  • "As Ukraine's allies, we should not ask when Ukraine will lose, but when Russia will lose," says American historian Timothy D. Snyder. In a debate with Sevgil Musaieva, editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, he mentions the importance of journalists in the war and also he talks about Russian propaganda. Sevgil Musaieva talks about the fight for Crimea, her own experiences and losses, and why we must not allow Russia to rewrite another country's borders.
All the outcomes of the conference Borders of (Un)Freedom will be published online on the Plus website.

I always learn a lot when listening to Timothy Snyder. He understands so much about the relationships between different countries, esp. Russia and the U.S.

Great T. Snyder. Journalists of “Ukrainian truth” must hear more of his advises and to implement these in their work. Thank to Czech people for support! 💙💛 Kharkiv, Ukraine🇺🇦

Wow! Great speakers ❤ thanks for sharing ❤ but this journalists questions are shoking and horrible sometimes.. "is Crimea ethnically Ukrainian?".. holy s..t. I'm so sorry for that.

What exactly is wrong about this question? The conflict over Crimea has been justified by demographics and ethnic reasons since 2014. Russian propaganda can only be defeated by the fight for the truth and the spreading of factual information by the heroes of Ukrainian journalism. I believe this was the message of the whole discussion. No questions are wrong in the war. There are only bad answers.

How's this for irony...I'm just now watching 3 Days of the Condor. It's an American spy movie, much like The Bourne Identity, but from the 1970s. I just watched Max Von Sydow's character (an assassin) explain that Robert Redford's character (a CIA employee/researcher, ignorant of field work) would be more difficult to eliminate because "He doesn't know what he is supposed to do," and so is unpredictable. He goes on to say that a seasoned "trade craftsman" was much easier to kill because "He knew what he was supposed to do, and was very predictable." Freedom does seem to entail living with the multitude of degrees of freedom of the real, actual world. It's not hard to understand the fear of conservatives in this light. It's not hard to understand their ratcheting toward authoritarianism in this light.

I like Timothy D. Snyder but I think that he is wrong about Trump. He likes to be underestimated by the opponent.
