Pekka Koskela went straight to the top. Who could have expected, nobody, now anything can be expected.. next goal 500 meters.. below 34 seconds. Just do it !
It wasn't that fast for a fast opener like him. Wotherspoon had done a couple of 24.3 laps before on the 1000 but usually, their second lap is 2 or more seconds slower than their first lap, which in this case it wasn't.
Yeah I agree, for a pure sprinter such as Koskela 1.4 seconds is a small margin. Still, any 600m below 41 seconds is very fast. But unlike this race, sprinters such as Kato, Ronald Mulder, Murashov, Ntab and Gao almost never go below 1:08 because of their second lap being around 27 seconds. So valid point.
He hit Pekka's skate if I'm right. Gosh, some people were talking about Pekka like he didn't do something special last season, while he was one of the best back then! They even said Mika Poutala was way better then Pekka.. uhh, right xS
Great Pekka from Finland, Greetings from Holland!!!

koskela... EEN ZEVEN NUL-NUL WERELDRECORD, ongelovelijk... I love it. I always knew koskela could do something like this. go pekka.
Way to go Pekka Koskela from Finland! Hyvä Suomi ja Seinäjoki!!!
Didn't expect Koskela to do this. just amazing..
I love how the commentators didn't realise how fast that first round of Koskela was. I think it's because of his relative calm style of skating
