelToWood I know on the farm the articulation to the top arm is a lot closer than you have it from the pivot point and it`s strong enough it bend the top of the bucket a bit....maybe abused a bit by the father in law...the grappel and the bucket made be Horst and built strong....not criticizing....just thinking you`ll have lot`s of straight....the good hydraulic guys can calculate that....my older brother could do the calculation but poor guy is dead and no more calculation.....CHEERS

Many more projects to come! I wish I can try the grapple next Saturday. I've got a nice iron supply near to where I live. When the steel looks like brand new, then there is something wrong with it... Sometime, it's the longitudinal weld that is not good, on some parts. Sometime, it's a join right in the middle of the section. Sometime the profile is not exactly the right shape. Otherwise, I have some painted, galvanized and/or rusted stuff. Thanks Wendell!
Looking good👍 I have found on my grapple that the jagged teeth come in handy when I have multiple logs in the jaws there is less chance of them falling out something think about. Can’t wait to see this thing in action
That's handy, we can copy your design lol. We have been thinking of doing something similar as they take up lots of space and very difficult to move and store
