I liked that zundapp...and the lady dancer outside the threads shop.... I saw some fabulous scooters at the bargate in Southampton in 66...copper plated side panels..

Indeed, but it's not ageing well is it? Especially with all the tacky autos, union jacks and targets being sported by middle aged men and women. Anybody who has ever truly understood mod will know where I'm coming from.
@@nsoul8469 I don't think it is suppose to age well to be honest. Are any of our young ones Mods or Rockers these days? Just nice to see them keeping the faith and doing what they enjoy. Wish I had the scoot to join them lol and the bottle :-)
@@nsoul8469 It’s a bit of a contradiction to be fair mod or modernist was a movement supposed to be an ever evolving scene in the 60’s changing with times so that small window say 64-66 which the whole present day scene is based on. I would class myself as a mod to a certain degree I love the music and some of the clothes but subtly is the key unless yes you just look like a walking cliche. I do have a scooter which basically looks standard other than the fact it has a highly tuned engine not an additional light or target in sight.It does make me cringe when I see a modern auto done up like a Christmas tree but each to their own as they say mods show their appreciation to that fantastic era of music and clothes in different ways.
@@lavertera That sums it up perfectly doing what you enjoy with other like minded individuals. I’m occasionally a fat man in parka but no targets or additional lights for me ta keep the faith ✊
@@Robcatist Just love what you have said. I have a wide and varied love of music, just take out Punk and Head Banging stuff and i'm ok. The only rock stuff I love is done by Showaddywaddy and how they delivered it. I'm 19 in my head but, my body says different like many others my age I should think and so glad to have lived through them times to. Yes keep the faith 🤘🤘🤘
I mentioned before I remember my original US Army parka & the smell of Castrol R from the scooters. Old pals like Fred my best friend & Spud & Johno. Oh great days down Margate meeting up with the others ......
Remember there were two waves of Mods. The original Castrol R boys with original US parka's longer hair and 2nd hand scooters much like the Film and then later the plastic mods whos Daddy bought them a brand new Lambreta SX2000. By that time the originals bought smart suits & were driving about in smart cars like me and Fred in his Ford Consul 375. Could tell some stories ...
