I'm not really a car guy, or into fixing things much.. But you have me sold with your channel my good man.. You got great conversation, and you make this inviting, informative and fun.. Hope I get to see GMC all fixed up, or running at least.. Best of luck
I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching your stuff. It's great to see a guy working on old used stuff that's not perfect....using tools and a shop that aren't perfect. It's the way most of us gearheads do things. Anyway....thanks for the videos, they're appreciated.
the editing you have done is great and the out takes you put in We all get a kick from it you have great content too is not some guy just smashing stuff you got the American wench hands and there great at it truly keep it coming and we all will keep watching thanks MrLuke23e
It's good to see you posting videos again. I understand, about having to get your farm work done, though. A forum that I belong to swears by it's own secret brew of penetrating oil. It's made from 50% trans fluid and 50% acetone.
Very much looking forward to part two. That sparkplug was impressive also.I've never seen such a buildup of crud.Botchuhlism affects so many vehicles across the world.Let's do our part now.Isn't your truck worth it?*pan to innocent truck that has been botched*.Don't let this happen to you.Donate today to the Movement to keep knuckleheads out of engine compartments.
I bought a 94 Fd off road trk in 2010 that was never maintaned the plugs looked like that too it would`nt do 25mph to the floor I did a service on it at 250.000 km done 5 oil changes in one month just to see the dipstick letters again ,Done a Injector cleanup on it when I got it the truck would use 1/2 tank in 30 miles -I`m still using it at 370.000 km 2yrs later it running good still one of the best trucks for off roading ,So you never know the motor could be a dandy yet .
ElderlyIron, your garage looks just like mine over in Days Creek. Mostly dirt floor, Ideal Arc A/C. air compressor, Oxy/Acetylene bottles. Sorta makes me homesick.
+ElderlyIron ... not so much for Days Creek ... as for the family. That's the last time we were a 'family'. Mom and two boys are buried in Heppner.. I'm all alone in the southwest desert.... now. I have 20+ projects in the yard and I don't have the strength, energy or interest to work on them.
+DesertRat1935 Wouldn't it be nice if all the good things and family would remain? That's what I imagine Heaven to be like. Southwest desert sounds like 20+ rust free projects! You can always list them on my site, www.elderlyiron.com Too bad you weren't closer. I'd come video them!
Try using a small diameter piece of clear vinyl tubing the next time you need to reach a hard to getvplug hole, just slip it over the tip of the bottle
You need to start using Champing plug, because nothing runs in a Pontiac better. A J-8 is a cold plug. use RJ-12. I'm 66 and have run and raced and worked for Pontiac dealers back in the old days. Just look at you tube and see some of my engines. 428 Pontiac test stand by steven Gooch. 496 BBC test stand-and 425 Buick test stand. And KB-12 international it's a red hot rod with Pontiac power.
you just need to advise everyone to get ad-aware plugin for their browser. then not only does it eliminate youtube ads , but gets rids of most of the annoying pop ups on the web
+NORMAN BROWN Pontiac used the same "size" block for the 35o on up. From 55 to 59, they were all the same block from the 287 to the 389, only changing the bore and stroke.
NORMAN BROWN I would class them as a medium block, the later 389 made till 66 or 67 in the old style LeMans/gto , after they discontinued it for some years , they resurrected it in the form of the 6.2 ltr. diesel , there was a lot of iron in those blocks.
Id like to know were you live. I'm in Tennessee and for my 40 years of mechanical work with all v8s I only run water and never had any problems.at all and that's about 1200 cars
I FORGOT WHY I STOPPED WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS. BUT AFTER HEARING THIS ONE ...I REMEMBER. THE MUSIC NOISE . CANT STAND IT. AS AM HARD O HEARING, THAT CRAP MAKES IT SHIT. ONLY HARD O HEARING CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I SAYING. BUT WE HATE BACK GROUND NOISE
i thought i would enjoy this but it is unwatchable the background music is in the uh, foreground - waaaayyyy too loud. i got tired of jackin' around with my volume control learn a bit about audio

my mom had a 70 chevy with a 400 gto motor after she went though the 3ed motor mount my grandpa chained the motor down!
I put a 389 in my 57 GMC back in the day. Out run just about everybody in the county. 3:90 gears and round track tires on the back.
Love it, keep up the great work.

The funniest part of this one is the dawgs chasing the Fed Ex truck...
I wish they still made water pumps like that!
ElderlyIron, your garage looks just like mine over in Days Creek. Mostly dirt floor, Ideal Arc A/C. air compressor, Oxy/Acetylene bottles. Sorta makes me homesick.
+DesertRat1935 Homesick for Days Creek?
+ElderlyIron ... not so much for Days Creek ... as for the family. That's the last time we were a 'family'. Mom and two boys are buried in Heppner..

I run Champions F14Y on my 292 Ford with great results. They are original equipment in fact.
When we do it, it's being resourceful and creative. If someone else does it though, then it's botched.
If not Champion plugs for a GM motor, what plugs would work better? I have a 1965 Buick Electra 225 with the 401 Nailhead 6.6L motor..
NGK
Water pump? Did you say Water Pump? Hey TONY!
Not quite. The footage is from Jan/Feb!
No one will ever be able to accuse you of being lazy. Not many would be out working in that rain. Looks like Muck Boots.
did the lights work when you tried them on jimmy blue
Bet they ran Pennzoil in it.
i love your music choice
So, when you're swapping water pumps and carbs, do you make your own gaskets?
Try using a small diameter piece of clear vinyl tubing the next time you need to reach a hard to getvplug hole, just slip it over the tip of the bottle
what plugs woud you put in to a gm 5.7L V8
One of the R44 or R45 series from ACDelco.
whats the song at 8:25
Is that a Carillon I can hear in the background at 9:52?
You need to start using Champing plug, because nothing runs in a Pontiac better. A J-8 is a cold plug. use RJ-12. I'm 66 and have run and raced and worked for Pontiac dealers back in the old days. When you pry it from my cold, dead fingers...
do you think champion spark plugs are not good in a gm 307?
David Correira on my 69 Chevy C10 307 I ran AC Delco R45TS on tapered seat heads, R45S on flat seat heads.
where did you get your catalogs from jeff
holy moly
Ac Delco plug! The best for GM.
I see you're wearing a coat Jeff, is it cold up there already? Here in Mi it was 104 3 days ago! I bet you're missing Ohio aren't ya.
you just need to advise everyone to get ad-aware plugin for their browser. then not only does it eliminate youtube ads , but gets rids of most of the annoying pop ups on the web
Whaddya mean? That's us!!
Is a Pontiac 389 a BIG Block or small block?
+NORMAN BROWN Pontiac used the same "size" block for the 35o on up. From 55 to 59, they were all the same block from the 287 to the 389, only changing the bore and stroke.
So are they all big or small blocks?

Becky Watt The 6.2 Diesel has nothing in common with a Pontiac, or any other gas GM V8 whatsoever.
Justin Stearns Have you ever had both engines apart side by side ???
So.....does that mean they're all small blocks?
they're "blocks" neither big or small
Still haven't gotten that far...
All that packing material and they didn't wrap the patch panel with it?
At 9:57 What song is that? Really nice guitar.
Id like to know were you live. I'm in Tennessee and for my 40 years of mechanical work with all v8s I only run water and never had any problems.at all and that's about 1200 cars
Sorry,Hydra-Matic trucks were Pontiac Powered; Not Buick...Sorry for the mistake
Robert Wenzell Not Pontiac!! GMC & Pontiac made similar engines, but not interchangeable!
You need some help.. I like fun work.
LOVE THE VIDZ,,TUNES ARE KOOL,,HOWEVER,,SOME HARD TO HEAR YOU OVER THE MUSIC,,JUST SAYIN.
Well 40 years and 1300 cats and trucks now say very different
damn thats an abused engine,,good to see it running tho :)
Ago to the salvage yard and get stock spark plug is our new Chevy engine they will last forever
Ahh, Gotcha. ;)~
mabe 389 tri power.
th-cam.com/video/ujI-5OlaLu8/w-d-xo.html
No dipstick? geez. lol
You can stick your gas contaminated oil in a pan and boil the gas out.
I think that ol' 56 is in need of an injected Vortec 454 !
AMEN! LOL!
Yeah. Standing under a loaded bucket. Big no no!
I will not use Champion plugs in a GM engine either they have to cold of fire !! Same with moto craft or auto lite!! GM needs AC/Delco
I do not like your sound. It’s low when you talk and way to loud when the music comes on. I have to continually turn it up and down. Love your show.
Music is way, way to loud! Who ever edited this video needs to find a new vocation. Great video though.
Live and learn

Champion isn't even good enough to run a lawn mower....
