Maureen O'hara was one of the loveliest movie stars of 'The Golden Age of Hollywood'. She was one of a kind. God rest her Irish soul. Never never was a sweet Irish soul like her out there and there never will be.
Slainte! Maureen, a true Irish Angel greatly missed. I loved her films, especially with The Duke, John Wayne, very entertaining and enjoyable. The chemistry between them was electric. Both now in Heaven together forever more. RIP to our movie legends.
The most Beautiful Woman & Actress in Hollywood, When God made her, He threw away the mold, There is only one of her, May she RIP & is missed by all of her Fans.
SHE IS SO HUMBLE, HER PARENTS AND SIBBLINGS ARE ALL VERY ATTRACTIVE, I REALLY ENJOYED THIS...THEY SHOULD BRING THIS SHOW BACK, ITS VERY INTERESTING....
I love that stardom didn't seem to change her. She's just the most gracious and beautiful actress that ever lived. I first saw her in miracle on 34th Street. It wasn't until years later that I saw her in all those westerns she did. She's just miraculous. What a Talented and Beautiful lady.
What an absolutely gorgeous woman she was..........I was lucky enough to see her once. It was in the foyer of the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, and she was wearing a pale full length mink coat with a green scarf on her beautiful red hair. You couldn't help but fall in love with her.
I love the natural and warm teasing\laughter w her whole family. I've always loved her in her movies; so glad I stumbled on this view to get a feel for her personality.
I remember this night so well, I was 11 yrs old. Mom and I watched it on TV, and my silly mom was surprised at Maureen's large shoes. Mom thought she was the only one with large feet, and this made my mother so happy...she adored Miss O'Hara.
So very proud and lovely to see - what a strong woman in a time when they were not considered so. Wonderful strong Dublin family behind her too. RIP Maureen xxx
Oh what a beautiful doll. she is definitely one of my favorite actresses ever, before my time but seen so many movies with her radiating through them and being pretty funny through most of it. A real nice Colleen.
Just a lovely, real Star. Saw her on a TCM show before she passed over and she was just as feisty as a dear lady could be. Did not suffer fools lightly. Also her love for the U.S. is well documented.
One of the most beautiful women of all time (maybe not the sexiest, but she had a bit of that in her also). And, she was so talented. Performances that will survive the test of time. We always talk about "The Quiet Man" But, she had moments in "The long Gray Line" that broke my heart. When the Academy gave her an Honorary Oscar, they should have also apologized for ignoring her accomplishments for so many years. Best wishes to the fans, friends & family of Ms FitzSimons. She has been such a gift to Ireland. To all those who care, May the sun always shine on your faces & the wind always blow at your backs. Love, Ted
One of the greatest movie stars ever and down to earth, she put her fame in it's proper place, and never lost sight of what was most important , gorgeous inside and out
Lovely, talented, feisty. Maureen O'Hara represented those traits, and then some. One of my all-time favorites of Golden Age Hollywood. May she rest in peace, beauty, and honor. Thank you so much for what you did for the movies, and the world. It made life brighter.
Now that she passed at the young age of 95 (wow that is a lot of life) I do admire her. She was a beautiful and talented lady and I think that red hair was no lie. She was fiery in real life; per the interviews I watched. She never apologized for ideas or her heritage to Ireland and I think sends feminists into a spiral....good because nothing more unfeminine are the feminists. She was her own person; walked away from Hollywood when was darn good and ready and was the FIRST woman to run a commercial airline. She was extremely intelligent and didn't need a man but she preferred having her husband, esp. her second husband by her side. She was imperfect as all of us are but if there ladies for young ladies to admire she is a farrr better example than the stuff we see today where the top gals sell themselves out in videos for money wearing less clothes than hookers...they are NOT the idols young gals should admire... Ms. OHara was. She had class!!!!!!!!
Just come across this and she was a Beautiful actress love the quite man she made so many great 🎥 she never for got wear she came from eternal rest grant her O Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her May She And All The Faithful Departed, Through You Mercy And Grace, Rest in Peace, Amen 🍀
Finally, Maureen O'Hara is being honored with an honorary Oscar later this year. Why she never got nominated in the first place despite a great body of work is beyond anyone's comprehension.
Personally I think it was because of the people she was acting with. When she was in a movie like say with John Wayne, it was a John Wayne movie etc. I think even she realized that she was the back up actor for any film she was in. She was the talented window dressing. If you have been able to study her career thru video and print , you'll begin to see her own views of this to be true. The Quiet Man was the one in my humble opinion that she should have gotten an Oscar. But like I said, it was a John Wayne movie. I think some power brokers in Hollywood had a deep seeded anger toward Wayne for political reasons and she got ignored in the process. The Hunchback of Notre dame show cased her beauty and fiery acting abilities, but of course you know the rest of that story.
Sam Britt This was certainly the case in John Ford movies. John Wayne got all the accolades and unfortunately the likes of Victor McLaglen, Ward Bond and Barry Fitzgerald were all scene-stealers. Maureen deserved more for lighting up the screen.
Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed seeing her so happy with family and friends and hearing her little stories from her past. She remains one of my most favorite actresses. A wonderful person as well as talented actress.
I loved her in her youth. She was beautiful and I loved watching her in movies. Unfortunately, when people die at 95, they are completely forgotten and dismissed. Most people don't care. If someone remembers her, it's because we go back to her youth by watching videos like this. Living a long life has absolutely NO rewards. Just old age, old stories, caregivers, nursing homes, family visiting once in awhile, etc. That's the prize. Pray you don't live a long life.
Yes. There is very little dignity in old age. The wheelchair, carers, not much but memories of youth to cling to... She was one of the lucky ones who appears to have had a relatively healthy life
Maureen O’Hara has such grace and elegance! If only the “stars” of today had class like that! Maybe I would see a movie ! However I choose to only watch pre 1960 film where there was great acting, great directing without swearing, blatant sex and they actually had a plot
She turned 92yrs just over a month ago now. She was brilliant in the Golden Age. I hope that all is well & wonderful with Maureen O'Hara. She's provided so much joy to decades for fans around the world.♥
I love Maureen O'Hara and all her movies I especially fell in love with her in The quiet Man what a beautiful country Ireland is I've often wanted to visit there but I have not been able to love your Irish Waterford Crystal. And most of all the Irish people are beautiful and very hospitable. When I listen to 7th grade we had opportunity to pick a pen pal I had chosen one from Ireland but I am so sorry I never got to write a letter.
As beautiful as she was she had the temper a drunk sailor. But always feminine. The Parent Trap was always my favorite Walt Disney movie. She was drop dead gorges in that comedy.
My first movie star, next to Judy Garland. I remember going to my grandparents house and my Grandma Cook would pop in Miracle on 34th Street in the VHS player and we'd watch it around Christmas time, as she would give us something to do while she talked with my parents. Come St. Patrick's Day, The Quiet Man would be on television and with family, we'd watch that too. Maureen O'Hara has been apart of my life for all 28 years, and I was so glad, in her last year on Earth, she was finally recognized with an Honorary Oscar for a life's work in film. Not many stars of her generation were as lucky, as the the only other actor to get an Honorary Oscar for a life's work without a single nomination was Myrna Loy. Because she finally achieved recognition so sought after for years, her passing, though sad, was a final victory for a victorious life.
One of the greatest (and most under rated) stars of Hollywood's golden era. Apart from her great talents she was also one of the most beautiful women to grace the silver screen and thanks to the magic of cinema her legacy will live as long as films are shown.
When I first saw Miss Maureen O'Hara in the movie The Quiet Man I fell in love with her, though I was just a boy. I still love her simply because she is so passionate, and so affectionate, and so gracious in all her ways.

I met Maureen at "Rory Dolans" Irish 🇨🇮restaurant in Yonkers, NY back around 1994. She was sitting at a table next to me. I talked to her a bit and she was nice enough to take a picture with me. She was one of a kind for sure.
This is really old-fashioned clip and is typical of 1950s' American TV; very corny and compared with today, made with very poor production values. However, what shines from these fuzzy black and white images is the beauty and charisma of the legendary Maureen O'Hara. She has a gift of naturalness in speaking to people that shines out and was evident in every performance she gave throughout her film career. A very rare talent that is still shining today. God Bless You.
Well said. Maureen O'Hara was and still remains a woman who is bigger than life, not because she was a screen legend, but because she has a very big heart...something that is lacking in subsequent generations of stars. Additionally, even though this TV show had primitive technology, notice how well Ralph Edwards interacted with and quickly interviewed each guest while keeping the show constantly moving along. Real talent, and without teleprompters or video tape machines. These broadcasts were often done live. Ralph really loved doing these shows, and he became one of Hollywood's biggest producers. I used to work across the street from his studios, and occasionally I'd bump into him in restaurants on Hollywood boulevard. 'Great guy !
