🍎 I have a balayage that's about 6 months old.. and grays as well...I've considered highlights to try to hide them, but i also have dark hair, so I've just decided to let them grow. There's too much pressure around us, and I've even heard people say that women who have gray hair are letting themselves go! I don't understand this at all. Gray hair isn't soil or something dirty on our hair, it's just a change in colour. I choose to have my grays as a challenge for myself to stop caring about what the world wants from me to focus on what I want from life. I love your content, Maddie! Do what makes you happy and what brings you joy. We only have this life, and we have to enjoy it and make it worth our while. Thank you for talking about this! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's funny isn't it that if a man has grey hair it's distinguished but if a woman has grey hair she's let herself go. Where does that thinking come from I wonder?
It should be about doing what makes you happy

Hi Madeleine! Loving your autumn vlogs 🥰🍁 I am 28 and have let my grey hair grow out since my early 20s, and I have a LOT certainly more than a few strands. I’ve never looked back. I think it is so special and unique to be a young woman with dark hair with grey, and I get so many compliments from people who think its really cool. I’m super passionate about this so wanted to be a source of some positive grey hair vibes if you don’t usually see it. Plus, I get to save a lifetime on time and money on not paying fortune at the salon every month!

I stopped dying my hair about 8 years ago and I love it. I feel empowered. Gray is beautiful. Plus I skipped the weird stages. Aging is a privilege.🍎🍏❤️🍁

Thanks to genetics I started going grey in my 20's. I stopped dying it regularly at age 30 because I fell pregnant and felt like it was as good a time as any to let the grey hair take over. I was never very self conscious about it. My mom had an awesome streak pattern when her hair greyed and I hoped I would experience the same. I totally did. I had a Cruella de Vil streak for a few years and I really leaned into it. Letting go of the chore of spending hours in a salon every 10 weeks was pretty freeing. Happy to contribute another positive aging hair story to the chat!

I started going gray in my twenties. I decided not to dye it. And I cut it very short. It eventually turned into almost white when I got to my late forties. I’m 71 now and I still get compliments.

I started going white in my 30's. I was a brunette. I dyed the white for years which was every 3-4 weeks then switched to hilites . It was so time consuming and expensive. I'm pure white now and yes growing it out was laborious. I wish I'd just let my hair turn white naturally..really, who cares what others think. People often stop me on the street and comment on my hair colour and recently a hairdresser followed me and when she caught up told me how beautiful the colour is along with the cut. So there you are...I do believe there is beauty in every stage of our hair life. I just wish I had done it sooner! 😊

Hi Maddie! I’m 44 & decided to stop dying my hair during Covid, never looked back 😊 I was a natural brunette & it was just too expensive to keep on top of the dying every 4-6weeks when my grey came though after two weeks! I’ve had ppl say it makes me look old, friends say they would never do it & think I’m crazy. I just don’t care what ppl think anymore! Which is the wonderful thing about aging! I will do what suits me & not others 😊 I fully embrace & live my grey hair! You do what you feel is best for you. I also think when grey becomes your natural colour it tends to bring out your eyes & suit skin colour. Love watching you 😊❤

I stopped dying my hair almost 10 years ago (I'm 54 now). I haven't regretted it for a minute. I wear a pixie cut with my natural gray hair and get so many compliments on it everywhere I go. My 46 yo brother is gray as well. Funny...our 79 yo mother still dyes her hair. Yours would be beautiful with silver tinsel scattered throughout your dark hair.

Regarding grays: my mom had the problem you were talking about as she got older, especially since she grayed really young. We both have very dark brown hair and from 32 to 45 she consistently dyed her hair dark to cover the grays. Thankfully at 40 I only have some scattered grays, but because of her experience I've decided to embrace my gray hair and when I'm fully gray I want to do a cute pink stain that's still healthy for my hair ❤

I never painted my hair :P i love to experiment but after seeing my mom painting her hair for almost 30 years without having the courage to let it grow grey I decided to embrace my greys and I LOVE THEM! I luckily I have a mix of well distributed greys as well as some strands/locks in the front and I love to be fearless and confident about them. ❤

Oh my goodness your nieces are so beautiful .
I started having grey hairs in high school and I had died it all the way until my 40s and then my scalp was hurting from the chemicals and I had no choice but to let it all grow out.
Luckily the grey colour is beautiful that had came through as you can see in my profile.
I’m Spanish and I had black hair but going through the process of letting my hair grow out I literally look like a skunk 😅 🖤🤍
It took me about a year and then I just chopped it up really short .
    I’m 52 now and
I miss my black hair at times, but I do love my grey’s.
Thank you Madeleine 🌺 for this video 🍂🎃☀️

Everyone ages, simple fact that people fight. I have a white stripe down the middle of my part(think skunk). I decided to just let it happen. I dyed my hair once and it was a nightmare. I thought I might lose it all. So the way I see it at least I have hair no matter the color. And please, never stop being you! I would much rather watch someone original and real than someone who only does something because everyone else does!

I use to dye my hair pretty dark. About 14 years ago I decided to stop because it was too much and I felt bad because of the pollution it creates. So for maybe a year or more I use the non-permanent dye (from the pharmacy) that kind of wash away but still leave some faded color between coloring. It made the transition easy. I embrace my gray hair and now it is actually very accepted for women to have naturally grey hair.

Im 55 in January. I decided last year to just embrace my grey. I'm naturally dark also. It was tough at first as i felt like i wasnt ready for the grey, but now im really happy with my decision. I would have yo dye it every 10 days as the roots grow so quickly. As it grows out more, the nicer it looks and im actually getting positive compliments from my family and friends which is lovely.
The apple fritters look delicious and will definitely be trying them 🍎🍁🍂🍎🍁🍂🍎🍁🍂

I think you having gray hair/ silver/hair would be stunning!! I really do!! I grew mine out. My natural was blackish/brown. I just loved my dark hair……and growing it out was, in itself, a growing time for me personally. Now I have white hair…and I love it! Sometimes I miss my dark hair, but that is ok, too. My grown children love it so much….and my husband as well. It is mysterious…..but my skin tone came alive when I let my hair grow out. I still love dyed hair color on women…..but I would never ever go back, myself! You will know when (and if) you do it that it is right for you or not. Deep down, you will just “know” when the right time is. During the process, I had good days and bad days….and I kept telling myself that I, myself, was guiding this process. At any time, I could go back to dying. I set the rules….no one else. My husband’s support, however, was also important to me. I have 3 older sisters who supported me……which gave me courage to try it. They still dye theirs. If you ever try it…join a “support” group online….it helps. Pick one that really fits you in every way. There are hundreds and hundreds!!! Seriously….it was reassuring to hear other women fight the same feelings as I did. I no longer need that support….but it was wonderful at the time. You may not need that if you still have dark hair on the majority of your head. Mine was going from dark brown to white. That process was scary for me at times!!
    Great video, thank you!

Hi Madeleine, I’m in my thirties too and brunette with grey hair and I just let them. I stop dying my hair because I want them to grow longer and dye damaged my hair so much and also just wanted to reduce the chemical I use on my body ( I don’t shame people using the product they want, it is just what I want to do for myself) and I come to appreciate the grey/ white hair catching the lights and shining 🥰🤍

I had dark hair and went grey at 29 with my first pregnancy and then it continued from there and yeah it was genetic for me too. I embraced the greys and ageing in general as it’s a privilege to get older and initially to integrate the regrowth of full dye I had highlights of lighter colours for about a year and that worked really really well. We all really do need to push back on the obsession of trying to stay young. Thank you for taking about it 🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏

The mulch looks great in the pathways between the beds. With the cardboard underneath and a good few inches of mulch, you might not have to weed for a good while. Once they start breaking down, just keep the mulch to a good few inches to suppress the weeds. A great way to keep using up cardboard each fall, too.
I also had hereditary, premature gray hair. At 50, about the time I went vegan, I stopped colouring my hair. It was a relief to stop colouring by then. You’re much younger than I, and I bet there’s not as much gray as you think. But, do what feels good to you. Either way, you’re stunning!❤

When I saw the title I was so looking forward to watching! I’ve really embraced romanticising autumn this season. I light a special candle on darker mornings. I’ve picked up a few new mugs and have a different mug for first tea of the day! It does make such a difference to be more mindful and making little changes that make you feel happier. Like you I want to continue this into other seasons.
Lovely vlog and re your hair, do what makes you happy, I love that you discuss these things, as it makes us all think and say our thoughts. I think we should do what makes us happy and not worry what society says! I’m blonde so although I’m in my 50s it’s not an issue (and I won’t let it be one).

I now have silver hair and and my natural dark bits, mostly underneath, and long hair at 63, which I have a plait to the side. I embrace being in my 60’s with non dyed long hair with my signature plait! You do you and be your true self, you are beautiful inside and out. 🍁🍂🍏🍎

I am in my early 50s and was told by numerous friends not to block colour my whole hair as it becomes a nightmare to touch up roots every few weeks. I have dark brown hair. I decided to get a few highlights, caramel and a few blonde as I’ve gotten more grey. Mostly around the face and crown. And I love it. It looks quite natural and as my hair is turning more grey it’s less harsh than keeeping it all dark. Hope that helps.

I grew mine out during covid time, hated it up to 3 inches then I got used to it. It grows out and also fades out if you dyed it for ages with the root touch up, you can also strip the dye with things like Vosene and clarifying shampoo. Mine is now whiteish grey on the top and I still have some darkish brown underneath where I never dyed it. strangely. I miss my dark gypsy curls but I quite like the change

🍎 Ive grown my dye out fully. It took me 18 months. I was a dark brunette and when I started to get strands of grey I dyed it dark brunette to match my original natural colour. When I decided to embrace my grey, I kept getting it cut into a short bob so that I could cut more of the dye out each time. It’s so liberating not to have to deal with root regrowth anymore. By the time I’d decided to embrace my grey, I was almost fully grey/white. It made me wish I’d done it years ago as I feel I’ve missed out on the lovely natural salt and pepper look that I’d covered over with dye all those years. I’m 55 now. I started dying my hair at 40 when more and more stands of grey were appearing. Then at 53 I decided to stop colouring my hair. I think probably letting yourself go grey whilst you have only a few strands would be easier than waiting until you have loads of grey 🍏 💕

I have had grays starting at 20 thanks to my dad’s side of the family and I’m now 50. I have colored it for years. About 10 years ago I decided to embrace my grays. At that time it was at least 50% gray. It was between chin and shoulder length. Letting it grow out was terrible and it looked bad for a year or two. I lived with it grown out and gray for maybe a year and I hated it. The hair was coarse and uncontrollable so I went back to coloring and I am much happier. I felt way too young to have gray hair! I will color it until maybe 60 and see how I feel then.

Obviously it’s each to their own but I have zero interest in trying pretend I’m younger than I am. I also want to model a more positive relationship with my aging body for my daughter. The snowflakes ❄️ on your gorgeous sweater are actually "Norwegian Stars". It is a really common knitting pattern i Scandinavia, and normally used all year round. Love from Denmark

After a stressful day, a new, both calming and inspiring video from you was exactly what I needed, thank you for that :) As for gray hair...I started dying my very dark brown hair when I was 16, as I got more and more gray (genetic). I did it until I was 44 and it took me over 3 years to grow it all out. Last year I finally cut off the last brown bits and am since then full gray, bit salt and pepper dark and light gray. Never felt so free before! I only wish I had done it sooner ;) Greetings from Germany!

Salt and pepper hair is lovely. My hair started going white from mousy brown very gradually in high school. I stopped dying it when it got to be more white than brown and dying your hair didn't seem the healthiest for you overall.

Going gray naturally: I always knew I would stop dying my hair at 60 and I’m so glad I did! I had short layered hair when I turned 60 so it easier to go gray. When I had 3 inches of gray I cut my hair much shorter so I would not look like a skunk lol. Then I let my hair grow out and I love my white hair! No muss no fuss 😊

I started leaving my grays since the pandemic started, and I'm not going back to dying it. It takes time and money I like to spend in other nicer things.

😆 I’ve worn a side plait for years as my hairs so wild if I don’t,especially living on the windy coast in Cornwall like you.
    So I’m in fashion now am I 👍 😂
Just ordered some green 💚 velvet ribbon 🎀 to go with a new cabbages dress that’s coming 💃🏻
Love that dressing gown from Seasalt, I have them too 😍

I started going grey in my early twenties (I have similar colouring to you), I blame grad school, lol. I knew I wouldn’t want to waste my time or money faffing about my hair so I’ve never touched it and I actually get loads of comments about how cool it looks🤷🏻‍♀️. I think everyone should do what makes them feel best, but all of your points are super valid - maybe try the grey life, you can always change your mind! ❤

Madeleine,i do understand you. I am older than you and i like to dye my hair. I don't dye it on a regular basis though. I have blond hair and have only a few grays shining through. I am not sure how long i will continue this, but i am looking forward to dye my hair again soon.
I enjoyed your video very much. The pumpkins were beautiful 🎃. The apple fritters looked sooo yummy🍏😊

Hi Maddie! God loves you, just the way you are! You should leave your natural hair grow! I’m 32 too and my hair is getting grayer. I’m not dying it and i actually receive compliments about it, first, it kind of looks cute, second, it’s a very brave move nowadays and more women that admire you will feel more encouraged by that bold move. However, if you decide to keep dying it, it will keep looking as beautiful as always. God bless you, thank you for your hard work to share your life and being vulnerable with us. Regards from Spain 🇪🇸

Got my roots done today 😓 I hate being dependent on these appointments and also try to spread them out, but ugh - though I do try to embrace the grays, they just bother me and make me feel so old. I’m 31 btw.

🍏 Will be giving the apple fritters a go. Regarding greys I am in my late 30s and have a few more greys, my hair is a dark brown so they do show but have yet to dye them away I keep telling myself next year i will see and that seems to work 😄

Maybe some perennial veg like tree spinach, artichokes etc they you should get a crop each year without having to think about sowing/potting/watering and so on. Also herbs dotted about which will be perennial. If you spread them about over the the beds and not just in one bed then the over all view will look less overwhelming sweetheart. I'm just learn too. A great vegan gardener I watch is 'dog on the plot' sure she'd be happy to answer any questions x

Yes….. stop dying it! I just love a splattering of grey in dark hair like yours. I haven’t fully dyed my hair- just partial highlights to try and make the greys blend more. But I only do it twice a year…I’m 45 but decided to just do it once this year and maybe not again!! I’m 45 so a fair bit older than you!
