please help me. I drive a 2007 Vauxhall Vectra C 1.9cdti 120 bhp. I fitted a brand new drivebelt tensioner and belt and I noticed the alternator pulley and tensioner pulley get red hot, I was told this is normal but I'm doubtful. After 4 months I heard a very loud grating/rattling sound so at a guess I fitted another new tensioner pulley, the one I took off had black melted grease looking grease substanceon the back of it which was probably caused by the heat . So I fitted a new tensioner pulley yet again but a few days later there is like a grating sound again around the belt area, do you have any idea what it could be ? I'm sure the tensioner is lined up properly because otherwise the belt would fit on would it ? On the back of the tensioner it doesn't have a lug/dowel such as the one in this video does, on my one it has a peg type thing on it. Thanks

A mechanic replaced timing last year, but after this video I realise that he under tightened the tensioner, as it wasn’t pointing to the hole, but lower to that slide cut. Also he wash pushing screw driver to the sprocket. And now after one year, something developed a high pitch rattle on start up and constant whine. Now I have to redo it again myself. I think that was last time to let a stranger to touch my beloved car😁 Thanks for detailed video, very well made and informative 👍
Meanwhile I did it myself on my 2011 Saab 9-5. As a non- mechanic, it took me around 8 hours. Your video encouraged me to do it by myself and was very helpful. All went fine, thanks!
Thank you, what a brilliant video, your no nonsense approach is great, no unnecessary talking, no posing for the camera, your a 🌟. Whenever I need to do a job on my car I will be sure to check out your videos. I am doing my cambelt tomorrow, with confidence, thanks again.
Excellant video. Mine's a Vectra single cam and took a leasurely 7 hours inc. lunch, tea and ice cream breaks lol. On the Vectra the engine mount must be removed before the top cover as at 2:56, and fitted in the reverse order, not as shown at the end of the video. The V-belt tensioner on mine is slightly different at 5:14. It doesn't have those two holes below as shown in the video and the Haynes manual, instead it has them out of sight at the top close to the engine, and the tensioner didn't swing as far away from the engine as shown so getting the mount off was a fiddle. All back together and engine runs well , the rhythmic rattle has gone. I'll road test it tomorrow and show it some hills to check the water leak has gone. I'll also look out for vibrations mentioned in the header as I also noticed the mount holes didn't line up. Thanks

Excellent video. If the tensioner belt disintegrates, is it possible that fragments of it could find its way under the cam belt cover & cause the cam to hop?
Well done, great tutorial, but the only thing is that the tensioner has a small hex drive in the front on and eccentric cam to tension, you dont need to lever the body. Just rotate with the hex then tighten the bolt to lock.
Great video! I need to replace timing belt in my Alfa 159 1.9 16v but I haven't got timing mark on camshaft casing! Is there other markings or I have to use a locking tool? Is there any chace to change it without it?

Hello I have a question pls answer I got timing belt changed and after that my car is a bit noisier, is there anyway i did not time it right? But it starts and goes like before
Hi.. I replaced only the timing belt, idler and tensioner to my Alfa 156. I followed every step as in the video but when I started the engine it start to pull out bluish/white smoke on the exhaust pipe, after the engine has warmed up the smoke is barely visible only when I turn the engine 2-3 thousand rpm I can see the smoke. I mention that the engine starts and runs as before. has something to do with the HP Fuel Pump it has to be aligned or something? does not have any markings on the sprocket. I need help!! Thanks
thank you for your quick answer. then what could be the problem? I aligned all the markings from the camshaft, crankshaft and the markings on the belt as in the video
Hard to say, If the engine starts fine and runs fine, this won't be anything connected with the timing system. Ten engine cranking time while starting the engine is the same as it was before?
Yes, the engine cranking time is the same as before. I forgot to mention that when I aligned camshaft markings with the old timing belt the crankshaft mark was at 8 o'clock, so when I put the new belt and aligned the belt mark with the camshaft markings, the mark on the belt that goes on the crankshaft was at 9 o'clock. So first put it this way with the belt mark at 9 o'clock and crankshaft markings at 8 as it was with the old timing belt, after that moved the crankshaft mark at 9 o'clock and made a new mark on engine block, so now the belt mark was aligned with the crankshaft. but nothing has changed the engine starts and runs the same and that smoke did not disappear.I hope you understood what I said and I'm sorry if I bother you with all these questions and comments.Thank you!
Well , once the camshaft markings are alligned, the crankshaft markings must be at 9 clock. Those markings will then allign with the two markings on the belt while fitting it. See the belt fitting procedure again: th-cam.com/video/b9TNc6PkYyw/w-d-xo.html
I didn't block it. No need to do it if you place the belt correctly. The marks on the belt show you exactly how the crankshaft mark must be locacted on 9 o'clock. th-cam.com/video/b9TNc6PkYyw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=FixandDrive
excellent walk through! thankyou! can i ask, are the timing marks the same on the Z19DTH motor? im getting a few different answers. the timing is out on my astra Z19DTH and need to get it correct. thanks

I mention that the engine starts and runs as before. has something to do with the HP Fuel Pump it has to be aligned or something? does not have any markings on the sprocket. I need help!! Thanks
the fuel pump doesn't need to be alligned with the rest of the system.
thank you for your quick answer. then what could be the problem?
Muy buen video realmente muy detallado🙏
Thank you so much is was a helpful video
how you blocked the crankshaft pulley how you removed the pulley
I didn't block it. No need to do it if you place the belt correctly. The marks on the belt show you exactly how the crankshaft mark must be locacted on 9 o'clock. th-cam.com/video/b9TNc6PkYyw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=FixandDrive
Très bonne vidéo . Bon travail
excellent walk through! thankyou! can i ask, are the timing marks the same on the Z19DTH motor? im getting a few different answers. the timing is out on my astra Z19DTH and need to get it correct. thanks
The z19dth timing belt has 3 marks, the same as 2.0 cdti. See this: th-cam.com/video/mxZumw-S_FM/w-d-xo.html
thanks for your quick response. I actually mean the Cam and crank markings. ie the cam markings at 1 oclock and crank at 9 oclock. and now from that video youb have link me it seems the fuel pump HAS to be at around 10 oclock too?
Will this guide work for the 150 vectra? Will all the tensions be the same?
Thanks for a great video.
