When Oscar Peterson was once asked his favorites of his own records, he named LIVE FROM CHICAGO first. I KNOW spirit of OP approves and LOVES this accurate manuscript that so many have surely wished for. I know I did. Since high school I listened to this recording innumerable times, so often wondering if it would ever be captured on paper to deepen understanding of.THANK you, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, and Ed Thigpen. And thank you AT channel for another world class transcription surprise.
I never knew that! Super cool. I've always absolutely loved it, too. Sounds strange, but I love hearing the clink of the listener's cutlery and crockery as they eat and drink. How many people were there that night that had no idea such a seminal record was being recorded? How many people were there that just got dragged there and weren't impressed at all? Perhaps it's just me that thinks like that, but as a professional pianist I've had many nights where I feel I'm playing really well but the audience just isn't present at all.. Chicago was always one of my faves - this swings so hard it's unture.
Oh man. I don't want to play piano anymore. Oscar was beyond everyone, just out of reach. This excellent transcription showcases his capabilities even more. Thank you for that.
