    Hi,
    I've been enjoying your videos. As the owner of an 87 Vette I've found them quite helpful. Currently I'm trying to figure out the vacuum hose routing on the intake. Mine were goofed up when I started. Could you possibly do a video showing the routing of the hoses or do you know of a good source? I have the factory helm manual but it's not too helpful. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, it's greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

      No problem, glad to share the know how. You're correct about the Helms manual being rather incomplete. I have an 85 Corvette TPI I will be dismantling in the next few weeks. I will let you know once I get the video posted. 👍

    if you were to go to headers instead of the exhaust manifold could you remove all the smog stuff?

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, once all the smog related equipment is out of the way it cleans up the engine compartment quite a bit. Since the cars are around 30 years old you won't get in trouble since they don't smog check vehicles that old in most states.

    I have these manifolds in my '84 Monte Carlo...what years of Corvette were these in ?
    Trying to seal my exhaust leak at this area...I was told to put nothing back between the Y pipe and manifold when I removed my drivers side manifold. Passenger side still has whatever is wedged between it's Y pipe and it's manifold...now I have a loud tapping on acceleration and I know it's not my lifters or torque converter bolts.
    That 3" exhaust flange inserted in the Y pipe...that should be there to prevent exhaust leaks or it's not needed ?

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These log type manifolds were exclusive to the F-Bodies and certain other GM cars like your Monte Carlo. The Corvettes had more of a tubular header exhaust manifold with built-in AIR tubes that weren't used on anything else.
      You are correct. There isn't a traditional donut gasket like in the older cars with these exhaust manifolds. I believe the spacer you're referring to is to aid in sealing the mid-pipe to the y-pipe.

    • @tynandill926
      @tynandill926 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VetteSource "aid" meaning not required if the flanges sit flush against each other, no warps or bends, sealing as should by eye ?
      You should only need an aid to better something damaged, correct?
      So as long as my flanges are in good shape, I shouldn't need the spacer ?

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource  ปีที่แล้ว

      You know, I've never tried it without tye spacer. I'd give it a shot and see how it works

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VetteSource thank you man i’m installing headers right now i started with the passenger side is it the most difficult side ?

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. Glad to help. Yep the passenger side has quite a bit more to get out of your way during the installation process, but if you take it slow and steady, and think of it like a puzzle you'll get through it alright.
