Great video Buddy, Love Them All!!!!! But I want to thank your wife for the use of her kitchen to film in. Your videos send me back in time to "the good Ole days" when I was younger. COPD just don't let me race like I once did. You inspired me trough out last season to get back on the track. I ran "flatheads" at one of the local tracks. Slipped on them and grabbed 2nd in points, only got to run 5 of 6 races, but it felt good to compete again. Thanks Ben!!!!!

Good video, glad I watched it. One thing I wish you would have included in this are the ways some engine packages have been less used because of weigh rules being put in place on them, making them less attractive.

That could have been a great point.

Sounds like the track may be gripping up too much? Tracks cycles of grip are hard to get a bead on often times. This can be a chassis issue or a tire issue but it’s hard for me to diagnose from my phone. It may be worth trying to adjust either before a main and see if it helps. How current is your chassis? If it’s a newer kart try adding some cross to get off the RR so hard (opposite adjustment if kart is pre 05ish). This should help for the RR getting too much bite at the end of a run. At least worth a shot to see.

I come from a time when flathead limited mod, Briggs mod, and raised deck Honda's ruled the land. (2 strokes weren't very common back then)

Still down south with the exception of uas it’s mostly small block stuff, flattys and such. From what I’ve seen at least.

I know this is an older video but does anybody run big ci Honda industrial engines in this class? Just curious because I like tinkering with those engines...

I have seen them but not in a long time. Unless you’re on a short track it’s really hard to compete with the big MX 4 strokes and 2 strokes.

Hey Ben! I've been watching some of your videos recently as I'm interested in getting into karting. Do you have any part links I could check out? Thanks for your time. 🙂

Facebook marketplace is a great place for used karts and some parts but when I’m wanting new stuff JC Specialty is where I usually order from. shopping.jcspecialty.net/shopping/mobile/default.aspx

Ben, I am sure you have been racing long enough to know engines don't win races. I find handling and driving skills to the bulk of the work. I race KT's in open classes and don't do to bad, I do great when the track is at its worst. On a funny note, I have never been beat by a twin engine kart, They can't seem to keep everything together to finish. P.S. I went to the OVKA swap meet and was pleasantly surprised by all the KT stuff there. I love this cheap fun motor. I just wanted to ad that I will never spend big bucks on a lawnmower engine when I can buy KT's for less than half the price of a builder prepared clone.

Absolutely! Motor is only a portion of a winning kart. I wanted to go this year but had other stuff going on unfortunately.
