That was so good. I'm the same as you, I absolutely rinsed An Ocean Between Us, and then sort of fell off the As I Lay Dying train, and not sure why. I loved Frail Words Collaple and Shadows Are Security too, but they definitely sound amazing here again! Looking forward to more!

The drummer is holding his sticks in what is called the traditional grip, where the snare hand is inverted and the stick pivots between two fingers, rather than on the thumb. This grip is virtually never used outside of jazz nowadays, because the traditional grip is used for the light snare hits and the many ghost notes and accent rolls, as the drumming is very snare oriented. Compared to metal and rock, we don't use this grip because it's not solid enough to produce crisp and tight snare hits, and makes it much more difficult to play the toms and crash cymbals. This is one of the better songs by AILD. I didn't care for it initially but it has grown on me. I give it an 8/10. If it had a guitar solo it would be a 9/10. This song is going to sound bad live because the clean vocals are heavily layered and there is some unusually prominent use of pitch correction (auto tune), which concerns me for the live aspect. However, if they can pull this off live, I will consider them to be an elite band. I don't care if they use backing tracks, as long as it sounds good for the audience at the show.
