This is like watching a rollercoaster but for car engines! So many twists and turns, I never knew picking up a wrench could be this dramatic. But seriously, huge props to Santa's Workshop for the save! Can't wait to see this bad boy finally roar to life next episode.

I tighten my plugs with a Snap-On flank drive low profile socket ( S9724RHS ). I run the plug in with my fingers then snug up the socket with a crowfoot.

I always use a open face wrench to do spark plugs on my gbody with a Chevy 350 with headers
Randy the regular duralast ones are remand and the duralast golds are brand new from the casting to the internals

This happens sometimes with starting new parts . Seeing if everything is in place, but there's baby steps in some applications. You can't just turn a camera on & shell start. Trial & era... Good come back video

Randy the easiest way to mess with the spark plugs on a G-Body is to jack it up and pull the wheels off and get it from the inside wheel wells otherwise you're going to be busting your fingers or the spark plugs!

Good Morning There My Good Little Bro Randy Lee Shear Of Auto Auction Rebuilds
The water pump went out on my 76 Ford F-250 Highboy 4x4 so I went to the local parts store and picked one up.
It was supposed to be new, not rebuilt. Put it on and put coolant in it, unfortunately it leaked worse than the one
I took off. Back to the parts house for another. Same thing happened again, so I went back a third time.
I told the parts guy if this one leaks, I'm coming back and beat someone on the head with it.
Not that it was their fault, but my pickup wasn't exactly low, so it was a pita. Fortunately the third one was fine...
So happy to hear it run. Such a mean sounding engine. Bet she'll sound good with the exhaust system installed

About that failed water pump, it's incredible how many new parts fail. Quality is going down the line. I had recently a brand new blower and a new coolant temperature sensor bad right out of the box.

Hello Randy, Mike aka Santa's Workshop and Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. Finally getting the condenser and radiator installed in the 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. Can't wait to hear the first start and drive.
Wow, never had that kind of trouble with water pumps; hope 3rd time is a charm. When I had headers on my trans am, I drilled a hole in the inner fender well to slide a socket extension through, to do that @#$@# last spark plug - not saying it's right but it did the job. Props to Santa for saving the day; life's great when you have real friends.

The show on Motor Trend, Engine Masters did a segent on whether or not smashing header tubes hurts performance......it had NO change in performance....dent away!!!!

The theory that reshaping new Headers with a large hammer 🔨 will hinder the engine performance was proven wrong by the “Experts on Engine Masters” . So Randy , you are correct, it is a bit unsightly, but the engine performance is not affected.
Block hugger headers would work just good on that car they're designed more for these cars They fit tighter to the block and also you don't have to worry about the crossmember.
Randy, filming the work you do would make it easier to remember where parts go.

I use flowtech headers on my 1980 Oldsmobile cutlass 2door 350 Chevy Factory motor mount With no problem at all

Put that home made spark plug socket in the glovebox incase you have any issues on power tour!
Right before you bolt the motor on the mount you have to put the header down the side

Coming alone fine Randy..until you came across formally know as Auto Shack water pump..but that are their quality..which is non existence..but anyway don't give up..we all are waiting for your finished product.
If Randy showed up wearing a foot cast, we would all know how the water pump broke. Oops!
yes!!!poor old santa does look "proper knackered"....poor chap!!!!as regards to the header with the dent,can they not be sent back to the makers and just replace that one pipe????.
Randy, is the water pump housing cracked? If not, maybe it’s leaking from the mounting holes. Some of the mounting holes go straight into water jackets. May you just need some tread sealer on the mounting bolts.
Might got on ur nerves putting brand new 383 stroker in Gbody Monte SS Randy but @ end was well worth listening to motor start

I HATE HEADERS!!! Bought a pair for my 57 Chevy/350 combo! The one on the passenger side fit fine BUT!!! The drivers side wasn't worth SQUAT!! Took em off and re installed my stock ones back on!
What brand headers are these ?! Please start telling us more info on the parts you’re installing !!

Hi ALL! As Gene Wilder said in the movie Young Frankenstein, "IT LIVES, well, sort of." I wonder how much blood was donated to the DIY god this go-round. My theory as to why the car refused to run is simple. It sensed the garage doors were closed and didn't want to be the cause of your deaths. Now I know that the SS stands for, Sometimes Starts.
