I was a rocker in the 60’s riding Nortons (350cc Navigator and 650ss), some years later I had a couple of Lambrettas but went back to bikes and now at the age of 80 I’ve got a Honda VFR v-tech….without doubt the best bike I’ve ever owned. During the 80’s I worked in Sweden (Stockholm, Uppsala and Umea) and got to love the country and it’s people. This video is so typical of the Swedes, very orderly and organised; I was unaware of the popularity of the mods & rocker culture though. The custom car movement was very prominent when I worked there…..as was ABBA of course!
@meilurquart . . . I hope I'm still riding when I'm 80 years old. Last year I purchased a brand new Triumph Bonneville T120. I hadn't owned or ridden a motorcycle in 34 years !! At the age of 62, it has done wonders to improve my spirit of life. ❤ ❤
I would migrate to stockholm and buy a cafe racer and a little scooter and join them both. This palce is full of good people and no matter what , rockers or mods , they all love motorcycles and they are good to eachother
If I had lived at the time when the café racer was born, I would undoubtedly be a Rocker, since I discovered the world of motorcycles I loved the café racer, now I am a 20 year old and I have my own café racer style motorcycle, and watching this video undoubtedly makes me reaffirm that for me personally it is my favorite style, That's uncomfortable, but you adapt.
I'm a biker, I passed my test in 1977. The smell of 2 stroke oil must have been great that day! I've never ridden a scooter though. I love the older bikes and own bikes from the 70s 80s and early 90s. The scooters are nice, but I must be a rocker, not a mod. I wear a leather jacket, not a parka.
60s-70s media that put mods and rockers at each others throats.just different types of two wheel travel as far as I'm concerned.although secretly most rockers wanted a lambretta....the mods smelled better.
That's 'cause there really aren't scooter riding mods anymore, and we look after our scooters just as much as you guys looked after your bikes, maybe even more.
YES I HAD A SCOOTER BUT WENT ONTO MOTORCYCLES,A 250 ARIEL ARROW,A 250 NORTON JUBILEE, AND A 200 SUZUKI INVADER, IN THOSE DAYS ONE COULD RIDE ON L PLATES UP TO 250,SADLY I NEVER TOOK MY TEST, NOW WELL OVER 60 I LIVED THROUGH THE GOLDEN AGE OF TRIUMPHS BSA'S NORTONS AND AJS'S,MY COUSIN HAD A 1960S TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD.
I was a rocker in the 70s great days great fun didn’t take part in all this bashing the mods, biking biking only hitin the road every given opportunity I had a 650 bSA) Silver Road rocket what a machine for the time 120 mph that was considered very fast in them days anyway I had the time of my life.
this looks like a rich kids fashionista. Authentic Mods and Bikers are both cool by my book. I'm an old mod, and have had loads of biker friends from work. Great people and jerks on both sides. But (real) Mods have a much better variety of music and are less subject to the politics bullshit some bikers tend to go for. Besides Mods ride in class, maybe slow but classy. Like my mom used yo say : big cylinder, small dick. Hahaha.
I always classed myself as a mocker bit of a mod and bit of a rocker.Loved the mod style and music as well a rock music but prefered proper bikes to scooters.
Same here, I dress like a Mod, listen to the music that Mods would listen to, and I like scooters (Lambretta LI150 Series 3, Lambretta LI150 Special, Lambretta TV200, Lambretta SX200, Vespa 125); However, I like a lot of Rockabilly and I like bikes (Royal Enfield Classic 500, Harley Davidson Electra Ultra Limited, Vincent Black Shadow, 1976 Kawasaki KZ900), so I guess I’m a Mocker.
I prefer the mods style but love the old school motor bikes can I be a mod with a leather Parker and bust out the old triumph scooters look cool are just a bit annoying fun to blast around on for 10 mins but lack power if you want to be out all day
Many years ago(too many !) I was in Brighton one Sunday .Very quiet and peaceful .I could not believe the Daily Mirror headlines on Monday .There were supposed to have been fights between Mods and Rockers and deckchairs thrown into the sea etc. Total chaos . Up to then I had always accepted what I read in the newspapers . What a mug ! . It has got worse with the misleading stories over the years .Lies are just as bad by what is omitted on purpose as what is said ,as well .
I rode my scooter around for years and never any rivalry with bike guys. One actually stopped me once and told me there was a problem with my scooter.. was a nice guy.
Nah, fuck the Rockers. Mods are way better, I mean, Rockers just have greasy hair with weird disgusting leather jackets. But The Mods wear fine suits and ride better looking bikes then you greasy arseholes.
What is the point? Just a bunch of posers. I remember the real days - the only times the Mods got you was when you were stopped at the traffic lights. As soon as you moved off you left them for dead or rode alongside and gave the scooter a hefty kick and waived goodbye!
I'm a scooter guy myself but those Nortons and Triumphs are gorgeous!
Still I like my # red Vespa more . 🤔
Love old rocker bikes & attire/ dig mod's music more than most rocker's music. We got a problem Houston
This is basically Suggs VS Lemmy. And I love both.
ikr ??
Motörhead and the Specials. Two bands I saw perform live a few times.
Great to see Brit culture being celebrated in Sweden. Well done guys...
Rockers with their bikes, black helmets and leather just look more bad-ass.
They display a greater affection for British culture than most Brits. Perhaps that's what is wrong with Sweden, and us.
War eine geile Ueit damals, auch durch die Vielfalt an Motorrädern! Trucky.
I was a rocker in the 60’s riding Nortons (350cc Navigator and 650ss), some years later I had a couple of Lambrettas but went back to bikes and now at the age of 80 I’ve got a Honda VFR v-tech….without doubt the best bike I’ve ever owned.

@@marekryszard riding helps to keep the mind alert and active (100% concentration ALWAYS!). Assume everybody on the road is out to kill you!!🇬🇧
It how it was b4 1964 mod & rockers riots. It use to be friendly between Mods & ROCKERS b4 the media stepped in learn from the history & docos on TV
I would migrate to stockholm and buy a cafe racer and a little scooter and join them both. This palce is full of good people and no matter what , rockers or mods , they all love motorcycles and they are good to eachother
Martin Blazevski, I quite like both culture's myself.
the fire has gone out of the mods and rockers conflict
Some thing that happened 50yrs ago still lives on,m good to see both sides out and about in the sun.
So funny hearing the scooters ride past. They sounded like a bunch of lawn mowers and sewing machines lol
Good meet. Two crews of equal strength having a gentlemanly ride by! Like Knights on steeds! It's not all about a scrap!
I'll go with the Rockers over the Moderns.
I would love to join both sides, and I will soon. I've got a '76 vespa right now and I adore it. And I have a honda cb in the works.
Do you're a mocker?
Do people realise there was more to mods and rockers than just vehicles?
I don't kmow. Please enlighten us . . .
I agree
I like old bikes and old scooters so I enjoyed watching that.
my dad was a rocker, my mum was a mod, hows that for a fight? still together to this day
If I had lived at the time when the café racer was born, I would undoubtedly be a Rocker, since I discovered the world of motorcycles I loved the café racer, now I am a 20 year old and I have my own café racer style motorcycle, and watching this video undoubtedly makes me reaffirm that for me personally it is my favorite style, That's uncomfortable, but you adapt.
Excuse my English, I speak Spanish
The style lives on! Long live the style!
I love the concept of the café racer
I'm a biker, I passed my test in 1977. The smell of 2 stroke oil must have been great that day!
I've never ridden a scooter though.
I love the older bikes and own bikes from the 70s 80s and early 90s.
The scooters are nice, but I must be a rocker, not a mod. I wear a leather jacket, not a parka.
Wow,as a Brit, this is pretty amazing...but are they angry working class or cos players?
I'm gutted, I've only got 8 mirrors. Mods, rockers, all great guys and girls.
I loved Lambrettas but was never one for all the mirrors and lights.
60s-70s media that put mods and rockers at each others throats.just different types of two wheel travel as far as I'm concerned.although secretly most rockers wanted a lambretta....the mods smelled better.
the mods were the best without a doubt awesome and the music
now that is a nice bike, a right triumph for a rocker :D
the mods scooters were awsome with all the headlights ect and if you got a ride on one you were well in with the mod crowd
That's 'cause there really aren't scooter riding mods anymore, and we look after our scooters just as much as you guys looked after your bikes, maybe even more.
winner fashion = mods ; winner bikes = rocker
Going out with your mates on two wheels. Nothing will touch that!

Call a teddy boy a mod and you'll get a shoeing! Teddy boys are rockers in the long drape Edwardian jackets hence the name teddy boys.
I just bought another new Bonneville and I don't care!
The mods look so scary in their parkas and hair dryers
I always classed myself as a mocker bit of a mod and bit of a rocker.Loved the mod style and music as well a rock music but prefered proper bikes to scooters.

I prefer the mods style but love the old school motor bikes can I be a mod with a leather Parker and bust out the old triumph scooters look cool are just a bit annoying fun to blast around on for 10 mins but lack power if you want to be out all day
How times change....
I dunno, mods look better dressed, but motorbikes are so much better then scooters
This could’ve been a great event but it just turned into an unorganised flop

Yeah, many of the modern accounts of the infamous say that it was sensationalist "news"
. . . infamous event . . .
Did the mods really chant "we are the mods"? Is this a civil war reinactment scenario? ..inspired by Quadrophenia, or legit?
There was a record out that sang "We're the Mods! We're the Mods!"
Gergeous mopeds.
Those Mods look ridiculous, coats that are too big for them with targets on there backs, the hairdryers have more mirrors than cc.s.
That's it! 15 sec or so of Rockers and the rest mod's? Seriously?!
We all ride 2 wheels so whats the problem ?? -- having said that I own 4 bikes and one trike = lots of fun

What is the point? Just a bunch of posers. I remember the real days - the only times the Mods got you was when you were stopped at the traffic lights. As soon as you moved off you left them for dead or rode alongside and gave the scooter a hefty kick and waived goodbye!
Whats the point????? people enjoying their rides without moronic cretins fighting, isn't that good enough?
