Wow, nice comeback! That's pretty smooth What Phoenix does when rendering MARIA dots, it has an option to account for CEL cycles, and it applies it's performance rules like it wasn't MARIA but solid. Switching off/on MARIA would be the same performance, while on real 3DO will be much faster.
Very impressive work. I'll have to pull out my Goldstar 3DO and test it out someday soon. I'd definitely be interested in learning more how this game works under the hood.
I just gave this a go on my FZ-1 with Fixel ODE. It's really smooth and fun to play. Love it! My FZ-1 is one of the really old JP models with the factory built-in 240p switch, and it looks stunning in 240p S-Video on a CRT. Thanks so much for making this! One request though, could you add auto-fire to button C? My thumb tires too quickly lol.
Wow, that's is indeed an amazing demo already. Those numbers popping up are too big. Maybe if you halve the number size down and then spread the dots out, it will create a nice effect. Any plans to add a background.
This is absolutely stunning! Incredible work! This actually looks like an official game that could've been released back in the day. The music and sound effects are wonderful. I've always wondered if the 3DO could run Jazz Jackrabbit, Captain Claw, or even Elderscrolls I: Arena.
Thanks! And yes, I'm sure the 3DO can. A game written specifically for 3DO has many advantages over titles which were source ported over and retro-fitted.
@@retroloveletter I'm very surprised it never got ports of all 3D build engine hits: Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, and Blood. I'm sure the 3DO could've benefitted from a 3D Build total conversion of Doom. Edit: Speaking of which, I wonder how the 3DO would've handled voxel objects seen in the 3D Build engine games.
This is actually badass, but definitely suggest moving the exploding points numbers away from the center playfield. Like maybe 1/10th the size attached to the "target" destroyed for about half as much time might be more appropriate. Still, smooth!
I'm working on making those effects translucent and blend with the current frame buffer underneath, so it's going to look better. Also, the emulator I used for this video doesn't support 3DO's MARIA feature, and so it looks a lot better on hardware, even currently. It's supposed to look like a bunch of dots. Glad you like it! Stay tuned.
Take a look at the original Tempest 2000. The numbers expand to fill the entire screen! If anything, this implementation doesn't have enough effects on screen!
I'm gonna try this on my 3do. Its hooked up to stream. Literally one of my favorite games.
You even have the jump XD atari Jaguar watch out!
Wow, nice comeback!

Interesting. I love the MARIA effect, especially on hardware.
This is gorgeous! #Congratulations
I can imagine it working with the mouse at an adjustable sensitivity,
That would be interesting!
I'm convinced. I just ordered a 3DO mouse to experiment with. Thanks for the suggestion!
Great work!

Awesome!
Loved it! Please do more!!!!!
It's so fast! amazing work:)

Looks awesome! keep going 👍
Hyped!

Thanks, I'll be adding some polish over the next few weeks.
This is cool!!!!

@@randybutternubs4647 Yeah, had a 3D engine been created for DOOM, specifically for the 3DO, that would have been nice, but no time.

Whoa
Awesome job. This looks great!!😳🤩
Good job. Are you planning to add weapon upgrades or super zapper?
Thanks, I need to refamiliarize myself on those mechanics! But there should be room for some enhancements.
Yowzers!
nice very nice

I guess the best way to find new art is to type in whatever it is you want and add a filter for Upload date.
