TCS New York City Marathon - 50th Running

- Here's the entire NYC Marathon in about an hour.
OK - it took me nearly six hours, but I FINISHED!
Not bad for a legally blind/visually impaired runner.
It also took two year's of training because of the Pandemic just to get to the Start Line.
2021 marked the 50th Running of the TCS New York City Marathon ~ after a year long delay due to Covid19.
The field was much smaller than normal .. at about 25,000 runners.
We finished with the likes of Shalane Flanagan, Willie Geist, Chelsea Clinton, Tiki Barber, Marcus Mumford and Christy Turlington (burns) ... just to name a few famous friends. LOL They all finished way ahead of my 5 hour and 52 minute finish... after a dozen bathroom stops , multiple leg cramp episodes and lots of walking. You can see it all for yourself.
This race lived up to the hype with all of the energy and emotion along the streets of New York City. The 26.2 mile course reaches into all five boroughs.
I used Garmin data and Google Earth Studio to create the 3d borough intro maps.
For this video: I used, both, the Insta360 ONe X2 and the GoPro Hero 10 Blck.

Man. You did an awesome job with this editing. It might be your better one yet. It feels so different when you don't run with millions of people around you. My video is totally different.
The freaking bridge destroyed me too! I didn't have to stop to stretch but it was so tough. and then 4th Avenue I definitely went out too fast. I am really sorry you were cramping... the hills are not tremendously steep but given how fast and furious they come, they add up!

And yes the parka is amazing. NYC is the king of all marathons. There is nothing like it. I'd love to do it again.
Tears welled up in my eyes as you all approached the finish line. My friend and I just mentioned this morning how much we love your videos, so this was such an amazing treat to see this evening! Congratulations-what an epic race and memory! And it made my heart so happy to see people from RunDisney cheering for you. Magical miles, even in the Big Apple.
I cried when you guys crossed the finished line. I've crossed that line myself and watch your video made me feel like I was running along side you guys! I'm so happy you and Karen had a greet experience ❤️ NYC Marathon is incredible.

I literally cried tears of joy when you and Karen crossed the finish line! Although I’m a Floridian now, I was born and raised in NYC - and I hope my hometown treated you well. As someone who will be pushing a wheelchair (my daughter-we met you once) I love how you go out of your way to say encouraging things to those wheeling or being wheeled. Because of you my daughter and I will do our 2nd Disney Half marathon this November! So happy for you!!!!
Katherine ~ I have struggled with my "challenge" for nearly two decades ... so I appreciate what your daughter, you and those like me overcome to do things most people take for granted. I do remember you. Please keep an eye out for me again Marathon Weekend ... I'll be doing Dopey. I would love to say "Hi" to your daughter again. :) train hard ... Its not easy doing for someone else... it's why I love Karen so much. See you there.

Hey it’s Amy from Strava 😊 this was so awesome to watch! Karen did an amazing job keeping both of you safe, and you did great with the marathon mental game. This January will be my first marathon at Disney and I always wondered if I would ever be able to run somewhere other than there but it seems like there was quite a bit of activity throughout most of the course to keep you motivated. Such a great video! I had no idea how tight some of the course became...good to know if I ever reach my goal of running it. It sounds like Karen did an awesome job guiding you too. YEs. Not able to stay on property this time ... just couldn't get a room. Thankfully, I 'm not too far away and will be driven in each morning . see you there.

@@jerseyjoe5050 It's probably not going to happen in November. Not staying on property makes it a logistical prob for me. I will be out there both mornings and at Epcot ... at least on Saturday for the day.
@@RezRuns I'm park hopping to Epcot at 2pm Saturday. I hope to run into you at the park or in the corrals, haven't gotten to say hi to you since Dopey 2020. I tried to find you at NYC, but that waiting area was just way too big.
