I love this stitch! My mother is the one that got me into crocheting, so she is helping me crochet my own wedding dress. I'd love to make a floor length skirt with something like this. love love love
Thank you so much for all your videos. You have pushed me experiment with making clothes because you demystified sizing. Please don't stop making videos!
tahnk you for the beautiful and encouraging words , I'm so glad I can help you with my tutorials, I will keep on doing , because I love sharing my projects with other crochet lovers, Oana
I've gotta say, you've got some of the neatest designs. Its really hard to pick which one to work on next. Thank you and I am always looking forward to your new patterns and designs.
Thank you Oana, you are just absolutely marvellous!! Am trying to do a dress for the first communion of my daughter, it's in 2 years but am researching anyway!! I am doing this cascade stitch for her skirt for sure!! The top will be a simple single crochet bodice!! Will post pics when I finish!! Thanks again n God bless for being such a lovely teacher!!
Thank you very much for the wonderful tutorial. It's very clearly explained and can understand very easily. I planning to make a bag. Hope it will workout. Thank you once again for this video
Your careful and repeated directions made it possible for me to make 3 skirts for my family's little girls. If I forgot something, I came back to your video. Thank you so much for your very good and thorough instruction.
I subscribed to your channel awhile back and I love your videos! I taught myself how to crochet just over a year ago and typically make crochet clothing for myself and my daughter. I have been trying to learn how to create my own designs since I can't always find what I want in a pattern. I bookmarked this video last year and am now starting to create a skirt with this stitch. I am using a fine weight yarn in black with a 2.75mm hook, 180 stitches to start,, hdc for the waistband and then starting the cascade stitch at the hip so that it layers and drapes nicely. So far so good. If it comes out nicely I will send you a pic. Thanks so much for all the great videos and I can't wait to see what you post next!
+Kimberly Williams Hi Kimberly , thank you for subscrinbing to my channel , I so happy I can give you isnpiration with my tutorials and I will love to see the pic of your finished skirt , till then happy crocheting! Oana
Hello sweet Ms Oana. Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials they are so full of information if people would only take the time to listen and learn. I was wondering if this stitch/pattern can be made into an afghan? If so can you please do a tutorial on how it's done. Tysn and have a blessed day.
Thank you so much for teaching so well..! Pls let me know how to increase the stitches for every row of fan stitch as I dont want the skirt to be in tube/rectangle shape rather I want the skirt to look like umbrella shape... pls reply..!
Thank you so much for this stitch I love it. I made a skirt using this stitch. I realize that the stitch is done in rounds, but was wondering if it possible to make a jacket in this stitch, since it wouldn't be done in round? Thank you for your help.
Hi Christina , I think you can do a capelet , working the yoke with a hdc increasing 8 times randomly every round and from the shoulders begin with the cascade stitch , just be sure in the last roud of the hdc you have the multiple for the cascade stitch , Oan a
Do you have written patterns for your tutorials? I really enjoy your teachings. I find I learn best through reading a pattern while watching. Thank you so much for taking your time to teach me.
Hi Oana! Thank you for this video tutorial! A quick question.. how do you increase the cascade stitch to make a A line skirt (like for the baby dress so it is not like a rectangle/tube, thank you in advance!
this is realy beautifull stitch, how can i make a straight rectangular shawl or scarf with is pattern because i cannot figure out how will i adjust half of the cascade motif at the beginning and end of row.
Can i make an afghan with this stitch how would i do that straight back and forth its such a pretty stitch thanks for your patience and time i enjoy watching your tutorial even enjoy the background sound ;)
Ranoosh1971 . I have to try it first, there are some thnigs to change of course, I will try to make a tutorial of it, I hope I succeed but I don't want to promisse, Oana
too bumpy for an afghan, I think, but the fan stitch would make a fabulous edging. I would use it for that, and I have done similar large fan stitches for throws and baby blanket edgings. I have seen some beautiful large fan stitches on some bolero sweaters I have bought--just for the stitching!
do you have a written pattern for this stitch? my memory fades somewhat and by the time you have done a few stitches I forgot what the beginning ones were for the next round. a written pattern would help me out there! Thank you, Nancy
Does anyone know where I can get the exact pattern for the skirt pictured on Pinterest that leads you to the video. I love watching your videos Oana - you do beautiful work.
I bought the book Leisure arts encyclopedia of Dishcloths. I want to make this projects but I don't understand their instructions. The cascade stitch in the book is different of what are you showing.
hi oana, I just want to ask after the 75chains, how many rounds of sc do you make to come up with the border before starting the rounds for cascade stitch? thank u....
I. Laughing because someone claimed you were shouting.....Italians all shout I know I am one....anyway people don't know about VOLUME Control....hey so good idea about the skirt. But if you were making a bag how do you close the bottom it's not even....
Hey Oana :) My english is not so good I don't understand how mony chains i must make at the beginning??? You say 15 for one group but why than 57 chains ????
you stated you are using an 4.5 mm hook, in US we dont have that hook its either an 4.25 which is G.. or an 5mm which is a H /hook. Please let me know I am beginning to start a skirt for my daughter. thank you Jan Smith
I just watched on line on a convresion of crochet hook sizes because Ididn't belive in US there is no 4,5mm hook witch is a very use crochet hook size, so there is, its' n° 7 crochet hook, I let you the link below so you can watch for yourself , anyway you can use the 4,25 mm hook , happy crocheting, Oana www.yarnfwd.com/crochetconv.html
yes I am using the 4.25 hook thank you for your reply,, I am so loving this pattern.. making skirt for my daughter using bernat crochet thread size 5, using 2 strands at the same time... then going to make her the matching bag you have also for her.. love your videos and patterns.. keep them coming. I have made several of your projectsl
True, but the multiple is 15 regardless. The multiple is the total number of stitches that one repeat uses. If you did this in multiples of 3 you would cut off 1 to 2/3rds of the pattern motif.
Lovely stitch, which I will try, but the fan clicking in the background is distracting, and I find that you seem to shout quite a lot, Other than that, I'm looking forward to trying it out. Please carry on with the tutorials, as I find them inspiring. Thank You.
just keep on watching over and over. I am very experienced and it moves slow for me and I was skipping the slower parts. I think this would be challenging for a beginner, not impossible, but challenging
Karen, you can always "cheat" like I do ;) Watch a bit to get an idea of how the pattern goes...then rewind, play until you need to stop (to catch up lol) hit pause...then go again :) I find if I watch a long patch of the vid first, then go back to the beginning it helps a LOT :) Hope that helps you too :)
You can also adjust the speed... I often watch once in regular speed to listen to the instruction and then slow the play speed to 1.5 ( or slower) and work along. It makes her sound funny because it is slowed down but at least I can follow.
I love this stitch! My mother is the one that got me into crocheting, so she is helping me crochet my own wedding dress. I'd love to make a floor length skirt with something like this. love love love

do you have a written pattern for this stitch? my memory fades somewhat and by the time you have done a few stitches I forgot what the beginning ones were for the next round. a written pattern would help me out there! Thank you, Nancy
Just finished watching your tutorial and I LOVED it! Would love to make it as a skirt for church. What are the multiples of the starting chain?
She said that starting chain is multiple of 15.
Is there a pattern for a skirt cause I love this pattern
I too am interested in knowing how to do this stitch for a shawl. The multiple is 15 but what would be the plus?
lovely project
Can that particular stitch be used for a blanket or something other than clothes?
Does anyone know where I can get the exact pattern for the skirt pictured on Pinterest that leads you to the video. I love watching your videos Oana - you do beautiful work.
Do have this pattern written out anywhere?
I bought the book Leisure arts encyclopedia of Dishcloths. I want to make this projects but I don't understand their instructions. The cascade stitch in the book is different of what are you showing.

how to make tropical delight afghan square?

I think this pattern is in multiples of three because you are always working in the third stitch
True, but the multiple is 15 regardless. The multiple is the total number of stitches that one repeat uses. If you did this in multiples of 3 you would cut off 1 to 2/3rds of the pattern motif.
Kimberly Williams thanks Kimberly, I just realised niw
Nagyon jó és érthető a videó, de a gyakran megjelenő reklámok nagyon idegesítőek.

Beautiful, even with stopping and starting you are far to quick for me, maybe because I am a beginner
just keep on watching over and over. I am very experienced and it moves slow for me and I was skipping the slower parts.
I think this would be challenging for a beginner, not impossible, but challenging

The play back speed adjustment is in the top right corner... the three dots. Drop down menu and change the play back speed to what ever you need
