“I didn't let anyone push me into things I didn't want to do where my career was concerned. I never lost my faith in God.” -Maureen O'Hara
I love, love, love this.😍🌸😍🌸
Wow. I had no idea she went through this. These stories need to be told. My goodness...,...
@@JuliaShalomJordan Me too
...a whole lot!!!
You are awesome! I enjoy your stories so much! Thank you for your hard work.❤️
Amen
She was a STUNNER including as she got older.I knew she had a STRONG exterior, but WOW! Inspiring! Rest easy Miss O'Hara. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️
She aged gracefully and stayed vivacious through the end! Very inspiring woman ❤❤
What a remarkable woman.
Her face is gorgeous. It’s wonderful she kept it…and her morals!
Can’t get more beautiful than that!🌸💞🌸💞🌸
🎉🎉🎉Exactly why she’s been one of my all-time favorites.
That was one of my favorite things about her is her morals.
Loved her - my favorite actress.
These misogynist directors were/are often on the DOWN LOW.😂
EXACTLY. That's why they hate on women because they don't even like women and they're not even attracted to them. 😂
*"Many people would resist because of Monetary reasons... I would resist because *I'M *IRISH!!"* RIGHT ON, GIRL!!! LOVE YOU!
Being clocked for going to the bathroom, that is nuts!! Who in their right mind want to be dragged through crap in a scene? Good for her!
Nobody in this era would put up with that!!
Wrong as late as mid 90’s you had to swipe your id to get in to the restroom and break room, then you have to swipe both rooms to leave. If you didn’t swipe and follow someone else before door lock it was a firing offense. Then had to be logged on your computer before your break or lunch time ended they preferred the last 30 seconds of rest time. Forget about going to the toilet when not on break or lunch.
Welcome to At Will State aka Red State jobs.
@@jakesbel8237 Can I ask where, what company and position this was at?
@@dorothyedwards7225 it was a car rental place, but not just there also as manufacturing as a inventory management, and other businesses it’s common sorry to say. Another they get away with and have for years instead of a hourly paid they give you a monthly salary the pay is better until you realize pretty fast they expect 10 to 12 hour days so you are actually working 50-60 hours a week and making less then minimum wage.
@@dorothyedwards7225 My sister worked for the railroad (1980's), she was written up for using the bathroom too many times. Had to go before a committee to plead her case, etc. She won, but had she lost she would have been fired.
Maureen O'Hara is one of my favorite actresses. Her fiery temper matched her stunning red hair. She was so beautiful. She stood her ground against the powers in Hollywood and was able to hold her head high unlike the actresses then and even now. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for the bio on Maureen O’Hara from the “greatest generation.” She was an enduring role model with exceptional beauty in appearance and in spirit!
💐🌹🥀🌺🌷🪷🌸💮🏵️🪻🌻🌼💐🌹🥀🌺🌷🪷🌸💮🏵️🪻🌻🌼 leaving her ALL the flowers. What a brave woman.
This abuse is horrible, especially the physical abuse and trying to pressure her to get work done on her face. I am part Irish, so I have some of those facial features, yes, even the broad jawline. She had every right to sue them.
What are Irish features? They are no different from English Welsh, or Scottish. Many of who are part Irish
me too....sign of determination and more testosterone
The first Maureen O'Hara movie I saw was Jamaica Inn. I was surprised to learn she was only 17-18 when she filmed that movie. My dad was a huge fan of hers.
Hey Gabriel, your Dad & every man with eyes & ears loved Maureen & we can see why. l seen her a few times talking at the Capitol Building about causes & people she supported. A rare person indeed, beauty, brains, courage & morality in a gorgeous package 🙏
I first discovered her in THE PARENT TRAP..1961
Me too! Love that movie.
Such a CLASSIC! Loved Hayley Mills in it too. Sinbad the Sailor was great as well. ❤️💐
Loved that version! I thought she was so pretty and the actors really killed it in their roles.
My favorite movie with her in it. I always loved watching her. She is so pretty.
Me too !
Ohhhhhhh...that GOLDEN ERA! What a beauty...so lovely & an outstanding actress. I miss Maureen.
1st. Women to Head of airline company. Clapping back the abuser. Literally.Nicely done👏🏾💐👏🏾💕
I can’t imagine who would think that her face needed changing, she was gorgeous?!
One of my all time favorites! 🌺🌸🌼🌹Her role in Hunchback of Notre Dame was extraordinary.
I've always loved Maureen O'Hara, she's one of my favorite actresses and she came across as a tough broad. Your video makes me love her more. 💐💐💐💐
Thank you for showcasing Maureen O'Hara!
The more I heard about Maureen O'Hara and what she been through on Hollyweird the more I have so much respect for her for standing up for herself. 💐💐💐
hollyweird...how original (not)
Karine you are a great compassionated storyteller!
She's a legendary icon that stood on business and never change. And gorgeous at that.
On this St. Pat's Day, I encourage all to watch Maureen in The Quiet Man, and I defy anyone to watch it without dissolving 😢 into tears. ❤❤ 🍀 Thank you Karine.
One of my all time favourite movies ❤
Loved Quiet Man but the real tearjerker is How Green Was My Valley.
❤❤❤
One of my mother's favorite
My fav movie of all time
Hollywood would be a much different industry had more women stood up to the “casting couch” producers and directors they way Miss O’Hara did. 🍀🍀🌷🌷
I'd like to recommend Tippi Hedren for a future breakdown video. I believe she just turned 94 this year!
Yes, she defied the lewd directors also. Especially Hitchcock. These ugly male directors forcing themselves on the actresses. today it is Weinstein.
She played in so many John Wayne westerns and other movies with him as his leading lady. ⚘️
She was his favorite leading lady, of course!!!
I loved her. She was a great beauty, inside and out, and a woman of faith. 🌸🌸🌸
She was definitely an amazing woman. Thank you for all your hard work editing and producing to share her history with us!
Thank you for doing this video. I didn’t know anything about her at all. I just know I loved her in the movie “The Parent Trap” which is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Thank you I was just trying to remember if that was her in The Parent Trap.
I want to thank you, my mother passed away this December and I have a beautiful memory of the both of us watching one of your episodes on a summer night on her front porch. We had a small fire going. During this time, my father passed away summer of 2022. My mom loved the "original actresses and actors" and it was truly a blessing we got to watch it and forget our pain for 30 minutes, thank you
May God bless you
@@kimkelly9046 thank you
Nice share memory❤
Thank You SO MUUUCH for posting a woman who just gives me LIFE. I grew up watching a lot of her films on FILM4 in UK. I LOVE how she picks at her own appearance (even though she was considered a great beauty) but would not change her looks for NOBODY ❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️❤️❤️
I just love when you do these deep dives 💐😍 especially during the golden era of Hollywood.
Im so glad she didn't cave to the pressure to change her nose. She was a beauty.
I’m Irish and i live not too far from her child hood home. I grew up watching her on film and on tv. She was a strong , resilient, funny and smart woman….
"When Withstanding A LOT Of FOOLISHNESS Unfortunately 'Comes With The Territory' When You STAND For PERSONAL Principles...."
Thanks For Sharing!👍✌️
I know her from Only the Lonely with John Candy. I love that film and she is wonderful in it.
So youv'e never heard or seen "The Quiet Man"??🙄
Maureen is my favorite actress. She also did alot of charity work and lobbied Congress on behalf of John Wayne, so he would be awarded the medal of honor. She mentored other actors like John Candy, who coaxed her out of retirement to be featured in his film None but Lonely. She was nominated for many awards concerning that film and also The Christmas Box. She was still very beautiful in her older years. Just an exquisite and beautiful lady inside and out!
I'm almost 80. When I was young, to me she always so stood out in movies. She was intensely passionate and it showed in how she acted in them. I always like how she was. She deserved respect for being true to her uniqueness.
I have always adored her, i knew she was strong but not this strong ! What a woman. Her best role was ' The Quiet Man ', beautiful film.
For Maureen 💐💐💐💐🌸🌺🌹
The stylist who created those swooped updos was not playing and when I was in the workforce in the 80s that's how I wore my hair. I get chills seeing those incredible updo creations. You don't see hairstyles like that anymore. Maureen was a strong, courageous woman🌻🌻🌻🌻 she definitely earned her flowers. Excellent report.
I really enjoyed this BUT AM SHOCKED at what she went thru !! 😱 OMG !
Thanks for posting! 💐
🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀 One of my favorite Hollywood actresses. I loved her in How Green Was My Valley & The Quiet Man. 🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹
Wow what a history Maureen O’Hara had. I am now inspired by her. Thank you Karine for bringing this story to fruition. 🌺🌸🌼
Could you do a video on Ida Lupino? She was a noted director as well as a fine actress. Admired Maureen O'Hara
💐I had wanted you to do a video on Maureen for a year now, I knew she was a fighter against the demons of Hollywood. She's so strong and inspirational and I love women that stood up from bullies of the golden era. I first watched her on the pirate movie "Black Swan". All those nasty weird men desires her and wanted to control her, but she flicked them off and walked away with dignity. What a woman!💐💋
One of my favorites actresses especially in her roles with John Wayne in The Quiet Man and McClintock
Punching Maureen in the Face... sealed his fate forever. There *IS *NO IRISH WOMAN WHO WILL TOLERATE ANYTHING EVEN **REMOTELY* SIMILAR TO THAT.
What a beautiful, class act!🎉💐
She refused to be desperate. I admire that
My favorite movies with Maureen O'Hara was with John Wayne. The two had a chemistry together. She was beautiful and a great actress.
Maureen O’Hara what a beautiful woman and great actress and what a story. My favorite movie is The Quiet Man and of course John Wayne was her co-star. Good for her that she stood up for herself. I’m sorry for what she had to endure just to be who she was. I’m thankful that we get to see her work on films and interviews.
💐 🌹 🌸! My mother loved Ms. O'hara for all the reasons you presented ❤️
Moxie O' Hara more like it 🎉🎉🎉 what an amazing woman, truly a legend , astonishing god given natural beauty! RIP 🌹🌼
When I hear Maureen O'Hara, I think of her role in "Only The Lonely".
I can't wait to hear about her life! Just when I think there couldn't possibly be anymore classic beauties from the golden age of Hollywood, you manage to still find some. Great job! Keep up the good work!
"Be so good at your craft that even your haters have to respect you and work with you!" Thanks for inspiring us with O'Hara's phenomenal story💐❤❤
I just love your commentary on old Hollywood you make me feel like I’m there in that ERA!!! ❤ 💐
Interestingly, Dorothy Dandridge was part of the same Confidential magazine lawsuit.
I really do appreciate you being so graceful & talking about all of these people as humans ❤❤
Yeah, that Ford guy’s violence towards her was definitely giving “closet case” to me.🤔
We appreciate your insights. You'll always have our support.
My mums fave actress just found a bunch of Maureen dvds at thrift shop for her 😁
I know Danielle Steel isn’t really an actress but still she seems to live a glam life & I love her books & movies based on them. She would be interesting to cover 📚
Ooh yes! I agree!
On that note jackie collins and her sister joan would be great breakdowns too
Wow! Loved thid story:) What a powerhouse! Thank you Karine !🩷
Just rewatched! Much respect!! Thank you so much for exposing the good ones they don’t want us to remember 🙏
missmercury, Yes! Only The Lonely was such a great film! Never got its due praise either. O'Hara and John Candy were wonderful
working together. They did a Johnny Carson show together to promote this film.
One of my faves, love your channel and thank you for uploading👏👏👏
I love how she didn't take any ones crap. She's a stunning woman with a fierce spirit. Great video again, Karine❤
Awesome work as ever!!!
Well done Karine! Great subject also. 🌺🌹🥀💐
I can't believe that they wanted to change her face! I'm glad she stood up to them. Thanks for sharing! At age 70 I would characterize my health as fair. I can certainly relate to Maureen's health problems, but I don't want to live to be 95...
Great job! I’m dying to get her autobiography. Yes she was outspoken and didn’t take any BS from anyone. Hence, the haters tried their hardest to bring her down, and she was strong enough to stand tall through it all. BRAVO MAUREEN!
I just read her autobiography! It is revealing-the abuse she went through from directors and actors on set was harrowing
Thank You for the insight on interesting people that we never would have known.
Thank you so much Karine!❣💓💗 It's been awhile since I visited your channel. I sort of had a little time and just watched Loretta Young. I am so glad I did. This reinforces my interests. Exposing and beautifully showcasing and narrating these starlets, you do it beautifully, professionally, and respectfully!!!❤🤎🖤💖💯🌹💐
Thank you for this. 💙

She was soo beautiful ❤
Thank you, I loved that. x
Thank you for this video
I just watched her 1948 movie, “Sitting Pretty”, with Robert Young and Clifton Webb.
I had forgotten about that one. Such a keeper.
She has always been one of my favorite actresses. Bravo Maureen❣️❣️❣️

Loving your channel ❤❤❤
She's one of my favorite actresses, an absolutely gorgeous woman! She did not need plastic surgery, so glad she resisted. ❤🌹🌷🌺💐
God Bless you for Paying it Forward ❤
Thank you ❤. I love her
Maureen O'Hara was such a strong beautiful woman. She's one of my favourite actresses from that era! I liked her acting partnership with John Wayne. She took no nonsense and had spunk! R.I.P Maureen O'Hara. You're certainly forgotten! 🙏🙏🙏💐💐
I thoroughly enjoyed that job. Well done! I always loved her and her movies. She was a great actress. Thank you for sharing and putting out all that wonderful information now I think I’ll go get a book on her.
I love your own insights injected into the video. They add a fun uniqueness!
Im interested in Miriam Makeba...
She paved the way! 💐 🌹 💐
Three cheers for you Karine Alourde. Another great program. This time a powerful look at the career of the spectacular actress Maureen O'Hara, who had nothing handed to her and fought to keep her self-respect.
love her!!
Hey beautiful ❤
When I was a kid, i fell in love with Maureen O'Hara--she was like a fancier version of my grandma, but she had the same adorable, playful , energetic glint in her eye, the genuine warmth of her smile, that little spark of 'feisty' beneath a composed exterior... I still think of both women as two of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
Great video.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
