The French tech tree in War Thunder often sees rather harsh battle rating changes. The Char 25t light tank is the best example. It can now fight MBTs like the T-62, T-55, and Object 279 while not having any major advantage.

I found it hilarious how people were like, “Yeah that lineup is too strong at 7.7”
At what stage does it become player skill? Every French tank can easily be killed by competitors. The APHE autoloaders require flanking, unlike the obj at 8.0 that can frontally pen most stuff at the BR.
French vehicles were fine at 7.7.
You see War Thunder players don't know what skill is. Because Russian mains when your tank shell gets eaten on your chassis like in the first minute of the video. They'll just tell you that you're bad at the game.
Meanwhile they shoot someone and have the same situation and cry op.
As a soviet main french tanks are a blessing, sure their autoloaders are annoying but being able to one shot them with T-54 APHE is very satisfying, unlike most other tanks at the br which i have to struggle to pen them with HEAT which is annoying
"French 7.7 lineup is very strong" might as well be a display of survivorship bias. If anything, French 7.7 might as well be on par with British 7.7
Half the french tanks pop if you look at them funny, the mediums and light tanks have barely any armor and all ammo is either solid shot or apbc at that tier
Imagine having a heavy tank that has armor so bad it can be penned by an SPAA from the front (Surbaisse moment)
It's funny how as soon as you give a french tank APHE, it becomes so overpowered it has to face tank like 50 years ahead of it
BatChat was developed in 1954. it was one of the most modern tanks at 7.7. for example, the m48, centurion and Is4m were all rolling off the production line in 1945-47.
at 8.0 it is still far more modern than the t54 series, the t54-1 (in game listed as the t54 1947) completed its trials in 1945 and entered serial production in 1947 and 1949. the t55 was developed in 1953 and entered production in 1955 and it sits a 8.7 at the same BR as the TAM and other tanks from the 70/80s like the Cheiftain.

To be honest french apcbc is one of the best in the game, so having aphe instead is not that big of an upgrade except in certain situations

Meanwhile in the soviet tech tree: IS-7 at 8.3, T-55 AM-1 at 8.7, T-55 AMD-1 also at 8.7 with APS and Object 906 at 8.0 with a heat shell, a better APHE, the same 4 sec reload and ESS.
Isnt the 906 also fully stabilizer?

I still want to know what the EBR 1951 is at 5.3 when the nearest vehicle in capability is the AMX-13 FL11 at 4.0 and is about on par with the Chaffee in capability. The fucking PT-76 stayed at 5.3 with a massive reload buff and 200mm HEATFS round and cold war stabilizer. The EBR 1951 is at 5 point fucking 3 with the Sherman gun which is only marginally better than the Puma's gun and has faster turret traverse. How can they have such disparate BR's for vehicles with such similar capabilities. Even within the French tree itself as I said, the AMX-13 FL11 is not significantly worse than the EBR 1951, maybe by .3 at best and it's 1.3 higher... Gaijin sucks, I quit the game because they consistently make the worst decisions I've ever seen in my life.
@@adamg7984 Because the game caters to its worse and stupid playerbase (Usually those who play the Big 3. US,USSR,Germany) The EBR excels at flanking and most of these players have tunnel vision and only look foward.
Because of this usually good players decide to stick with france. And as result because only good players play France, gaijin sees the stats and could decide to raise the br.
The Char 25t is also victim of this. Another french vehicle that was at 7.3 and is now at 8.0. 8.0 is notorious for pretty much being only full uptiers, and the char 25t ends up being matched up against fully stabilized vehicles. While the char 25t has no stabilizers, no heat rounds, no sabot rounds. No laser range finder. In a full uptiers it has no chance.

Also spookston -> proceed to skew the statistics even more
stabilizers, thermals, composite armor, APFSDS, laser range finders, missiles vs, a 1950’s light tank with full calibre rounds. meanwhile gaijin said they would decompress this area because of the rapid increase in technology. and they did a little and then went right back to where we were before.
You see it already suffered at 7.3 and the ONLY reason it got moved to 7.7 is because they finally gave it the long deserved autoloader

It was actually already at 7.7. They gave it the proper autoloader reload time sometime after moving it to 7.7. Basically the situation was even more hilariously worse. Gaijin thought the Bat Chat with a 6.7 second reload was worthy is 7.7.
It is where it is because bads can't handle low armor tanks. It's the world of tanks my chieftain should bounce literally everything crowd.
@@BigGreyDonut Nah they gave it its reload as it moved to 7.7. That's also why I personally didn't mind that BR increase, it was given something in return and 7.7 doesn't constantly get into battles against 8.3+ USSR. This new BR increase is very different though, especially with France having a single other tech tree tank at that BR.

What’s even funnier is when you found out Gaijin put the less powerful engine used for early testing (500hp engine) in the bat-chat 25t instead of the engine the vehicle have in the last prototype (750hp engine)
Still cant believe that this thing is now as the same BR as the Obj 906, which is better in almost every way AND has a stabiliser. 10/10 balance.

That is a great comparison, because if you argue that this is 8.0 because of the great aphe shell you have to remember that the 906 has a better one

The Char 25T should also get access to the same 90mm HEATFS as the M47/ m48, type 61/ sta 3 and M36Bs. It already has the same ABPC and ABCPC as them.
I cant wait to be 8.7 minimum with this thing when it gets its heat rounds.

No they don't, those other tanks aphe is only 185 pen at 10m for their 90mm guns, the char 25t has a better aphe
@@karnithraxthedrgn710check the ammo description in game. the only reason the m82 shot out of the M3 90mm is lower pen than the m82 shot out of the french 90mm is the barrel length causing a higher muzzle velocity. 853m/s from the US 90mm vs 930m/s from the french 90mm

As a French player, we rush in because of the autoloader so we can brawl and flank, thats the only reason we do well. so every time we HAVE to flank like fighting t55s and and heavy tanks we somehow do well or just suffer

This thing and the RCV have a similar history regarding balancing. Originally 7.3 non-stabilized vehicle with no thermals or lrf and it keeps going up in BR all the way to 8.0/9.0. Frontal lethality is limited, requiring flanking and map knowledge to reliably do well. As the vehicle BR gets raised, less and less people play it leaving only the most confident players taking the vehicle out which continues to inflate player stats driving it up even more.

Love this man, watched a lot of his videos and they're great.
Whenever Spook plays anything that's supposed to be bad or over-tiered: Nobody sees him, or hears him. Everyone advances without a care in the world, pushes corners without checking. No one notices when teammates die right next to them. Every single tank, except those it's literally incapable of killing, immediately exposes their side, rear, or weak spot. Most long-range shots he takes hit not only dead on, but in a weak spot he wasn't even aiming for.
I'm so fucking tired of having the most ridiculously bad, borderline supernatural bad luck in War Thunder for fucking YEARS now, then I see people get battles like this, expecting to do badly, and ending up doing better than I can do in my best, luckiest battles. It's torture, and I just want it to end.
I mean, his goal is to create an entertaining video, mostly by cherrypicking matches and moments of particular value. So, others at their worst and him at his best.

50t90 is basically the same except its bigger and a little bit more mobile (char25t top speed being better isnt better overall mobility). But the worst part about this is that you almost everytime get uptiered to 9.0. Its still playable but you have to flank and camp a lot so its not as fun as it was before.
1:10 you aren't considering the surface inclination, it's a common thing in long range shooting having a bubble level indicating the cant of the scope

in my opinion any unstabilized tank shopuld face stabilizers there should be a 1.0 br cap between stabilizers and unstabilzed tank except some exceptions but that might include all french tanks

Somua is a premium. Legit only reason, it was HEAVILY buffed recently and is extremely good atm
None of the French 7.7 vehicles should be 8.0 tbh.
The only "good" thing about this tank is that it gets APHE at a BR where it's a dying breed of shell, but the lack of a stabilizer and higher pen shell type is extremely painful.
It is people like you doing so darn well with these tanks that make snail raise br

Day 19 You should play a tank with hydropneumatic suspension (recommend the MBT-70) But the catch is you have to drop the suspension as low as it can go for the whole match.
I may be slightly biased but I don't mind the uptier, when I first got the thing when it was 7.3 I used it in my 8.3 lineup to begin with, still works just fine. It has M82 so if you do pen it's almost guaranteed to die, and it's relatively easy to flank and ignore armour anyway. As for what I meant by biased, the Char alone has gotten me 5 nukes
