What an interesting story. Thank you for telling it. I thought it sounded a little familiar and then you got to the end talking about Wes Craven’s movie. I have seen that movie once but never again. LOL

Gordon maybe you can help me. One of my ancestors was a lady by the name of Jeanie McCarnen who emigrated from Edinborough around 1800. I've been unable to find any reference to the surname. She married a Dougherty who was my mothers great whatever grandfather.
Gordon, thank you for telling this story and telling it so well!
I will remember NEVER to dine at the Alexander Bean Memorial Cafeteria.
Yes, avoid that one, Rick! Kind regards, Gordon
Another great story Gordon. Enjoy the variety of what you tell. Thank You So Very Much...

My great grandmother used to tell us this story as a warning not to walk alone at night or else Sawney Bean will get you.
Well that would keep you safe, Azure! Kind regards, Gordon

I wonder if S.R. Crockett in his book "The Raiders" knew this tale.
Could be, Steve. I think it was a well-known tale. Kind regards, Gordon
Never knew this how interesting!
Glad you found it interesting, Alastair! Kind regards, Gordon
Well, Ive got Bean in my family (MacBean). I had to go back and check all my ancestors names after this one!
Ahh ha, well maybe not mention this story too much! Kind regards, Gordon
The description of the cave reminds me of part of the harry potter story. Very interesting story.
Perhaps Ms Rowling obtained some inspiration from the story, Brian! Kind regards, Gordon
This could explain why McDonald's took off as a popular fast food chain. I can't imagine the international disgust had it been McBean's, 🤢 value menu.
Yes, that would be a bit off-putting, Leta! Kind regards, Gordon

Sorry, Tom, I've never heard of this surname either. Dougherty is an Irish name so maybe McCarnen was of Irish origin?
Great story if a bit scary! I was going to make a joke but perhaps in poor taste? LOL!
Yes, it was a bit gruesome, Donna! Kind regards, Gordon
I wonder if George RR MArtin hear about this story, and based his incestuous cannibal clan north of the wall on the Beans?
Could be, Dane! Kind regards, Gordon
