@@TheSnowmanvocals it was some great shows....just a shame they didn't do a weekly show of Davey Crockett I'm sure they could have made some stories over the years between the two movies Disney produced. I mean after all they made Davey Crockett and the River pirates where he meets Mike Fink..which takes place long before what was seen in Davey Crockett King of the Wild Fronter.....years later another studio made a weekly Daneil Boone tv show with Fess Parker.

My parents were immigrants from Italy, and when I was born my mother wanted me to have a true American name because my father wanted to name me Giovani. So my mother used to watch the Davy Crockett show in 1958 and decided "Davey" was an all American name. Thus my name David !!

When I was growing up in the 1960's we all "played" Davy Crockett. I had a moonshine cap and a real wood toy long rifle.
In our young minds, there was just nothing you could aspire to beyond Davy's spirit and courage.
Times have changed so much I could weep.

Thanks. This is tremendous work. In 1955 our family did not have a TV set. My dad was opposed to television. Instead of watching TV we did our homework and then played board games or cards. All the other kids were talking about the Disney series and I felt left out. Finally about 1958 or '59 we got a TV set. My dad became a big TV viewer too. I can remember we had a TV for the 1960 presidential election.

That is a wonderful collection of the songs sung for the Davy Crockett series. You even have the one where Buddy Epson does a bit of singing which I vaguely remember. Anyway, this brings me back to the days when I would come back from playing ball on the school playground just to see the next episode of Davy Crockett on our black and white TV. I even had a coonskin cap and a cool Davy Crockett wallet back then in the 50's.

Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
Greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods, so he knew ev’ry tree
Kilt him a bar when he was only 3
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
Fought single-handed through the Injun War
‘Til the Creeks was whipped and peace was in store
While he was handlin’ this risky chore
Made himself a legend for evermore
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
He give his word and he give his hand
That his Injun friends could keep their land
The rest of his life, he took the stand
That justice was due every redskin band
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
He went off to Congress an’ served a spell
Fixin’ up the Governments an’ laws as well
Took over Washington so we heered tell
An’ patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the frontier
When he come home, his poliitickin’ done
The western March had just begun
So he packed his gear an’ his trusty gun
An ‘lit out grinnin’ to follow the sun
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier
His land is biggest an’ his land is best
From grassy plains to the mountain crest
He’s ahead of us all, meetin’ the test
Followin’ his legend into the West

Thank you. From time to time something reminds me of my childhood and this song. But different words and verses got scrambled. Now I know where they all came from. I remember asking my dad what "kilt inabar" meant. (thought it was a foreign language)

I was 10 years old when the first episode aired in 1954. I had never heard of Davy Crockett or the Alamo. Well, I recently turned 80! I still have both 80-card sets of Davy Crocket cards (orange back & green back), I have the Dell comic books, the DVD collection of Crockett, including the river boat pirates and the keelboat race. I've visited the Alamo twice, read every thing I can get my hands re: Crockett and the Alamo. Oh, and in 1981 I took First Place in a black powder shooting match using my custom made flintlock long rifle. Looks like Ol' Betsy. I've taken a dozen deer and other prizes with this rifle.

Rewatch the series, are you crazy? I watch it at least once a year on March 6 , this series is what got my interest into American History. I now own over 350 books on Crockett and the Alamo. I have all the Alamo movies , including the Silent Alamo movies . All this because of “Davy Crockett King of The Wild Frontier “!

When my wife an I moved to Tennessee, a friend drove his big produce truck, my wife drove the car, I drove the van packed full, plus our two birds. I told you this so you would understand. I sang the ‘ Ballard of Davy Crockett’ over and over again and again all the way all 360 plus miles from point A to point B . There are more than just 22 verses to that great Ballard. Plus there is also the ‘Ballard of Mike Fink, King of the River’.

I’m not sure the majority of people who comment here realize he was an actual frontiersman, congressman, fought for the Indians, killed a bear, etc. he led a storied life! Walt Disney brought Davy Crockett life to the screen for us back in the 50’s!!
Davy Crockett died at the Battle of the Alamo at 49 yrs of age.

Davy Crockett through the creative mind of Walt Disney became the “infamous” American hero. What are you talking about? Do you know what the definition of infamous is? It seems not. He became just the opposite.

Why was he infamous ? That means having a bad reputation , nefarious. That wasn’t his legacy or image in real life, in the television show, or historically.

Well, that's on me lol. It was a bad call to use that word, I thought at the time it was a positive remark, only to see some other comments pointing out that it meant the opposite. So I own my mistake, and if I could edit that one little section out without deleting the video and reuploading it, I would. But most folks, I think know that I meant it as a positive, based on what I put in the description and that I put it up as a tribute to a man I consider a personal hero of mine.
But I do appreciate you commenting and pointing out my error, I may edit the description and add a disclaimer, recognizing my mistake.
