Everyone respects serena is a top class professional even if she couldn’t compete at the mens levels it should be the same with football.

      The advancement came about in 1993 when The Football Association took over from The Women's Football Association (1969-93) who disbanded ... It was from that point onwards the progress came about. I would say, it was from around 2000 onwards that the wider public became aware of Female Football.

      There is no reason why best women players can not be on par with professional men on tactics and technical skill. On professional level the limiting factor is physical. Women can not be not strong and fast enough for high level of football. Most 17 year old football boys are so strong and fast that they can overpower pretty much any women team in the world even though the women would be more skillful.
      But that is the case only on team level. All women team will be under powered no matter what but there are still place for smaller and/or slower individuals if they have great skill. There would be some professional women players if there were no segregation on football. Not in champions league level but still on some professional level

    Great video but so devastating. If there was never a ban in 1920 and the women’s league kept evolving under FA, imagine how much bigger women’s football and women’s sports in general would be these days. There would be less naysayers underselling it’s quality. These footballers were suppressed by a bunch of patriarchal old men who couldn’t bare to see a women’s league popularity compete with the men’s. Even more depressing that it took THAT LONG to lift the ban. Society has come a long way since then but still has so far to go

    After all this, it's incredible to think we are one of the best international sides in the game - shame to see so many still rehashing the same arguments from the 20's which banned the game in the first place.
    Didn't know about the massive amounts of fundraising the early teams did too, imagine the type of people that are livid that a women's football team are helping those in need.

    On the 5th of December 1921, Arthur Fitzgerald Kinnaird the wicked President of the Football Association (FA) banned Women in Football because Arthur Fitzgerald Kinnaird the wicked President of the Football Association (FA) believes that Football damages Women's bodies, damages Women's health and very inappropriate sport for Women. Arthur Fitzgerald Kinnaird the wicked President of the Football Association (FA) hated Women in Football who also believes that a Woman's place is in the kitchen not the football field. so womens football wasn't banned. They were just banned from using the big football stadiums.

    • @deltaboy2011

      Yes and pretty much from publicity which means no fans and no ticket sales and no money revenue. Girls who loves football won’t play if they are not going to get paid and move on and not be a pro footballer. So for decades it’s stagnant where women don’t train or learn techniques from men side. Sure it will never match the mens side in terms of speed and physicality. But people love to watch womens sports like tennis or gymnastics or swimming, etc. cause they like to watch them. Same for football.

    • @mitchio86
      @mitchio86 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deltaboy2011 yes but my point was not to over-react. women could still play football and they could use other stadiums. Furthermore the english FA is not the only FA in great britain. I think the spectacle effect was wearing off. Ironically the only teams that where truly banned was the mens teams - during the war!

    • @deltaboy2011
      @deltaboy2011 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mitchio86 because women weren’t allow to fight in the war. And playing in small pitches with no fans was FAs attempt to destroy the competition that women side attract more than men side.

    • @mitchio86
      @mitchio86 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deltaboy2011 I don't think woman wanted to fight in the war, you make it sound like it was a holiday 😄. Like I say there where many stadiums they could have played in. Other sports exist. Most sports, including womens football, still get only small crowds so it is not unusual. No grand conspiracy required!

    • @deltaboy2011
      @deltaboy2011 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mitchio86 you be surprised, women have in the past disguise themselves to look like men to fight. Obviously doesn’t happen anymore since now women are allowed to be on the frontlines. All we know is that the FA banned women from playing under the guise that they can’t play because of too much competition of attracting fans from the mens side during the war and after.
