You just know Bei Bei had been bothering her to play for hours as she tried to eat or take a nap or do anything, so he needed some high-energy playtime.
Haha, oh yes. Although it has been many years I recall him being quite the handful. Mei Xiang was great though, she plays with him but never too rough and if he squeaks she goes easier. Certainly skills he would need if he was growing up in the wild 🙂
Haha, he was being a little stinker and bothering the heck out of her! There are a few other videos from that day (labeled with the date). Mei Xiang is an excellent mother though and she does a good job teaching him how to stand up for himself. In the wild (which a panda doesn't realize is different from a zoo) he would need to be able to fight other male panda's for access to females, so she's teaching him important things, and she's very good about it, never too rough.
