Why was this not taught to us pre 2018? Very very very different narrative then what they showed us in seminary and youth and YSA in the 80s, 90s, 2000s
Thank you for posting. Joseph Smith was vague about the translation process of the Book of Mormon (other than by the "gift and power of God"). Smith may have had something he created that resembled old plates (his father was a cooper and Smith would have had access to materials and tools). And he may have created something known as spectacles, or interpreters and no doubt had his hat and seer stone - but he did not translate anything. What his scribes wrote were nothing more than years of rehearsed stories from a vivid imagination and material from other books, in particular the 1769 King James Version of the Bible. We can know Smith copied text from the Bible due to the appearance of several translation errors within the Book of Mormon (a truly ancient document would not contain 17th century translation mistakes). David Whitmer and Martin Harris described a very literal, word-for-word translation process. The appearance of King James Bible translation errors suggest that their words concerning the translation process cannot be trusted. Are we to believe that the LORD presented incorrectly translated words to Smith? (note that FAIRMORMON has no problem with blaming the LORD, not Joseph Smith, for the presence of translation mistakes in the BOM). Are we to believe that even with translation devices and the "gift and power of God" that Smith still could not come up with the correct translation? Joseph Smith, Jr. was a dishonest man who devised a scheme to make money selling a book. His book didn't sell well, but it did lead to his advancement as a religious leader. He couldn't be trusted then, he can't be trusted now. Sorry folks, but Smith lied.
he uses his turd stone - the seer stone that failed to find treasure in his treasure hunting scams for which he was prosecuted and convicted. the stone was on the shape of a turd and was brown like a turd. thus the TURD STONE. he put it in the bottom of his top hat and it lit up lke a flouresscent sign and his fake scam is that he read the plates like that. so in the end moroni had put the plates there for thousands of years so-that joseph could read them - yet - he did not read them but instead used his turd stone to translate the plates. total scam
This video is in direct contrast with what Russel says happened in the translation. Joseph put his “magical“ “seer”(fraud) stone in a hate and claimed to read off of it, all comes razor, says that he simply put his script in the hat, and read his script, which nobody saw. His mom said that he told the stories when he was a teenager.
Nobody outside of your church makes any connection between the biblical urim& thumum and what your church claims about them. Even your own current prophet claims translation was through a scrying rock.
I searched about these seer stones in the Bible and lo they are mentioned in Bible. How did Joseph Smith come up with such an idea? Christendom is so ignorant of God’s ways.
@@germanslice it is quite possible that a black and white stone are easy mediums for the divine to communicate and thus accurate for old test and Joseph Smith
Except that the Word of God clearly says not to add anything or take anything away from scripture, or the curses herein will be added to them and the blessings will be taken away! Believe on the Lord 1:59 Jesus Christ, the only incarnation of the Living God, and repent from sin and false teachings.
@@richardholmes5676 the LDS good news includes eternal marriage sealing. Something not mentioned in the new Testament. I thank you for reenacting the reality.
It helped me a lot.

Wow! That’s really cool. 🤯🤠
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
Where is the video that ties to the recent podcast about repetitive resumption? Been waiting for that one!
Helpful! Thank you

The way you pronounce Urim and Thummim is so weird
Yeah very weird but that's how its pronounced!
what total bullshit.

The bible says that we do NOT need the Urim and Thummin in the days that we live now - Joseph Smith is a false prophet

Interesting thought! :)
That school of thought would have to include the Bible compilation as adding to the word of God.
