With this problem fix my transmission from overheating the upper radiator hose Is extremely hard and the lower hose is Warm to touch with the water pump calls the upper radiator hose not to circulate
If the water pump is going bad it won’t circulate the coolant. But with your symptoms, I’d say you have a bad thermostat. Which is a easy fix to do your self. Make sure when you swap it out you bleed the system of air our you’ll overheat. Let me know how you make out brother.

Do I have to loosen anything before I put 15mm socket on to remove belt? My tensioner isn’t moving at all and afraid I’ll snap something if I put tooo much pressure on it. Thanks for anyone that can help
Good question brother, on these motors it’s not required. You can see when I took it out there was none present. Some manufactures and years require rtv. But not for this application brother.
Great video. I am trying to find out where my coolant is going. Overflow is empty. I don't smell any coolant. No coolant in the oil. I get moisture build up on the inside of my windshield (not sure if it has anything to do with coolant). Where is a good place to start? Thanks for a reply! Have a great day.
Thanks for the feedback brother. Do you have a sweet smell inside the jeep? If you do you can have a failing heater core. The rug would be wet on the passenger side footwell. Do you see any dripping on the floor overnight? Is the bottom of the jeep soaked?
Being that it’s wet your going to need to replace that heater core brother. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that job is no joke and involves removing the entire dashboard. You won’t have heat soon if it didn’t go away yet. But if you want you can go under the hood find the two heater core lines going into the firewall. It will be on the passenger side remove the lines and join them together with a pipe and you can drive it like that without loosing coolant You just won’t have any heat whatsoever. Let me know how you make out brother or what you do.
It will leak from the weep hole on the bottom, or start to squeal/squeak/groan, or you can pull the belt and grab the pulley and it will have play in it.
The FSM has no 3.7 idler pulley torque spec. On the internet, I have found 3.7/4.7 idler pulley torque specs of 30-35'lbs, 40'lbs, and 45'lbs. Not wanting to over tighten a bearing, I used 30-35'lbs. You’ll be good with these lbs.
