The first bike i rode was an AP 50 , my friend had one and he lived next to a common and I was 14 and he was 15 and we had so much fun on it, we used to pinch his mum's silk cut cigarettes and take my boom box and ride the common day and night blasting U2 UNDER A BLOOD RED SKY and it was pure magic. When i was 16 I got a fizzy for my birthday and it was the day I got my real independence. I'm 54 now and I miss those days and especially those bikes.
16 in 1979. Bought a motobecane X7 pedal and go. £11.50 fully comp devit da insurance. Provision license £2, Moped cost £25. I was on the road. Never been without a moped/motorcycle since then.
I had a Garelli Tiger Cross, 1976 Reg. Loved the Italian Fantic Chopper & Fantic Caballero, Gilera Cross also cool, Puch GP was fast, the Italian ped’s had tons of style.
KTM Comet Cross here in 1973, bought from the great Pete Hammonds in Cirencester, quite a rare bike back then, another was the Puch MS50 which predated the Puch GP50,s. Then after moped when it was 250's we had S1's / YDS7's / RD250's / Kawasaki A1's, .........still have a 500 triple to this day!
Moped lad here too, from Shropshire. A P reg Honda SS50 5 speed with drum front brake and orange tank. Went everywhere in 78-79 on it. Had a fizzy years later. At 63 I only have a Honda PC50 and a Fantic Rally 50 as mopeds. Great story, of great days of freedom. Keep buzzing.
I paid £120 for my purple fs1e. JAN 118N. 65cc big bore with a micron. 50 mph on the flat, 4 star by the gallon, £2 to fill up. An old dear turned right into the side of it, got my right foot between the car and rear shock. Passed my test and got an RD500lc. Terrible image quality short of my current scooter on my channel. 1999 HD FXDL.
I was 16 had a Honda ss50 1977 model with disc brake did 42 mph in 5th gear. Did Sheffield to Skegness on a full tank of fuel. Think about 80p a gallon. 😅
Great Video mate, I had a Puch moped, it got me through college,I wish I had an AP50 like you or the Fizzy, but I now have a R6 for the summer months :)
Takes me back to 1978! That's when it all began for me! I bought a friend's Casal ss4 . It was a 2 stroke, with the looks of a Honda SS50. Oddball that he bought out of a catalogue. Did 50. Happy days! Everyone else had the AP's & Fizzie's
My first 'ped' was a honda PF50, with a home made exhaust pipe made from a lawnmower handle with wire wool stuffed in it to baffle it , was the loudest 4 stroke 50 ive ever heard though 😂
😂oh the memories 😊we are going through this stage again 🎉all buying old ap suzuki and yam fizzys like we had at 16 and they are more fun than new bikes🎉🎉
Had a Puch V50 in 76, in Penwortham near Preston, bloody great. Had 62 motor bikes since and still alive! just.
I had a VS50D in '73, it would wheelie for miles.
Fantastic days
Gang of us flying around
Abbots Langley / Watford area
